nah its harder, you would need to get pushrods made from memory better to leave it full comp if its 8.5 ish. You will need pushrods anyway as you will convert to a solid camshaft anyway as 5k's are hydraulic, so you need datsun 1200 pushrods anyway and 4K rocker gear, headbolts etc you would be able to find no doubt from helpful people here, or TAZRX could point you in the direction of head studs maybe sell the kit complete, a turbo will make or break the setup, so get the T25 or 28 If you want to run 20psi, i'd get the T28 and put a T25G exhaust housing on it cheers darren
-
Yep only a measly 12psi, why are you going to put a 4K head on a 5K?, probally better to just leave it all 5k,no messing around with pushrods either, i would have if i knew what i knew later, think TAZRX is still all 5K? You can easily get it all opened up to better than 3k bigport specs anyway cheers darren

Yep was just a a j-pipe, they are are so laggy..not..lol f@$kstick, there would have been over $100 in material there, it had a flexi join and was steampipe, not cheap shit exhaust tubing. mine made 90rwkw on 12psi with baby cam and 7.00 compression. I gave the cam to the apprentice at boostworx and a WRX intercooler and a MY99 Wrx TD04 turbo , he put it in a stock 5k(about 8.5comp?) and with stock carby setup for blowthrough and J -pipe it made 100rwkw on 12psi bear in mind, my car with 90rwkw kept up with my mates falcon which runs 13.3 at 102mph, and if your brother had the 12A turbo series 2rx7(white one), when i raced him yrs ago on Leroys cruise, it was on a measly 12psi then to. i can help, and i can't, i can get someone to make you one, i can help show you shit or help with some advice,I can get cheap fabrication and engine machining and engine builds for you , however i have no time to actually do anything with 2 kids under 5, i can't even do my own cars atm! A good j-pipe will be steam pipe, weld steampipe to the standard exhaust mani, then do a conventional join around the front, so you can remove it all easy(but a v-band would be boss), then a flexi joint in the middle. Weld bolts to the steampipe and cover with ACl heatshielding. T25G are cheap to rebuild anyway, its better math to just build it up when it goes, it not much more than buying another These look cheap http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Turbocharger-Nissan-SR20DET-S13-Garrett-T25-Rebuilt-/290586608808?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43a84fc4a8 Intercooler wise, i think these might be a good fitment http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/76mm-Core-Tube-Fin-Aluminum-Intercooler-450x300x76mm-/110685883755?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19c5648d6b cheers darren

yep, that my inlet manifold!, it was polished alloy, what a knob for painting it...lol Just jam a j-pipe on it and a T25G, or a T28 with a T25G exhaust housing, i'll come around if you want and show you where i ran it ,Piece of piss, and then you can actually work on everything it...Actually didn't you get the exhaust manifold with it, as i Migged the j-pipe onto it as gaskets always blew out there, then fittted a flange further down.Ring him up see if he has it cheers darren My numbers 0421836877

would have thought so, as the toughest jatco is the Ca20 3 speed one and they put them behind vl turbos...Ca18 and ca20 surely must have same bellhousing cheers darren
-
Pretty cool, Looking at what they knew with head development back then, these days if you where crazy enough you could probally do better i would have thought .The car runs 94mph, so it makes so where between 80-90rwkw Pretty awesome. Whats the most people have made here?. I know when i spoke to the elfin/open wheeler races over 10yrs ago out at mallala they said there motors where making 75ish rwkw, but revs where around the 8500rpm ish mark from memory. Wonder how much lift and duration that tighe cam has..lol cheers darren

any updates????????
-
A t88 on a sr20 will do that, that car has been through many incarnations, now its heaps less laggy and makes heaps more power with heaps smaller precision turbo http://www.justenginemanagement.com/ 490rwkw on 39psi!, ran 9.6at 144mph with 453rwkw/36psi by the looks! cheers darren
-
Yeh they make big boost, thats not the problem, its how they make it..lol, a T25G would be faster!
-
A t04b (if its typical V or H trim comp wheel will not make boost on a K motor,They hardly make any boost on a Sr20 and you can count the boost rising on the guage they come on so slow .... i doubt a G30 would either, and way to big 60Lb of compressor flow for a motor that needs 35lb at most, you need a 2860RS at the most, but with a .64 or .48 T25G exhaust housing...7K intake will be fine cheers darren
-
Cool, but has he done a K motor before? And your forgetting auto sucks power you just lost at least 20rwkw there . I could guarntee it with a A series datsun motor. Your cam will have to be gigantic, think high 400's lift 114 LSA and duration around 250 @.50..or larger! Think Matts was bigger 260ish, advertised 310 from memory. I really like the look of the camtech CT003-507, but with a 114LSA( i would try higher 117ish to help spool like JPC do with vl's), thats what i would try if i did it again, not the shitty Crow blower cam i had in mine, was a absolute pig with 112 lsa cheers darren

