  1. Plus the fact that it's fairly straightforward to swap a 4AGE into a 4AC car, whereas a 4K would require more effort! Performance bits for the 4AC aren't particularly common - I don't even think there is an off the shelf sidedraft manifold for them, the only ones I've seen are custom fabricated.
  2. Damn can't see it at work. Hanging to watch it! I've seen a couple of video's of circuit racers with K engines in them and I'm MAD keen.
  3. The 4ac is a perfectly good motor, I don't know why everyone rags on it. Like mentioned, you'll have less power that you started with if you go for a K motor, and the money you'd spend to bring a K back on par would pay for a 4AGE conversion anyway.
  4. Engine bay pics!!
  5. Cool. I dig the turbo's.
  6. Hmmm..... What do i need......? Mind you their K parts and early rolla stuff is pretty limited.
  7. And if noise is really worrying you, 5Ks run hydraulic lifters and are nice and quiet.
  8. Nope. But when the head finally went, not even a new HG and a bucketload of Chemiweld saved it....
  9. Pussies - I drove my toyoglide on the freeway for 12 months, every day to work and back. albeit at only 95kmh..... Man up the lot of you and get a louder stereo!
  10. Get the largest, most ridiculous, 11 thousand rev, silver body, carbon fibre faced, Maglite sized shift light tach you can find for 1000 bucks. It will be cool and very original.
  11. Strangely enough, I think the 4 door looks better than the 2 door as well......? Very strange.
  12. I'll have a read of that later Coln, cheers. silverra, I'm pretty certain it was a 623, like this one, as that is one of the Formula 3 chassis':
  13. Wicked. That wasn't the car I was thinking of, I'm going to have a read on his page. It's been a long time since I looked!
  14. Haha, technically it makes no difference - either word used in that sentence would fail a grammar test anyway as improper use of an adjective. 8/ When I saw Erik's charade, I went looking for a cheap one as a runabout just so I could clone it!
  15. Rob Roy is always good for a look. Always some interesting gear out there to peek under the bonnet of!
  16. I think I know the Bill Sherwood one you're talking about. Not the same class car though is it? This thing runs a transaxle rather than a straight gearbox, I'm interested in what that's out of, I didn't pay enough attention to it. I figured if you got one decked out for Historics, you could build a 7K motor up for it and you could run the 7K in hillclimbs and sprints, and have the 3K ready for the odd historic race.
  17. The model A is cool, but a little excessive. This one is wicked.
  18. Yeh this guy takes his in historic classes as well. I've heard about them before, I reckon it'd be wicked fun just for screaming about in. Even just running a worked 5K in hillclimbs and circuit days, without worrying about the historic class.
  19. Your weber may or may not have chokes on it. Some webers have mechanical chokes, others have solenoid or thermatic chokes. I would guess that yours is a mechanical choke unit that's had them removed, it's quite common to try get more grunt out of them.
  20. Saw this monster at a Hillclimb today. It's a 3K powered monster, 160 thou oversize pistons, bigport head, twin webers and about 142 horsepower at the flywheel. I'm quite interested in these things, I like the idea of an open wheeler with a trusty K engine in a tough looking little open wheeler. It's restricted to 1300cc capacity for Historic racing. I was wondering if anyone know's much more about them, other than wiki-facts? History of the race, what sort of other engines and chassis they ran against, how many built, what they're worth and what I could one for haha?
  21. I would have to agree. I'll only build one kit car, and it'll be one of these: Roaring Forties GT40 replica!!!!!
  22. Agreed - straight to hell in a porsche powered kombi. Or, if steering isn't your thing, then this one might be more your style!
  23. Yeh, it's a beast.
  24. I dig the salad shooter spinning rims.
