  1. Honestly at the moment if you want to track your car the best bet is the sprints held at QR. Wednesdays seem to be the best. Last time I was there, I doubt there would have even been 20 cars out there, so you could easily organize yourselves into a group. Kilcoy racetrack looks to be bloody fantastic, lots of elevation, very technical looking circuit, looks like a mix of the old Lakeside and Philip Island put together. Unfortunately, I don't think it will be ready until late 2007 at the very earliest.
  2. Yes, the bottom one is a TA/AA63 Carina and is probably the only one worth caring about. The earlier ones again don't look too bad either. Nice find on the late model one, it almost looks like a VX commie with that rear end.

  4. Its dropping down to 14psi by redline simply because it simply can't flow that much. Above 14psi out of those turbos just results in pumping in a lot more hot air. For that reason 19psi is excessive. Sweet bugger all as far as aftermarket goes, the engines were Jap/Euro only, so I hope you're happy with fabrication. The turbo isn't a T3 flange, its a toyota flange which shares itself with..nothing. However, if you'd be looking at a custom exhaust manifold anyway with the power you are after. The big hp TA22 I think you're talking about would have been SIKTOY, can't remember the owners name. It made the power a few times, running a very extensively worked head, complete internals, big to4 with a 60-1 front cover. He also went through quite a few motors. I can't say I agreed with a lot of his setup, but whatever it worked, albeilt for a short time. The main issues with the motor, is the factory ecu, the factory turbo, and well thats about it. Internals..I dare say be at the point where you'd want to replace the pistons at 350hp.
  5. I ended up being busy most of the day, but as I had to go down the coast later on, I stopped by Hinze Dam anyway. Didn't get there till 3, lol, so everyone was goooone. :rocknroll: From the photos looked like a great day, I'll get to the next meet on time :P
  6. Yeh my 3tgte Celica ran at 15psi no problems at all. It would usually back off to 13psi by 7000rpm though. The power started to fall on its nose a fair bit before then too. CT20 is a fairly sizable unit compared to the t25/t28, but I really don't think the flow is there, which is why I've upgraded to the CT15b. Regarding midrange, possibly ignition timing. They just run a dirty old electronic dizzy so they're a little lacking compared to newer motors in that regard.
  7. Considered those Koenig Rewind things? They're knock offs of Watanabe, and probably heavy as elad, but they come in 7's or 8's, and have a nice dishy offset. The price isn't bad either.
  8. CT20's are off the 3tgte. They're old, and being toyotas first turbo for production car, not that great. Slow to spool, and not that much flow. Honestly I think you'd be better off with a later designed turbo. The T25 which Nick is using would fit the bill nicely.
  9. Unfortunately the only company I can see Toyota buying up at the moment might be Kelvinator or Westinghouse. It seems they've long lost the drive to make exciting vehicles and are content to churn out the automotive equivilant of whitegoods. It does seem to be working for them financially though.
  10. What? No. The techniques he used had nothing to do with corner speed. All he did was use unothordox methods to place his car for overtaking and defending lines. It worked sometimes, it was also a bonus that he was racing in the days of mainly mechanical grip and limited aero. You'll see many more examples of this style of overtaking technique, Piquet did it at a good 100kays faster in the '86 F1 championship. The good old days when the cars weren't so reliant on aero.
  11. There'd be a few people that make that sort of flare. Almost the entire IPRA field has them.

  13. Yep, still in for a skidpan day. No idea what car I'll take but it'll have bells on.
  14. Its simple. They make more power in an upright position becuase gravity helps the pistons fall back down quicker.
