  1. 175 would probably be too narrow, even 185 would be a stretch on the 7" rims... 195 would be the go, but don't know how easy they are to get. What is the stock size for the AE86? Is it the same as the KE35/55? The KE35/55 uses a 185/60R14, so to go to 195 would be a 195/55R14, a bit of an unusual size...
  2. WAAAAY COOL DUDE :) Mmm, A008R's :S Did he give you those centercaps too? I recon they look pretty good without them anyway...

Just give Doug lots of money and he'll build you a 4K like what's in his KE15. That thing goes hard. Like, really hard. And it wasn't even that expensive considering...
  4. "before Qld Challenge"? Geez as if you weren't fast enough already!!! Now I REALLY have to work hard to try not to lag too far behind!

    ... I'd say talk to Doug :)
  6. Yes cutting them off is a bad idea. The big hammer idea is cool, except just be careful you don't bend anything you're not meant to. Also it can put a lot more stress on things like your steering knuckles if you bash them with the hammer, and stress fractures on steering knuckles is no fun. Pullers are fun. For real. I have like a MASSIVE set of pullers, and apart from the trusty "wire brush on angle grinder" I'd say that my pullers are the most awesome thing ever :)
  7. If the gearbox is from a 4AGE AE86 it will be a T50. Yes, should bolt into your KE70 if you have the correct gearbox crossmember. Pedal box: box under drivers feet that has pedals in it.
  8. Sup regs Entry form Important points to note: 1) Crew members must both have: - 2NS licence (although for Queensland Challenge will require 2S so get a 2S) - helmets 2) Information night 24th May 3) Entries close 31st May 4) Cost is $126.50 inc GST 5) Also required - 2kg of fire extinguisher, first aid kit 6) Classes will be: - Class 1 (2WD pre-1971) - Class 2 (2WD 1971-1985) - Class 3 (2WD post-1985) - Class 4 (4WD/AWD) Come one, come all :)
  9. Yes, tyre places usually sell them, but call around. For springs I find Ken Graham (Accurate Suspension) is a good source, he sometimes gets them cheaper than retail. For shocks I got mine from Anthony Kellam, again cheaper than anywhere else I could find.
  10. Measures distance and time. Not sure what else it does, haven't really had a play. It set me back.. about $400+? I forget.
  11. Teddy: No you don't want to put leafs on your car, you can't really unless you modify your suspension mounting points anyway. $800 should get you at least some new shocks easy. With new springs as well you might have to look at doing it yourself. For your purposes I'd suggest just some low King springs and some KYB Gas shocks, I'd estimate the springs to be about $150 a pair, estimate shocks to be about $250 a pair. Those are fairly high estimates, they might be a little cheaper. Call around, you'll be surprised how much the prices vary.
  12. Tie rod ends - Go get yourself a set of pullers. You'll love them to death :)
  13. To add to point #3 from Nick, wire wheels go through flesh REALLY quickly. And thinners and other solvents on fresh wounds REALLY hurts.
  14. Monroe Gas??? Do yourself a favour and spend the little extra money and get some KYB's. A lot better value for money. But yes, I agree. Just fix up anything that's worn (steering rack or wheel bearings etc), but if it ain't broken I say no point fixing it. Chances are though your suspension, or at least your shocks, will be rather flogged if they haven't already been replaced, so I'd say do that.
  15. Terratrip installed: It seems to work, when I spin the wheel (the car is still on stands) the numbers run so I assume it works :) Tomorrow will let the car down and see how to calibrate it (rob?) Also have noticed something strange, when I turn it off it counts one number (up). Is it meant to do that? Gearbox has just about shat itself, will be needing a new one soon :D I hate changing gearboxes...
  16. My bermuda triangle also seems to include spanners (have lost about 6 so far, including 1 ratchet one that cost a small fortune), screwdrivers (have lost 2 Kinchrome ones), and a whole bunch of sockets. But yes, nuts, bolts and screws, where on earth do they go??? Not to mention sometimes it's really bizzare, after you clean up the whole car etc and make sure there's nothing in it, 2 days later you find the bolt you were looking for just sitting on the floor... And I don't even have carpet in the car! Where was it all the while??? I swear sometimes I think I'm going mad :)
  17. Some observations I've made... 1) If you're under the car, and the only real source of light is coming from a handheld florescent tube, everytime you put it down or try to hang it up, stand it up or otherwise stop holding it, it will spin around and shine straight in your eyes. 2) The more thought you put into putting something down so that you don't lose it, the less chance you have of finding it again 2 minutes later. 3) Even if you just put an extension cord down for a minute, it will invariably get tangled in anything and everything around it 4) If you wear glasses (like me), just as you get your head into the correct position to look at something, your glasses will shift just enough so that you can't see it.
  18. Jamie: well said.
  19. Some pics: More photos
  20. Hehe... Okay. Hope you didn't hear too much "crunching" of the gearbox, was trying really hard not to have to shift gears... stupid clutch... Oh well, who needs 4th gear anyway...
  21. Andrew: yeah my box is a T50... An early one out of a Celica TA22...
  22. Yea my gearbox was giving me problems, and them my clutch system shat itself (later discovered to be hydrolic leak) so I had to flatshift every single gear halfway there and all the way home, and then my drivers door got stuck (the mechnism jammed and then the lever popped off so there was no way to unlock the door) so I had to crawl out the passenger door, by the time it was time to leave I really wasn't thinking of anything except getting home!!! Clutch fixed now, door fixed, but gearbox is worse than ever, I now effectively have a 4 speed - 1, 2, 3, 5th. 4th just pops straight back out and grinds and makes all sorts of bad sounds.
  23. Andrew: Oh crummy I'm now home, forgot to see you... Hmm.
  24. Found this: Competing in club events for newbies Thought it was interesting. They also sell prepapration equipment such as battery stickers, decals, tow hooks etc: Equipment
  25. Funny how it's a KE20 (or TE27, something like that) but it has like square lights. I wonder if that's how they came over there or if they've been swapped for different lights for some reason. Looks like heaps fun though, driving on ice is fun mmkay :) Drove around in America for a little while through snow and ice, even though it was a FWD SUV with no ABS or LSD and "all weather" tyres (note: they don't really work in snow, and definately don't work on ice) it was some of the most fun driving I've ever done :D
