You really are doing it the hard way, if you buy the engine then try to track down a twincam that someone has pulled the motor and box out of or has a stuffed motor because you will need the rest of the twincam gear.

4ac but 500 bucks bought me a complete twincam to use, if you wanna get technical then look at my old 4ag ke70 panelvan, sure it was not finished but I had only spent 2k (including ecu, gearbox + rebuild, manifolds and carbies) and it was a running/driving car.

Don't take too much out as you can't replace it cheaply, try not leave dips/ruts and points in the surface, give the port separator a bit of a smaller profile as well.

Can you get pics of the setup to see if you have left anything out?

It is actually quite clean from what I looked at aswell, didn't look too hard as it wasn't a 32 and I was having a quick look for parts for my ute.

Be prepared to want to work quick if it is a busy shop, went to the local tyre shop the other day to get 2 new 4x4 tyres, the foreman grabs the young kid and says (brand size etc) 10 minutes, he did it in 14 and this is one hell of a busy workshop.

Starter motor is stuffed, if the solenoid is clicking and there is no rotation, common sign of a dead starter. A relay is a band aid fix for a dying starter, the older they get the more voltage they require and if wiring was failing because it was old then everything in your car would be failing.
