  1. We've survived almost going into a similar situation, was announced last Friday that we've merged with a bunch of other companies to form a consolidated services provider, fortunately none of the merged companies have overlapping scope with us so no loss of jobs etc (at least for now), and sudden availability of large amounts of capital. If we'd stuck at going as a family company and didn't manage to get these vehicles out the door in probably the next 3-4 months, we would have been completely screwed - most of our suppliers have put us on stop-credit, we're behind on a lot of accounts,
  2. Got a bit of Seth Rogen in there too, albeit without the pubes for hair.
  3. Make sure it's an AE102, the AE101 is the 1.6L 4AFE (which visually looks very similar to a 7AFE) and only has the C50. Import shops would be a good place to look too, C52s tend to arrive behind early silvertop engines in halfcuts - engine gets sold the SX owners doing conversions, and the gearbox remains.
  4. There's a beige SE sitting on a hoist at Al Palmer's workshop in Penrith, for sale if anyone wants it  :D
  5. Apart from the turbo bit, sounds like the mythical 3KR, which is actually not a 3KR and really a 150e racing engine. Like the other Toyota racing engines (151e, 503e etc), they have very little in common with the engines they are based off. And here's a thread on Rollaclub about it already.
  6. All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others I laugh every time people mention riced-up Charades. There's one in Newcastle with 17" wheels, big Charade stickers down the side, cannon, monster tacho and a few other things, DUG10U number plates.....and it was owned by a 70-year old. And he did all that stuff to it. Absolute top bloke, bucket of laughs, genuine character, unfortunately died from a brain tumour a few years ago. We named one of our badminton tournaments after him, as well as a Best n Fairest trophy.
  7. Why don't you just get 12V LEDs?
  8. 1) Download Irfanview (it's small and free) 2) Run batch conversion on the photos you want to down-size, setting the res to whatever you want 3) Upload shrunk photos to Imageshack/Photobucket/whatever's-your-poison 4) ..... 5) Profit?
  9. 4AGE/GTE will be miles easier than a 3S, however a 3S will get you much better returns in the long run (ie once more money has been sunk into it). For the same price as a 3S conversion you can get a 4A that's faster, but put the same amount of work into each engine and the 3S will leave it for dead.
  10. I don't think it's off and on, just the media picks up on the faintest rumour and runs with it like gospel...then, when the rumour is shown to be false, they run with the next little tid-bit. Until Toyota and Subaru do a proper press-release saying "this is the car, it will have this and this and this, and goes on sale in so many months time", I won't believe anything without the world's largest grain of salt.
  11. There's a difference between possible and worthwhile. For the amount of custom work needed (engine mounts, gearbox which will most likely facilitate different CVs, wiring, computer, intake/exhaust, basically anything to do with the engine bay) you might as well pick a better engine, or keep it in the Toyota stable to minimise compatability issues. Whilst a CA18 would be different, you'd be getting no better results than a 4AGE or 3SGTE, both of which can provide you with an excellent amount of information on the conversion so you won't run into too many troubles. Golden rule of engine conversions is "Don't put an unusual engine in a car just because you have one lying around, unless you are made of time and money". If you could somehow get a FWD gearbox/bellhousing to suit, you could probably fit a V8 in there (like a 1UZ), doesn't mean you should.
  12. We're probably going to be camping at the Dubbo City Caravan park, it's something like $20 a night so reasonably affordable, across the river from the show-n-shine. From what I've heard West Dubbo isn't the kind of place to be sleeping by the side of the road.
  13. Where's everyone going to be staying?
  14. They stopped selling KR42s (which had the 7KE) here in 2003, not sure about overseas.
  15. People obviously haven't read the whole thread then, because it was outed fairly quickly as being a joke.
  16. And also 4x100, not 4x114.3 And if they suit E7x and AE86s, then they'll fit E3x and E5x as well. Which, coincidentally, is what most people on here own.
  17. So are most of ours, but you do see some customised ones (because some of the taxis are privately owned).
  18. Grille looks much better now, light highlights don't tend to work on black cars, unless it's the wheels.
  19. Pretty sure I've seen some Maxis down here with them (not all, though, and could be privately run - Maxi Taxis are generic names for any minibus-based taxi here), wouldn't be surprised if NSW taxis are different to QLD taxis too  The wheel-chair specific taxis tend to be Falcon wagons, like this:
  20. I actually prefer that hatch to the 5-door C4s, they look too bland and generic, whereas the 3-door is edgy and cool. Plus looks a treat when done up as a rally car, as all the Citroen WRC cars have. Meh, see these kind of things all the time, usually on a Premacy or Tarago though, it's a wheelchair lift. Maxi Taxis etc often have them too. Funny seeing the old Falcons with them too, it looks like it's pregnant because of the huge bulbous rear-end.
  21. I'm so sorry to have to tell you this....but your entire family died when a plane piloted by your fiance crashed into your uninsured home, and you have inoperable cancer.
  22. Toymods do historic rego, at least for NSW (not sure about other states), and they're a fully registered club as well, not just a forum.
  23. More like "Proton bought 10/20-year-old Mitsubishi engines and chasssis and put their own badges on them". They never had MIVEC engines though, from memory, same with Hyundai and Kia.
  24. Or better, rock up to a panel beaters and get one of the guys to look over the car and give a quote there and then. Much better than trying to explain things over the phone.
