Silvertop is 10.5:1 std I believe, so its about right for our shit fuel. Putting 11:1 or higher CR pistons in makes tuning a little more difficult with our fuel. Uni filter make sock filters for them, readily available. I can get em for around $70 AU new at trade price. Unless you boost it an the spark isnt strong enough to exist with the boosted environment, you wont notice a difference between coilpacks and cop in an na application. Youd have to cam and do some porting to get the kind of power out of it you mention. Never used a dizzy relocation kit, if your going aftermarket you don't need a dizzy. I'm not sure if sam at s86 has finished r and d on thoose kits, just message him, hes a guru on 20v stuff and long standing contributing rollaclubber. Just keep everything light if you want it to rev. You can safely push a silvertop to 8000rpm all day long, however the cams peak at 7200, so to use all the rpm range appropriately you may just need a set of tomei poncams that let you retain vvt, which boosts low down power significantly, while still revving out. The vvt turns on at 2000 and off at 6500 as if you leave the inlet cam that advanced it makes less power up top where the higher duration cams are taking effect. Basically to tune for vvt you do one dyno run with it on, one with it off, and then turn it off where the graphs cross, which is right around 6500. You can get good gains from a nice set of headers also, make sure the pipe that attaches the head is a little larger diameter than the exhaust port and the collector design is correct. Google merge collector if you haven't already and see what they look like. This will lessen the impact of the reversion waves which can misappropriate your power delivery. Silver tops will have a reversion event around 3900rpm usually, but I lessened it on my car with just some neatening up of the header flanges, so don't be afraid to try new things. You may want to google reversion to get a better understanding of what it is. Basically the valves create a pulsing frequency through the airstream, and at different times this frequency of pulsing air can help you or hurt you, you want the pulses to go down the exhaust and not come back. Having an airbox helps this also and can also yield more power by reflecting reversion back down the ports, but it kills the soul of the car if you ask me, as the open inlet noise disappears.

In pure engineering terms a thicker hg is not ideal. Youre better off with the right pistons. Something to do with the shape in the corner of the chamber. Just ram tubes and filters, most people don't run them but they ruin engines prematurely. AFMs are troublesome, do away with them wherever possible. I'm running coil over plug on my na silvertop, its run in wasted spark. You have these choices with aftermarket. You can either run coilpacks or COP, up to you. Coilpacks can be more energetic, but COP is more elegant.

The differences in the motor being less of an issue as the difference in fuel quality from Japan to here.

You cannot both fit in rwd and use a stock ecu. Pick one of the two ideas and go with it. Either accept the need for aftermarket management or see it and buy a 16v 4age which you can easily run on stock management. The firewall and distributor are going to collide. Firewall mods are illegal. So the dizzy cap has to go and be replaced with the cover that some aftermarket people sell. Then you can use the stock hall effect sensor in the dizzy to connect to the ecu to calculate your ignition and injection routine. PS, you can just leave the fwd waterpump, alternator and crank pulleys alone, as all you need is a front thermostat fitting, and samQs magical rear fitting. Then you connect the back of the waterpump to the bottom radiator hose and the top radiator hose to the thermostat fitting that you will install above the waterpump. You wont be able to use afm easily, as you will need to remake the stock airbox to clear in rwd, which is very fiddly and hard to be able to fit it. If you use an ae111 4age ecu then you can use a map sensor hooked up to the vacuum sharing ports and then throw the airbox away. To fit a blower you need to decide a bunch of stuff. You can run a low boost system (max 5psi maybe) on a stock motor, but any more boost than that and it gets dicey. Silvertop rods are the same as 4agze rods, and the cranks are very strong. Pistons should be swapped out for lower compression rated items if you want to run the usual 7-14 psi of boost. You also need to decide what type of blower (sc12/14 are pretty old nowadays), whether to retain quads, and whether or not you should just go straight to a W55 to avoid breaking a bunch of T50s that NA drivers could use.

