  1. Tyre iron in each headlight would've stopped that pronto. I think I might check this out, I saw the previews the other week, sounds good.
  2. wow, siamese twin. Joined at the head and all.
  3. That's scott creek conservation park isnt it?
  4. I can't believe you signed up to post that comment. Gold. I don't have too many toys. You don't have enough! Watching another tank on Ebay right now.... An hour to go and its getting close to my top dollar figure....
  5. What's the stock turbo on a 1GGTE? I might be able to line one up for you.
  6. Just bought a Green Metalflake seat for this rocket! Yeah! Gaudy. Even If I don't use it I'll hang it on the wall, look the shit! I was thinking metalflake green as the main colour on the bike anyway, so if this is a good colour I'll be laughing.
  7. Exhaust 300 bucks Manifold 150 bucks for a twin carb (sidedraft) Twin Carbies, 1000 bucks to get them in and set up, dynoed etc Single 32/36 weber, 400 bucks should get you one up and running Wheels 200 bucks should do it + tyres will cost you another 500 No idea about your shocks. Looks like you'll have to rationalise what you want most. Spending 1000 bucks on sidedrafts with a stock head/cam/exhaust headers will be pointless. I'd put a downdraft weber and get some extractors a bit of exhaust work with the 1000 bucks
  8. I used Greyhound once to ship a wakeboard had a fairly stressful moment picking it up from the depot. I wouldn't use them again. I had some speakers shipped by a courier that gave discount for Ebay items, you just had to put the Item Number in the website when you got the shipping quote! They were great but I forget who it was, anyone know?
  9. Hey mate, i can't give you a very specific answer unfortunately. Given the sudden nature of the failure, I'd go over the carb, maybe pull the top off the bowls etc and look for things that are loose. You should take a look for any blocks or clogs as well, just a little bit of gunk blocking a jet etc. Cheers and good luck
  10. You also need to factor in things like ring land to piston crown, piston diameter, dish volume, deck clearance. This is the list I sent my engine builder to calculate my compression ratio: Bore Diameter: 3.248 inches Stroke: 2.874in Cylinders: 4 Combustion Volume: 18cc Crown-Deck distance: -0.0118in Piston Valve Relief: 0 Compressed Gasket Thk: 5 thou? Gasket Bore Diameter: 3.268in Piston Dish Volume: 8cc Outer diameter of piston at crown: 3.177in Piston crown to ring land distance: 0.276in
  11. '78 SC. It's got a carrera badge on the back. Small shed, wide angle lens, was hard to snap a shot of the bike without getting that enormous whale tail in the photo! Once the damn Rolla is out of the shed, the Porsche is going in and I'll strip it for a respray. I'm going to get a second boot lid for it and I'll have one with the wing one without. Here's a proper piccie.
  12. Sounds like your best bet is to stop driving it until you work out what it is. You're going to get a string of suggestions, anywhere from broken exhaust brackets to flux capacitors being out of synch. Best thing to do would be to pull your front wheel off, grab things and start wiggling them until you find something that moves/doesnt move in the manner you think correct. Take a good hard look in there, you should see some signs of damage etc. Failing that, get someone who knows to look before you drive it again. Good luck.
  13. I don't like your chances man - I reckon that might be a Thermoset type of plastic (as opposed to a Thermoplastic), most engine parts usually are. Thermosets usually handle higher heat than Thermoplastic, and they generally just char/burn under heat. You won't be able to melt it, you're best bet would be gluing. Thermoplastics do melt though, you could try the soldering iron and you'll soon work out what you have. On the inside of the part should be a bunch of date-dials and an abbreviation like PE/PP/PUR or similar. Let me know what it is.
  14. Got the tank I bought on ebay. Still undecided if I like it though. I dropped it on the frame and its bloody gargantuan. I dig the profile, and the twin caps but its so damn wide and the squared off tail on it galls me just a little. I think I'll get the cutting disc on it and section 2 inches out of the centreline, and narrow the tunnel slightly.
  15. Put an aftermarket gauge in, your factory dash gauge doesn't mean anything.
  16. I'd like to run an E85 mix but I wanted to iron the bugs out of the build first.
  17. Those carbies are unreal!
  18. what cover is it? Put a pic up, poly welders are typically polyethylene and I doubt there's many polyethylene covers on your engine. You'll need to work out what plastic it is first.
  19. I would wind it out slightly to take out any lash in the joints. That way you've got no movement whatsoever, its a solid as it can be. Mind you, the geometry of old Porsche front ends tends to see the strut towers spread outwards not push inward, so I'd be inclined to wind those in to take up the lash. don't go whacking a 12 inch shifter on it and dialing it out all the way though.
  20. Mate that's some good info. The engine builder and I both came up with slightly different compression ratios. He reckoned his figure (whatever that was?) would be fine. I don't know what my overlap is either which will bring compression down. I'm also running 28mm chokes, while kangaroosa and others have run larger chokes on Dellortos, so that might lean me out a bit. I need to mess with my dizzy too. Anyone know the stock advance of a 5k elec dizzy, or how to accurately measure it? I might whack a protractor on the rotor and just rotate it agains the springs to get a better idea.
  21. I knew a bloke who used cigarette paper to pack out the thrashed out big end caps on his 202 to bring them back into tolerance for his new bearing shells! Cigarette paper is waxed so it doesnt absorb oil! Golden.
  22. Easiest thing to do - move to the hills and drive em daily!!! I'm at the bottom of Greenhill road nowdays, but the 911 doesn't go up there anywhere near enough!
  23. Most full hubcaps should pop into the inner lip of the rim. Just get to the wrecker grab any cool ones and see how you go.
  24. Yeh I had a balance done and I can't believe how nicely it revs.
