  1. Installed air filter today: The metal shield on top of the air filter is to prevent water coming off the bonnet from splashing on the air filter cause the air filter is sitting so close to the side of the engine bay...
  2. My 4K isn't in the best of conditions or tune - hey Jamie :)
  3. I get about 450-500km from a tank in my 4K KE55, that's with a mixture of highway and town driving...
  4. There's a nav run coming up on June 5th. There's a thread about it somewhere. Too tired to look for it now...
  5. In all honesty I'd probably be able to do QMS3 in it. Should have rego (hopefully) by Friday evening, wheel alignment etc Saturday... But I shouldn't. Really. I'll be good. QMS4 I'll take it out.
  6. Fixed speedo and brakes today, things are finally going well I think. Have a few things left to do, should hopefully finish them tomorrow in time for engineering/roadworthy on Friday morning.. *cross fingers*
  7. I'm at Kelvin Grove
  8. Yes, need a steel collar welded on and the sleeve will just sit on it. BTW, I'm having major issues trying to get these engineered (upwards of $1K), so if you're worried about that don't put them on.
  9. Ugh, too tired to update... but if you're interested to know what's happening then read: http://demuire.freeshell.org/cgi-bin/index...viewnews&id=222
  10. Air filter arrives Thursday, engineering/roadworthy Friday morning, rego Friday arvo, wheel alignment + possible look at what can be done with suspension Saturday morning... Geez I'm running by the seat of my pants...
  11. No, actually I bought it from Jamie at the end of last August. And this is what it looked like when I got it:
  12. I seriously need to wind those springs down a little, the car sits so high at the moment... Will need to measure everything and make sure: 1) the car passes height requirements 2) I don't scrape the bottom of the car when i exit the driveway 3) I can get the jack back out too! As it stands I can't use my trolley jack if I lower the car anymore, the front is too low. Will have to use the scissor jacks on the side of the car I think... ... or maybe i could just get one of those fancy uber-low trolley jacks :)
  13. First drive of the AE35... How to describe? Hmm, first I have to wipe this silly cheshire cat grin off my face and decide if I want to be speechless or giggle silly-ly... Hmm... HEHEHEHHEEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEEHHEEHEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEEHE.. . *ahem* "More fun than a barrel of monkeys" "Needs to be treated with respect" "Louder than a gaggle of geese in mating season" "Burns rubber even when you don't want it to" "More fun then you can poke a stick at" Or, as Rob would say... "Has more balls than a Keno barrel..." SO MUCH FUN :) Brakes don't work properly at the moment, I suspect I need to readjust the booster pushrod and also partially cause the pads and discs are new so aren't gripping awfully well (not to mention the car picks up an amazing amount of speed without even thinking about it...) Have a lot of tiny little things to finish off, but should have it registered by end of the week. Don't think I'll take it to motorkhana though, a bit too risky...
  14. Awesome! :) Looks like a lot of work yet...
  15. Heh... Tested the thermofan last night, it whistles like a jet engine :) Hehee... even though the car doesn't look great (crap prep, dodgy paintwork), no idea if it would go great (dodgy rear suspension, leaky gearbox), it sure as hell sounds awesome :D Tailshaft is in, took a bit of stuffing around, I think there might have been a bit of corrosion or something on the output shaft of the gearbox. Nothing brute force couldn't fix :blinks: Well... More like *pull it out, shove it in... hmm... pull it out, shove it in... a bit further this time... pull it out, shove it in* and repeat until it went in enough :yak: Water pump is out of the car. Thermofan is wired up, just needs tidying (as does the rest of the wiring in the engine bay) So what's left? Make covers for holes in rear firewall. Properly bolt on front guards and hook up indicators. Check for loose bolts (I think the door hinges are loose). Bolt on front apron, splitter, grille, bumper. Put on water pump and pressure test cooling system. Double check for oil/water leaks. Make gearbox shifter boot plate. Engineer. Road worthy. Rego :) Yay I'm only about $1500 from finishing :)
  16. When is Targa Tas on TV?
  17. I so meant to go watch this today. Really, I did. I thought about it, I marked it down in my diary, I remembered it and everything... And then nothing went to plan on the white Corolla and I ended up under it for most of the day either covered in gearbox oil or water, or both. Oh well... looks like you had fun, Rob :) BTW, nice wheels on Redatto... :D
  18. Eww yucky... Hope you find the problem soon, wiring problems are sucky. Have you checked your earths? Source of many a strange problem...
  19. Looks like more delays. Gearbox still appears to have a slow leak. At least it isn't pissing out like the last 2... Can't seem to get the tailshaft in, something strange is going on there... Goes in halfway and then gets stuck... Water pump is stuffed, have started pulling the engine apart again to get the water pump off (front engine covers, dipstick and water pipes have to come off before the pump will come out). Will try to buy another one tomorrow... *no more money* Exhaust sounds good though :)
  20. Smells great doesn't it? My garage stinks of it, and I have it all up my driveway too!!! Even my clothes smell of it :)
  21. It is leaking out between the bellhousing and the actual gearbox, I'm guessing from the layshaft bearing. The surfaces don't appear to be very flat and don't quite mate properly (Hmm...), but have resealed and am hoping for the best. Looks like the A bellhousing and the T bellhousings for the T50 aren't the same, and are not bolt-together items. Idealy I think you'd have to get the bellhousing machined so that it will sit right on the gearbox and then get spacers made up to support the bearing better. I've used gasket paper and gasket goo (Loctite Blue Maxx). Have torqued to hand tightness with the ratchet, and will wait until it fully cures and then torque it up properly... Hope it works! If all else fails and there is a slow leak I don't think I'll mind, as long as it doesn't leak as badly as it has the past 2 times...
  22. And being from Malaysia (I would assume you are actually living in Malaysia) you can get it all done CHEAP :)
  23. Hmm, no idea. I'm not really good at naming cars... Pinky the KE55 used to be known as Bodgy. Pinky cause of the pink pearl, Bodgy cause of the number plates 880GOY (and cause the car is kinda dodgy) Hal. Read 2001 Space Odyssey quotes, take note of first quote which is said by Hal (the computer that kills everyone): "I've just picked up a fault in the AE35 unit. It's going to go 100% failure in 72 hours." How ironic :)
