thats great to hear mate, well done, yeah the gears are very expensive, yeah winton is half second gear corners, yeah it would be good as mine is too short in second gear, but in third gear it doesn't really have enough power to pull it, my box is getting pretty tired, not liking changing into 3rd and didn't wanna come out of 4th a few times, i'll get one to rebuild one day, or rebuild the one thats in it i didn't think there was a whole lot that could be done to the heads, apart from being shaved and bigger valves, theres not really much porting that you can do, am i missing something? i wan't to do a surge tank asap, and i might look at baffling the sump when i pull the motor out to get it sealed, again congrats on your win :y: -
looks awesome mate !!

spent a while today testing out gauges and senders, i have a box of gauges and senders but not many work, tacho is wired up, and the water temp and oil pressure gauges are almost wired up, just have 1 wire to run, should be good and look a bit cooler :y: -
haha i drove to winton in mine the other day, sits on 110kph easy as in fifth gear :y:
-
g'day, went to winton today to watch saloon cars and the v8 touring cars, was good fun, car was good, all worked well, even got this cool pic!! i parked there, went out to get something out of it and this was next to it :y: sits on about 3000rpm at 110kph, instead of 4000rpm at 100 haha

thanks reed, i was enjoying a nice bowl of cornflakes, now i don't feel so hungry.. haha
-
i wouldn't worry, the 5 speed i just put in doesn't have it, and the bell housing thats on it off the red corona didn't have it on it and its lasted this long with no probs looking good mate :y:
-
thanks mate, yeah not to sure on the black, these grills are split down the middle, the badge covers it, although i don't think it would be to noticeable black, maybe an early celica gt badge would look cool haha?
-
hey guys, cars going well, all ready for a trip over to winton tomorrow, i painted the grill black and lowered the rear, what do yous think? haha jks, but what do you think of the black grill? and the back is close to how i want it to sit, i might have it a bit higher at the rear, just want it to sit level

yeah would be awesome, thanks mate, its all going again, a bit nicer to drive, somehow feels like its got about 20hp more haha, must be because i haven't driven it for a few weeks

yeah i completely agree, its a pain but it wouldn't be as good as it is if it wasn't like it is, but yeah i'm gonna be in the same boat, after i'll be racing against people who have up to $40,000 cars in my lets say $12,000 car, doesn't really sound fair, and most of them have alot of experience with their cars, i went along to the june round at winton last year, i was starting my build, nobody would even talk to me, apart from harley pheelan was nice and let me look at his cage to get an idea of what i was doing. like rowse motors build quiet a few cars, and with there vt, they have their own engine dyno, so they have unlimited time on it, and they charge about the cost of my whole car for one of there engines. my car is being built to basically the bare minimum that i can have to get into the series, at the moment iv'e still got about $4000 to spend before i can get into it, at the moment i'm a few seconds off what half the field is getting at winton, but i don't have big brakes, i still need the piston that are a touch higher comp, and thats the smallest amount i can do to the engine, then i could spend another $6000 on the engine with the rest of the crap thats "permitted", alot of them run about a $5000 gearset, my gearbox is a standard one that cost $500, i could probably do with a fuel surge tank, and e85 would help too, but even without all that i think i could make that up mostly in just getting more laps in, then a fresh set of tyres would help too. and then just spending time setting up the car, and getting to drive it to get the hang of it, but i think i'm doing ok for now, after all i'm not even 18 yet and have only been racing for a year or two in the sprints. at least iv'e got allot of things i can do to make up time :y: -
awesome, looks great, yeah a cage building robot with human hands....
-
awesome, i will be at something at some stage haha, yeah i love it, a bit different too :y:
-
will keep it in mind, depending on when the octoberish one is, it might be my first trip in the old girl by myself haha
-
looks awesome mate, where did you get it done if you don't mine me asking, oh and there appears to be a robot in the passenger side... :D
-
dude where's my car, oh wait its on the last page :D haha thanks mate thanks mate, its getting there slowly but surely, where abouts is it, i'll see how i go, my dads not really into things like that though haha, i get my p's in october so hopefully i'll get out to a few meets
-
haha, here you go, engine bay near done, still have a few things to do, but its drivable for now, front is lower than this by about 2cm now and a before and after, colour is not perfect, but its 1000x better than before :y: and its also a daily driver
-
well its 95% back together, took it for a drive a few hours ago, all good, gearbox is good, brakes are good, just need to adjust the rears, and it seems to be going really good, pulls heaps harder than it use to, will put a few pics up after, the front is a touch lower than it was before, looks good, just need to drop the rear another inch, few things to do but getting there :y:
-
G'day, cars slowly getting there, engine is ready to go apart from the exhaust just needs bolting on, pulled the brake master cyl and booster and the clutch master cyl apart, cleaned them up and painted, had to swap brake lines as they were different lengths, they are all done and working, just need a bit more bleeding car is back on its wheels, had to space the handbrake down about 1cm for clearance, x member and tail shaft is in, radiators in wiper motor and firewall plates are on, throttle is all cleaned up and back on, guards are sitting back on, headlights are on, once i get the front bumper on i can finish off the last little bit of wiring, need to put some shocks in the front, reverse lights hooked up, hopefully will be driving tomorrow!