Decided to recover the dash yesterday. Pulled it out, despite the places where it attaches being intact I noticed all the foam was falling out from between the support structure and the vinyl. It has a shocking warp around the dash cluster too. Definitely too ʞ©$ɟed to fix it, so now I need to find one. I also need door cards. I have an adm grill coming and I'm picking up some zenki lotus lights brand new. Also found a spare adm bar. Going for a bit of a zenki theme on this one. Might sell my Kouki bar n mounts. Still need an ecu. Definitely going to buy an Adaptronic e420d.

LJ, never in my life have I ever heard of someone electing for a court hearing to try and get a lesser penalty on traffic charges. That's something that statistically never happens. People end up in court all the time, but for offences that require a court date, such as DD, Massive speeding 40klm/hr plus, Dangerous driving causing GBH. Its certainly not for low range speeding or minor offences. The people who elect to have those heard are people like me, who want to confront some poor Police work head on. Something else your not getting. If you think you've been given a dodgy ticket by a Police officer for whatever reason, and you want to see the evidence. You have to elect for a court hearing. If you elect for a court hearing, see the evidence, then decide to plead guilty and just take the ticket, you don't just get the court costs, you get to pay the extra $100. It makes it almost prohibitively expensive to beat small charges. You just get forced to accept it in most cases, which creates great latitude for the Police to be writing a lot of tickets that are borderline at best, because they know people are less likely to object. The point I'm making is, if they had thought it through, they might have realised that they were also going to be penalising people who didn't need to be in court in the first place, or worse still, people who are victims of undeniable Police corruption. My feeling is that this was the intention of the fee. Also, blaming departmental heads within the govt is pretty speculative. I believe they would have needed to pass a law to be able to collect this tax so I can't see how it didn't come from the top, it didn't exist under the Labor Government (whom I disliked just as much). I have another one. I found a revenue raising loophole that Campbell Newman has created for QLD police. I went to court yesterday for traffic shit. Simple speeding and an unjust charge of travelling in the right lane. I beat the unjust charge on the strength of the evidence. This was done by the Prosecution dealing it out in exchange for a guilty plea on the speeding. What I found out after was, if you plead guilty to anything in the QLD courts, you don't just get costs of $78.50 applied by the magistrate, you get a $100 admin fee to pay called the 'offenders levy'. The courts are not legally bound to tell you this, however, if you don't pay it, it goes to spur and it suspends your license, gets your car clamped or property seized. Just like a judgement or a fine? So it is a fine really. Its exactly the same. Also, the court has to display a notice about it, and the court I attended did not. I made my own notice, and then it was ripped down and I was chastised by a plain clothes officer for putting it up. They don't want you to know, because in my case, I had a reasonable shot at beating the minor speeding charge, but decided to plea it out and save time. If I had known about the $100 then I would have taken my chances in court as it as a $100 admin fee is more expensive than the fine was on the beaten charge. This levy is a new thing brought about by, you guessed it, Campbell Newman. I guess he figures if 100,000 Queenslanders are pleading guilty to minor infringements in court each year, and they all pay $100 extra, he makes 10 million bucks in revenue. So lets follow this through. I was in court when I did not need to be. I was there because of the corrupt behaviour of a QLD police officer, I subsequently cleared the false charge but still had to pay the $100 offenders levy. If I had just gotten the speeding ticket and been on my way then I would have paid it and moved on, with no need to fight unjust bullshit for a year and a half through the courts, which ultimately gets a person ripped off to the tune of $100. Its just another way to hold the poor and the struggling down and force your hand into the pockets of more people more often. And $100. The court can supply a magistrate and enough time for a trial for $78.50, yet they can't accept a simple payment for less than $100 in admin fees? WTF.. I'm moving to Canada.

