They'll know what to do, don't worry about it.

For a 4K the only legal requirement is noise levels. Doesn't matter how many mufflers or resonators you have. $300 doesn't sound so bad. Cheapest quote I've gotten for my exhaust is closer to $600, average quote about $800ish, most expensive quote closer to $1200. That's for a 2" mandrel bent, 1 generic muffler, no tip and a cat. In most cases 2.25" press bent was only about $100 cheaper...

I have open diff (in fact most of us did), I still had heaps of fun. Getting power oversteer and lift off oversteer with an open diff is very strange... *edit* Actually, getting power oversteer at all with 30hp is very very strange...

QMS3: May 2nd. Not sure of venue yet.

Gah, stupid rain. Which tyres to bring now... Good tyres are impossible to handbrake turn on in the dry, skid tyres are impossible to drive on in the wet... Glad I checked pinky too, battery decided to go flat overnight again... Must find that blasted intermittent leak...
-
No, you go to the Queensland Raceway entry. The motorkhana is held in the far end of the car park past the garages, next to the fenced area. Basically as you drive down Champions Way before you get to the dirt road it veers to the right, take that right and follow and you'll get to the track. Go past the garages toward the control tower, turn right and drive all the way down. You'll see us there.

Umm. I don't know actually. Check the sup regs. I think practice starts at like 9.30? I don't know. I'll probably be there before 9 to help setup. Bugger, it's this Sunday. Geez time flies... My handbrake is still shite, oh well... Meh.

Hehe, I've got so many zippy ties in Pinky now it's starting to get rather ridiculous :P Clutch is held on with zippy ties (has been for more than a year now), battery held on with zippy ties, catch can held on with zippy ties, hose clamps replaced with zippy ties, relays held on with zippy ties, fire extinguisher held on with zippy ties, soooooooo dodgy...
-
Since it was at the workshop (I know where it is), shouldn't their insurance cover it? Can probably get enough back to make it better anyway.
-
Excellent. Don't worry about the call, I dialled before reading your message. See you Sunday if Pinky makes it out there. Broke again today. As per usual. Will probably fail scrutineering as usual too, not once have I actually ever passed scrutineering first go...

No, your mate has nothing to do with my pissed-off-ness. If he wants to buy the paint, that's all good, else no worries. If he wants to piss me off too he can call me and tell me he's coming over so that I can stay at home, and then not show up. That would piss me off. What pisses me off is all these people stuffing me around. If everything worked out the way everyone has promissed me they would, my car would already be on the road. But NOOOO instead I just keep getting f@$ked around probably cause "oh fook's a nice guy, we can just walk all over him". Time and time again. I'm so sick of it, I've had just about enough of it. Everyone promises, nobody delivers. I have a very deep hatred for people like that. Dead ECU: House flooded a few weeks (months?) ago. Compressor was also a bit dodgy (and is still blowing water - trying to paint the front bar and getting little water droplets spitting everywhere is not so fun), welder is not really working (suspected rust binding up the wire feed), dremel is dead, angle grinder making some very strange sounds.
-
No idea, no one called. Am very f@$king pissed off at the moment. Oh well, hopefully the spare gearbox works, hopefully my ECU still works (all tests suggest it doesn't), hopefully my car will be on the road sometime this century.
-
Picking up my bellhousing and gear shifter tomorrow night, going to throw it on my spare gearbox and suck and see if it works. Looks like my other gearbox (that was supposed to come back about 9 weeks ago) won't be back for "at least another 3 weeks". I can't wait that long, I've already been sitting around twiddling my thumbs for the past 9 weeks, at the rate I'm going the car's not going to be on the road till the year 2074... I hate relying on people... So no "working" gearbox for me, no short shifter for me... SUCK.

Hehe, no it's actually from the legendary car called Redwrf, owned and padalled by the again legendary Mr :P, who as a team - become... *drum roll* Redwarf Motorsport :D (not entirely correct, there is generally one other person in the team - the navigator. This used to be Mel (Datgirl) but she has since decided she likes to pedal too so has gotten herself a rally car too...)

Added to the Calendar. Thanks for the info

Oops sorry forgot to update. In any case, the meeting is tomorrow (Wednesday 31st). 7.30, CAMS room, Milton.
-
Hmm... Might make a phone call or two... I'm fairly certain it's tomorrow though, it's usually on a Wednesday...
-
Isn't it tomorrow? I keep thinking it is tomorrow... If it is tomorrow I think it is at 7.30. I should try to find out. I've been very slack lately with finding out things (I even missed a meeting cause I didn't know it was on until the next one happened!)
-
Why do you want to remove the front mudflaps? Will only end up ruining your paint along the sills. Looks good though.
-
Could be your coolant, coolant does break down after awhile. Could also be your sender, I know that my sender is a bit spaz... Or even possibly your gauge.
-
... and I know my AE35 inside and out, from top to bottom and everywhere in between :P
-
Tooooo much info!!! Yay, Datgirl will be there :P :D :D :D Medicine_Man: Don't worry, each run is like less than a minute, I'm sure your temperature will be just fine...

DIY is all good for generic labour-intensive work. But like Jamie said there are some things that are probably best left to people who have the knowledge, and/or the experience. There is a reason why some people spend their entire lives learning how to do something you know... And why some workshops are "better" than others, and some people are more sought after than others... You also have to factor in what you think your time is worth, and factor in the fact that if you don't really know what you're doing chances are you'll take longer and possibly stuff up as well. And besides, if you spent all your time learning how to do stuff you'll never have time to go out and play...

Ben: Where did you do your course? I did mine at Yeronga, was nowhere near as comprehensive as that... 2 day course, we did a couple of welds, fillets etc. Unfortunately using the industrial sized welder and then the little dinky one at home is quite different... My "good" welds to "bad" welds at TAFE was about 99:1 compared to at home where it's more like 1:99...