I have a glide in my R31:)before that i had a 3 speed,i will bet my house that a tricked up toyoglide WILL be slower than a trimatic! You have to run a bigger torque converter for a start, and seeing as though a 5K with cam lift in the 400's and duration in the 240-250ish mark at .50 and a T28 in the 20's boost wise woudn't reach it till 5000rpm, it will be a big slippery stall.Thats if you want to go fast. Really though to set K records, you would want a hilux diff, 4.3 ish diff gears, and a T-50 box with a 2 step:)...in a rusty old Ke10 haha cheers darren
-
E85 tunes up as good as C16 in most cases, people have tuned 4cyl motors up to 50+psi on it, and 6cyl well into the 40's I say no rules, i just want to see someone crack 200rwkw:) cheers darren
-
Would have picked up a good amount of power with timing, so yeh a high octane fuel would be good, the K's love to detonate with the prehistoric head design.I am busting to see someone try it...
-
trimatic out of the older rollas is definitly the go, i still have one sitting here that i was going to use, but never got around to it, surely the parts from other trimatics can be used, v8 clutch packs etc, like the gemini trimatics, they can build that are in the 8 sec gems. I never got around to looking at it, but if you want a auto, that would make more sense than a toyoglide, especially in a tiny cube motor cheers darren
-
The heads are f@$ked..lol, We need to be able to put a datsun A series head on them, and they would make 200rwkw easy. I just want someone to build a similiar setup to a few of us guys and run E85 or C16 and see what it does, as everyone has been using restrictive 98 octane up till this point. cheers darren

Its all about dyno ramp rate, you want it set so the car is accelerating like it does on the road,if it accelerates faster then it throws up a unaccurate torque measurement which then throws up a different power figure. So if you change your diff gears or box you have to dyno on a different ramp rate and load it up more. Thats where the shootout mode has its flaws as it locks in a single ramp rate for some motors. Have played with it a bit on mates dyno and you can see how some workshops get there "higher" figures.Thats how DD dynoes work. The Blacktop dyno is still the best! cheers darren

In s.a it is.... apart from that i have better things to do than write out the d.o.t laws in s.a for you we don't have mod plates

POR 15 is the go for inside the doors and panels, my mate uses it on all his restos, great stuff I;m using it on my 10's doors once the rust is finished getting cut out cheers darren
-
Put a R31 motor in it..lol cheers darren
-
lolz, a high mount turbo is illegal and now we have a budget, you could spend that sort of money on a long engine if you where building a hardcore setup cheers darren
-
Stock 4agze, injectors,computer/cooler, Gt3071 with 2 wastegates to get the boost low enough and a 250 nitrous wet kit..easy, the motor make 150rwkw on 7psi and the nitrous adds 150rwkw all on 7psi..haha i doubt it would happen any other way! cheers darren
-
I have a carby malpassi rising rate reg for turbo here if you want it, found it in my shed the other day Nah i have no photos mate. Look at Taz Rx build thread mate, he's the man and its similiar to what you want to do can't believe how much detail Taz rx has gone to for everyone here with all that info, you deserve a pat on the back for that!, would have taken ages to do. cheers darren

it easier to use no pump, a EB-Ef overflow bottle(the big f@$kers that have the half egg shape), i have constantly pressursed them to 30psi and they are fine, you can get them for $50 new trade and they hold a lot to. I reckon its easier to get a irrigation air/water nozzle and 2 lpg lock of valves and do it my way, so you don't have the pump. ike the old school Zoom magazine setup, do that but take out the one way valve, and it would be a good K motor setup. cheers darren
-
lol, with nice cams and a GT3040 or bigger i would expect it to make that type of power on 30psi or less. I don't disbelieve the power figure, just the boost it made it on cheers darren
