On my thing i'm the standard filter and stock airbox but the top cover is modified to act a bit like a big "washer" and just clamps down on the filter. Sounds nice but the seat of my pants dyno says not much improvement

Yeah i know and at times i have mixed emotions about it. We're still keen. But ambers hopefully going to have a change of jobs so we're not sure at the moment. All going well she'll find out within the week if she's got it and what the roster will be.

I decided to pull my finger out on sunday and got cracking on repairing a small spot of rust behind the front left wheel. Everything was going fine till And its just getting better I had to take the panel off cause there was even bog packed in behind. More on that later. But what was it you asked A scouring pad :blinks: Nice and damp as well I've heard of paper being used but not a damn scouring pad. Till ambers dad came over tonight and "Oh yeah i've used they before"........:blinks: Now i'm wondering what else is hidden under the body work.

In a way i can understand where he's coming from especially if you haven't been through one, but still. How about the v6 from the vitara ? Its a north-south motor. From memory the gearbox is setup the same way as the serria - transfer case is separate from the main g'box.

Bloody heck, hope you guys are holding up ok. Hows Kryal Castle, Sovereign Hill and the Eureka Stockade ? Have good fond memories of the places when i went there on a school camp way back a life time ago in grade 6. Home town i use to live at was Merrigum. Brings back pressure into the game. When the turbo is finely starting to make some boost, like i've been saying lag is going to be the biggest killer, it'll be fighting to overcome another problem. It'll be trying to force a fresh charge into the cylinder but the exhaust gas can't get out fast enough do to the small sized pipe knocking down the pressure on the turbo exhaust. About the only real place to put the thing is around the diff. Anywhat, i'm off to bed to dream about nascars and their diff mounted alternators.

My dad (he's down in victoria) called just before to say that he's ok and that he's also been watching whats been happening up here. We went out today to donate some food, clothing etc and amber got talking to one of the girls who wound up, it looked, crying when she started talking about grantham. Sure the intercooler might have added an extra metre to the intake ducting but the turbo more or less stayed in the same spot on the exhaust, it didn't get moved about 2 metres away from the motor. You'll be suffering from a bad case of lag on when the exhaust is able to give enough pressure to be able to start even thinking of spooling up the turbo. I'd suggest looking at going efi and look into "anti-lag" ideas. I don't remember which manufacturer (european french ??) it was but sometime back at least one rally champ car (group b?) was running an anti-lag setup that had a pipe going from the intake side (after the turbo) to the exhaust between the motor and turbo with something like a spark plug and an injector in it. When the throttle was closed the pipe would open for a few seconds or so and the charged air would go into the exhaust, mix with a squirt of fuel, ignite from the spark plug and keep the turbo spooled. The turbo was a metre or so away from the motor. But all in all apart from full or close to full throttle would be the only real way of driving the car.

If your saying about mounting the carby at the intake side of the turbo with the turbo sitting under the rear end of the car Two major problems with that Lag - put your foot down and go make a cup of coffee cause nothing will happen for a while Do you really what a pressurized mixture of fuel and air sitting under the car ? The minor problem of cable length for the throttle and choke. Depending on where the air filter sits is going to depend on how much exhaust gas is going to be sucked up while idling stuffing up the fuel/air mix. If you have the carby sitting in the engine bay with pipe work running to the turbo at the back, you'll compounding the two major problems into something even worse. If you run the carby/carbies between the turbo and motor (blow-through) you'll have to box them in a semi-sealed container. Have a search for Taz-Rx and see how he did it.