Well equipment or not Id rather see people who know what they are doing do it. There are certain things you cannot do in action and sports photography, especially in situations where you can only get so close to the action, if you don't have the right equipment. You need telephoto lenses with the fastest optics available (realistically a 10 grand investment), its an equipment heavy field to prosper in. Joe Bloggs with his $1000 dslr who snaps off a photo, looks at it, decides whether to delete or not then re shoots again with P mode hoping for different results is a hack, and always will be. All those photographers at the F1 in Melbourne over the weekend, or at the football, with the long light grey lense that look like telescopes, they have those lenses because they allow them to use fast shutter speeds in low light by having a large aperture. Large apertures in general means you need more glass in the optics to capture more total light and focus it on the sensor. More glass equals more difficulty of manufacture and therefore money. If you don't understand all the technicality of photography you cannot be truly creative. People need to do a lot more of the work on the day with the frame and exposure and not with editing and cropping later. A professional who proliferates thousands of photographs per event would not be going trough each frame and prettying them up before presentation to clients, its just not viable. The press guys that know what they are doing are used to sending unseen films into their publishers, and as such are able to shoot well enough to send in memory dumps from the road ala film, unseen, and know the quality of the result will be assured. The proliferation of digital cameras is something I blame for this proliferation of photographers. Its taken a lot of the fear out of it as you can cheaply see what the final result is on an LCD screen before being under the pressure of presenting it, and if it sucks, goodbye, lets pretend that never happened. When I trained, I learned on film, and as such I had to learn to cope with actually controlling the variables. When digital came out strongly post 2000 I had just left art college and was jaded by the proliferation of it almost immediately. I basically retired in 2002 (while still shooting film) and didn't take any photos until digital cameras caught up with what I expected from a good film camera. I used to shoot my 35mm at college with a Canon eos 1N and moving to any sort of digital camera after using that machine was a massive step down. In 2011 I saved up and bought an EOS 7D due to its combination of high specs in a compact body that garners less attention compared to an eos1D (for stealth in everyday use and lightweight since I prefer candid types of photography), its ability to trigger remote flashes, high def video shooting, its high speed continuous shooting, extreme control of iso, high speed flash sync, high 18MP resolution, long battery life and massive card based memory(thousands of 18MP images per card). The very idea that you can spend $1000 on your kit in any field and call yourself a pro is pretty offensive to all the people who have professionally trained and invested thousands in their work. To translate for example to my current profession, I challenge anyone to buy a thousand dollars worth of tools and then successfully use them to make a kitchen in a time frame short enough to make money. Its impossible. Same with photography, but you just cannot explain that to the $1000 dlsr watermark people. The best thing about photography in general today is that its an all inclusive thing. Cameras are everywhere, so we are getting footage of a lot of amazing things we may never have seen, Russian meteorites exploding, fights, murders, whatever, its all out there. But calling yourself a professional for having come up with some interesting footage is drawing a long bow, and if your not careful get you a tax bill if you are deemed to have prospered from your success. I think you need to spend at least 2k on the body with the current crop of cameras to get what you need. Primarily being the ability to take fast sequences and to have a faster flash sync speed. Anything cheaper than a 7d wont do it. Lense wise Id expect if you budgeted about 10k for lenses you could have a nice all around kit. Don't forget about flashes either, a few on a stand somewhere being remotely fired would be perfect for drag staging shots. Thats why the 7d is good, wireless built in flash triggering. Of course none of this helps if your a try hard moron who wants to buy a fedora and stand around with a camera. You need real training, or experience. If your just going to leave it on program mode then your not going to get anything good. Have you noticed how these people don't even talk to anyone at the track but then live vicariously through facebook?

Yeah I always look at dragphotos.com.au and marvel at how low the quality is aswell, and its one of the better known ones. Plus, if your car isnt great looking they just ignore it. They don't get it at all.

Ran the power feeds in under the left gaurd the other day. Also washed air filters and changed the dented front gaurd. Mungi mods will pop over one day this week and flare it to match the other side so I can paint it. Had the wheels balanced and rotated also today.
