  1. Got a jap diff? If so get a gearbox yoke from a jap diffed ke3x (4/5 speed doesn't matter), and graft it onto the front of your existing tailshaft with a new uni joint (part No. K5-A517).
  2. I'd say your motor started as the most common D dished 5k: Deep D dished pistons and a shallow combustion chamber head (identified by 2 big lugs under no 1 and 4 spark plug holes). The problem is there are no aftermarket pistons available to suit. The only ones available are shallow dished pistons which seriously up the compression and can lead to valve/piston clearance issues. What you need is a head from a flat top piston 3k or 4k. These have a deeper combustion chamber and will restore your CR. The problem you will then most likely face is pushrod length as these heads are taller. Search the forum and you will find info on pushrods for 5k's.
  3. shock body is 25mm shorter. Piston shaft is 25mm shorter. Overall 50mm shorter. You end up with a reduction of 50mm in droop. Edit: Found the pic I posted earlier in the thread which disappeared.
  4. My '87 E32 has a good setup. On the strut it has a C-shaped opening and the brake hoses (as well as ABS and pad-wear sensor wires) have a rubber grommet on them. Takes a matter of seconds to clip and unclip the brake hoses and wires from the struts.
  5. I've got a set of doubles in my 5k. Didn't set them up myself as they were on the head when I got it. The retainers are std 5k as far as I can tell, and the springs are aftermarket Holden blue doubles from what the previous owner told me... Good for 8500. The inner springs are the ribbon type dampeners like what philbey described.
  6. ijg033, Haven't you ever heard of an anti-reversion step???? I'd suggest you read some books by David Vizard and expand your mind. :) By the way the small port manifolds have the exact same sized runners, they are just flared near the head/manifold face on the bigport versions.
  7. Put a small port inlet manifold on it. That will help with reversion.
  8. Hey guys, if you are flood affected and insured, ensure you contact your insurance company before attempting cleanup. At Fernvale people are just throwing stuff onto the side of the street. Parents were informed they need to photograph everything damaged before disposal by insurance company. They got hammered by water release from Wivenhoe with 5.5 feet of water through their house. Going back to start cleanup soon.
  9. I feel for you Trev and for all the others in your circumstances. My parents place at Fernvale got near 6 foot of water inside, everything is trashed, their car flooded up to the roof. Had a ke10 there which has probably floated away. They're fine which is all that matters. I tried to get in to pick them up this morning, but couldn't get past Minden. Tried again this arv, got past Minden (they opened the road 15 mins after I got there), got to about 3 kays outside of Fernvale but the bridge just outside of it was over.. way over... Going back in the morning to hopefully bring them back here. Got to the woolies at Plainlands this morning. Was a traffic jam getting into the place. Got advised there was a 2 hour waiting time at the checkouts. No milk, no bread (were masses of people waiting at the bakery for the bread to come out of the oven). It was really a bizzare experience, got out of there quick. Realised after the fact that a lot of people would have came from Laidley which had been hammered (both the supermarkets there flooded). Take care all.
  10. The reports on the levels at Wivenhoe Dam are all over the place. On the seqwater.com.au website it says it was 175.9% at 9am this morning.
  11. Make that 300mm now.
  12. Yep. We are basically on the "B" in Marburg on the BOM rain radar map. BOM Radar
  13. Definitely keep safe Trev. We have had 280mm of rain so far today. :blinks: Rain guage is working overtime.
  14. Finally got in touch with my parents at Fernvale. They have water in their house and are staying with neighbors.
  15. Yep we're near Hattonvale. The yard is soggy as. We've had to dig some drainage out front, but otherwise all good. I love rain, but this is ridiculous. Really feel for those at Grantham...
  16. Roll it on its' side, undo the tailshaft, gear lever, and enginemounts, cut the fuel lines and shit and kick it out. :laff: Done it before with a ke20 and a few mates... took us about 15 minutes to get the engine and box out.
  17. Very nice wagon. My ke16 has no vents either. Pmp16 does yours have an early or late dash in it?
  18. I snapped the centrebolt of the leaf springs on one side once. Made a noise that annoyed the hell out of me and took a while to locate. Thought it was unis, then spring bushes, brake drum noise, etc. If you don't have a slidehammer: To remove an axle just bolt the wheel/tyre back on with the wheel nuts done up only half a dozen turns or so. Push wheel in against axle, then reef it outwards, repeat until axle comes out. I found it is a lot more effective then reversing a drum.
  19. Well I've had 8 carlton colds or so and 6 Treffa the c..ts and I'm ripped. Hopefully I wake up int the mornin without too much of a hangover... Night all.
  20. :lolcry: T is for Treffa the c..t. :lolcry: Should make that my sig or something. :P Gonna go make me another one. Actually I should rename it the treffa the c..t. Treffa the c..t: 1 part absinth 2 parts Jack Daniels 4 ice cubes 2 parts mineral water the rest coke or that shit you use to remove oilstains in your driveway.... Coke works for me, go degreaser or soemthing if you are real hardcore. :lolcry:
  21. absinth, jackdaniels, ice, mineral water, coke and a dash of lime. Works real well. the lime makes you forget the alcomohol and lets you get seemashed real quick. Took me a while to right this post as had to really think about the keys to press. haha. :lolcry:
  22. :lolcry: My eldest son thought I was weird tonight. He absopositivlutely smashed me on Steam tonight. Trev, we'll have to catch up one day... You crack me up dude. Have to talk shit and play with cars or something. Absinth is the goods. Used to be into pot years ago, but this shit is even betterer.
  23. yep. fwd's are 4 fags treffa. :lolcry: :P Absinth, Jack Daniels, Sodawater, Coke and lime. Good mixture. :y: can't recall being so smashed int a long time.

  25. If he claims insurance, don't be surprised if his insurance company writes your car off for market value.
