  1. That's just the G4FK (twincam) being an upgrade of the G4EK (single-cam), they're still both the Alpha engine (like a 4AC and 4AFC)
  2. The G4FK was Hyundai-designed though wasn't it? The earlier Excel engines were definitely old Bitsamissing engines but the Alpha was the first one they designed themselves.
  3. When done right, they can be ok, ie these: When on an SB Barina, they are awful... Always make me think of the Isle of Man flag, too
  4. I have two cats, and the smell is enough for me to guess as to how it tastes :P
  5. I had issues with fitting into the driver's seat of the KE55 (I'm 6'2") until I realised that it was only sliding halfway back due to the rear inside seat mount (the one with the cone welded to the frame) being detached from the underside of the car and bending the rail, plus one of the rail bolts had come loose and was jamming the slide. Fixed both and it was fine :P Knee and head room is always a slight issue though, out of all the cars me and Cara have had ironically the biggest (the JZZ30) has the least amount of room, due to the electric seats making you sit up too high and the sunroof eating into headroom (plus the sound deadening in the firewall means that you lose about 30cm of legroom too :P)
  6. I think Tooheys still is more popular than VB in NSW (was referring to CUB/Foster's most popular beer in NSW, not the most popular overall). Agree on the VB tasting like cat-piss though, I refuse to drink it even if it is free. Pretty much.
  7. My guess is that it is Fosters (who make VB) trying to out-muscle Lion Nathan (who make XXXX), and ironically the main beer that would have any sort of following in NSW is VB. Of course, Lion Nathan also own Tooheys, who have sponsored Origin/NSW in the past, so it is probably a case of trying both to promote alongside the opposition and remove an advertising monopoly.
  8. How about the irony that the NSW team are sponsored by a Victorian beer?
  9. Offsets would be going the wrong way....
  10. If you're running a 1" thick spacer then that would bump your offset towards FWD territory (+30->+50), of which 4x100 is probably more numerous than 4x114.3.
  11. Life is life, just you may be eligible for parole after minimum 20/25 years etc, which is why it is often referred to as "25 to life" (ie absolute minimum is 25 years if you get paroled first go, worst case is you die behind bars)
  12. Shiny washed car + shiny plates + shiny new wheels/tyres :D Crappy time of day for photos though...
  13. Actually not true - when you go to a bigger wheel for the same overall diameter you are moving mass towards the rim of the wheel, which increases the flywheel inertia effect and means that you need more power to spin the wheels. This is compounded when people use cheap heavy fully-sik 19" chromies and wonder why a turtle beats them off the line.
  14. Ability to use K-series mounts perhaps? Although if you're putting that much effort into building an engine a couple of engine mounts are hardly a deal breaker...
  15. I know you're just generalising, but there is no such thing as a 2010 FWD BMW, unless you count the new Minis :P
  16. Snoarers were designed as a dual-use luxo cruiser/sporty grand tourer - 80% of the comfort of a Crown/Aristo with 80% of the performance of a Supra. Best of both worlds in my opinion :P
  17. Most of the 7AGEs I've seen around don't tend to put out more power than a 4AGE with the same mods, but that's not the point of a 7AGE anyway - it is to merge the benefits of the low-down torque of the 7AFE with the top-end power of the 4AGE to create the best of both worlds. Peak power doesn't change much (and often lows the usable rev limit too), but the curve is much fatter down low where it counts, giving an overall performance boost (the good old "area under the curve")
  18. No such thing as a 2AFC anyway, they only ever had the SOHC head.
  19. Nova's didn't have the 2A, they had the 6AFC. They also (depending on the year) ran the 7AFE too.
  20. The people who sprout "if you don't have anything positive to say, don't say anything" are usually the ones who can't handle criticism, even the constructive kind. I can see where Trev is coming from, I've seen Lloyd Smith and his car plastered all around Toyota forums for probably the last 6 months, after a while it gets just a little old and unimpressive (like reposting jokes as old as the internets).
  21. Too young to become an apprentice? Or at least capable of holding a beer without spilling or drinking from it?
  22. Oldie but a goodie. Goes well with the "Prince of Darkness" Lucas electrics list...
  23. If it is anything like the Snow mode on the company Astras, it basically locks out first and second gear to stop wheelspin off the line when it is *shock* snowing.
  24. Sorry misread your post and thought you said Haltechs have never had internal MAPs...
  25. E6X has an internal MAP sensor. We ran an E6X on the CBR600 motor in the Formula SAE car at uni from 2004-2008 (I think that was the last year they used the Haltech), can't remember if we used the Honda sensor or the internal one though (was more involved in the suspenion and wheels than the driveline).
