That depends greatly on how many carburetors your 4AGE is running :) Go for the conversion dude, much better then a 3K. best to give ny 2TG a freshen up though, they're getting old. Cheers Jordan

I'll take your Nav seat Lesley, if I can't get the lights on by tomorrow midday. Cheers Jordan

Looks like I better fix the head lights, so I can take my car out at night. the CAA22 is back punching out 150, but has developed an electrial fault with the headlights, if they're working I'll be there. Jordan

The CA does have an oil related problem, and that's that the head in some cases cannont drain oil fast enough back to the sump to keep the pickup submerged. This can be solved with- 1: A dry sump, where by oil is litterally sucked out of the motor 2: The "Acusump" or whatever it's called, which is a pressuriesd oil resivour wich when low oil pressure is registered it feeds oil to the system 3: Extend sump 4: Tapping another oil drain from the back of the head on the Port side. I've got an extend sump for mine, and will likley put in an auxillery oil drain. It's cheap insurance. Side note: my example makes 150RWkW on 10PSi at 8000, peak power is at 8000. As for cheap reliable power, hey're great. when you get your motor, pop the head off get it faced and install a metal head gasket (saves doing it later,) RB20DET AFM, S4 RX7 injectors, RB30ET (VL) turbo fue pump, T28 and a remap and say hello to 180RWkW every day of the week. _____________________________________________________________________ ON the 4AGE front NA (Which I'm doing as well in my RT40 Corona) Big pistons, big carbies and big cams (the cams are on hold for funds but the rest is being strapped together at the moment with a standard rebuilt head.) It'll be peaky, loud, cammy and rawcus. Just the way I like it. Heping for 100RWkW Truth be told the 4AGE is probably a better motor, (the thing that eats me about the CA18 is that the water outlet goes though the inlet manifold.) More fun to drive, I love the scream of my CA18 on boost, sounds so racey, but then again the 4AGE have a tune all of it's own. So they are equally fun to drive, but for different reasons. CA will be cheaper to get more power from, it's also a larger motor (do not confuse with "Cheaper to mod.") As for which is a better swap Cost can't be a deciding factor. I couldn't decide so I've got both :) Cheers jordan

Bit of an update Since retuning from Tasmania in March, and a trip to Mt, Feathertop/Hotham the Mighty 2R's compression had dropped to an even 90psi in all cylinders. not good. As such the decision was made to swap in a 4AGE running twin side draft carbies (as you do . The hunt began for a suitable 4age, and thanks to Matty an abandon KE10 project pesented itself. useful Bits: The rebuilt head (very nice) The carbies (Twin S5 solex's previous off a 2TG) Redline manifold T-50 box Exhaust manifold Motor auxilleries (water piping etc...) Bits that sold The 4AGE -> KE10 mounts The KE10 rolling shell In order to get the solex's singing in harmony, user Rodger aka: Mr. Solex was contacted to supply a linkage kit. After a bit of measuring and tweaking it was deliverd and fitted. 40mm ram tubes have been fitted to complete the look :P the other problem with the 4AGE is that the injectors mount in the head directly to read about how I solved this problem look her Next it was quickley realised that the standard RT40 subframe was designed to use a mid sump, while the 4AGE is a front sump. Fortunatly 20ValveCorona (Will, a user from Toymods) had got halfway though a conversion of his own and decided on another solution. Hence We swapped subframes. he got my stock one with the old 2R, and I got a modified subframe and T-50 gearbox mount. It's a bonus as his sub frame has gab shocks and discs off an RT81 You can clearly see the cutout for the front sump and the new engine mounts. This was installed thismorning. One of the easier issues to solve was converting to a manual pedal box, as there was no way I was going to let this new 4AG powered beast be auto. To read about how easy it is look here Just the other day my Wiseco 82mm Pistons. They are rated at 11.8:1 static, but with the 1mm TODA head gasket (WHEN IT SHOWS UP) will yield just over 12:1. Thus this car will be 98octance only. The block came back form the engine shop on Friday and looks a treat. had it bored 1mm (to accomodate the new Pistons) and decket to ensure proper sealing with the MLS head gasket. In order to control ignition correctly a Megajolt lite has been purchased and built, along with a Ford EDIS kit. Lastly for this update is the radical modification I have done to the rear suspension (a little too radical in my eyes.) To read all about it look here but to show you the reslut: Other stuff I've got that's ready to go New Exedy HD clutch High Volume, low Pressure electric fuel pump Gates Timing belt Things left to do Get the Tail shaf cut and shut Do something about the rear suspension + buy new dampers New front srpings new Front Brake Pads Strap motor together and tuner Probably a wheel alignment Cut a monster burnout :/ Enjoy Jordan

Updated I've got a car for 1 night in Tassie I'm arriving in Launceston on Wednesday night, and leaving again on Thursday, so I'm keen for a cruze that night. Will probably look to gather 7:30-8 for an 8:30 departure. Place of meeting: The Woolworths carpark in 'Riverside,' It's just off the West Tamar Highway. It sits between Cleghorn and Eden. will get back shortly with the route. Cheers Jordan

it's cheaper to buy a 3TGTE, you can grab them for <$1500AUD with loom computer, manifolds and turbo. much better solution as you get low comp pistons, I believe stronger rods, twin cam, and all the EFI gear. Cheers Jordan

Cheers for the kind words fellas, I purchased them from "DragonAutomotive" in the USA (only took 6 days to arrive.) They were great to deal with, a very tidy outfit and was able to pay using paypal. Along witht the Wiseco pistons I'll be running twin solexs, 98 octane only and an ignition only computer, so I should be able to get the best out of them. Motorcycles seem to get away with super high compression and even road cars today are coming with 12:1 so it shouldn't be a problem. Unfortunatly the budget doesn't stretch to new cams and springs at this time, but will in the near future, but thankfully these can be changed with the motor still in the car in a few hours. Once the motor's all back together and tuned I'm hoping for ~100RWkW at ~7500RPM or higher depending on if the stock big port cams can flow the air. Cheers Jordan
