  1. Daves old car is now owned by a guy called owen. He is on here. Its being restored, now has a 20v.
  2. Me too. I have options being that I have the after market cell. However I'm wondering whether its worth all the custom sheet metal to make that happen under the floor like I wanted, or if its worth just bunging a ke70 fuel tank into it (that I have on the shelf) and cramming this thing next to it.
  3. Just received the small undercar surge tank. Its about 1.2 litres I think. I might need to cut off the bottom barb and tap for the right size, but its easily done. Also got a pump bracket from the same seller. Looks to be some high quality welding.
  4. Highest Quality!
  5. A rear ae86 strut brace wont fit.
  6. Yes lets take the simplest cheapest and most civil liberty reducing method to fixing a problem, that'll work, right? Yes because bans have worked well for drugs and guns so they must be going to work perfectly for this right. Yes Governments really are this simple.
  7. Hi Paul. Welcome. I've known Paul for a few years now and I've never known anyone with such passion for cars and all things technical and car related. He's being modest with the photos above, he has had BMWs in magazines and built or helped with too many fast cars to mention. He's also helped me a lot with my 2azfe ae86 and given me lots of good ideas and techniques, one example being the polishing inside a pipe jig that he showed me how to make for the die grinder.
  8. I have one ke70 early type pano chrome bar and one aftermarket one the same, they are full chrome bars, not black for half the length. I have 2 sets of long endcaps to suit slantys and all the lights. I have the brackets for the pano front but would need to make some for a slanty, but they would fit I think. I'm not putting them on slanty, I have a dx front end with the big lights and all that and I plan to use them with that someday.
  9. So does a gasless mig. Like the boys were saying above, a gasless mig has its place, its good for getting the job done in certain situations, but given 4 walls around you and available inert gas you'd be kinda silly not to do most things with a gas mig and use the gasless when the gas isn't getting you anywhere.
  10. don't make it removeable, if its welded it should stay welded. Just weld up the crack and repaint it like a normal person would. There is no advantage whatsoever to bolting the chassis together.
  11. I believe the TE panles don't fit right at the doors. Second time in 2 days someone has asked. Whats wrong with a car looking like the car it is supposed to be. There are no less than 6 panel arrangements for a ke70. 1. Pano front - Comes on 80-82 vans. Has chrome bumpers n all. 2. Pano front with the big lights n small grill - Comes on overseas sedans - 3. Flat front - same as all ke70s have in aus pre 1983. 4. Slanty front - same as all ke70/ae71 after 1983. 5. Quad light front - From overseas models like E30 with the 4 lights. 6. CE70 front - The diesel wagons had a different panel, lights and grill to other models. You really don't see it much.
  12. You realise I'm a cabinetmaker and I machine, sand and linish things flat all the time? I have a perfectly true steel backed disc wheel with a properly applied grit. I'm not too worried to be honest. Yes caution is required but Ive been linishing almost everything including my modified header flange and its all worked perfectly so far.
  13. Thanks. Can you explain why you say this? It needed facing after the welding.
  14. Went and did a few more small things. Drilled a couple of holes in some of the larger steel plate areas of the mounts, just to shed some precious grams. I also got finer emery cloth and made a jig to polish inside the inlet manifold and the inside of the oil pipe. Its like a mirror in there now. Should be nice and smooth to flow air and oil respectively. Now that I have a disc and linisher sander combo machine i was able to face the flanges on the oil pipe too, came up a treat.
  15. Crush all your spices and rock salt together in it, Then toss it into a bowl with some cut herbs and olive oil. Drop in your meat, put lid on the bowl and shake it till you have a seasoning crust on your meat. mmmm
  16. I'm attending the test and tune on the 2nd of January. I need to datalog a burnout and I need to datalog some high rpm driving to improve my tune with the new headers. My mate will probably bring his Yellow HG Ute that does 13s. Looking for any other interested parties to attend. You need an adr approved motorcycle helmet and long sleeves and pants an covered footwear. The cost is now $45 and admits one passenger for free.
  17. Purrs like a kitten. :clover:
  18. Thats a topic best left for after my case is concluded. Although unlikely, I don't like the idea of the prosecutor reading my thoughts and planned defence on the interwebz before court. Contrary to what you read in papers or see on today tonight :gurgler: , there is no magic defence to any traffic matter. Its just down to the events of the day, and the evidence or lack thereof. The Police will tend to sensationalise your conduct, and stack juicy lines from their transcript together in an out of context fashion. However this may not be the case, and if you feel it isnt, then you need to find out by looking at the evidence. The hardest part is the research you need to do, getting the evidence, analysing it. Timing things, using physics formulas to calculate the speed of things. Its a lot of work, and in some instances you are better off to just accept your punishment. I have a sense of justice that overpowers every bit of possible common sense in the world, so the moment I feel like Ive witnessed an injustice, I get 100% involved and in with both feet. A lot of people told me in my life that I missed my calling by not studying law, however I prefer what I do and just use my people skills and critical mind when needed in my life.
  19. I don't bother fighting it if its a waste of the courts time. I've had success in the past when it was warranted.
  20. Car of the year voting is on now!

  21. People could have done anything, axles can be shortened if they are in fact too long. Its at the point where your descriptions arent good enough to help you. AFAIK, you can fit ke30-55 axles in a ke20 borg diff to get 4x114.3 pattern so I don't see why couldn't swap them over the other way. If your worried about lengths, pull out an axle and measure the length, diameter, and number of splines and give us some info to work from, rather than just arguing that it should be different without knowing exactly what you even have.
  22. I went well, was just a hearing mention, however the police tried to adjourn the case for another 6 months with no justification. I cut off the prosecutor and requested the magistrate set a date for trial as early as possible. I also informed the magistrate that the police prosecutor had not yet sent me a full brief of evidence as he has with held the video of the event for one year so far, despite me paying for it through freedom of information and them failing to provide it in 2 subsequent briefs. Anyhow, the magistrate ordered the prosecutor to provide me with the video with its own native sound at my request, as they had stripped off the sound on earlier versions. This will let me see how heavily edited the audio recording was. So yes, went well, pretty much cornered the prosecutor in front of the magistrate and explained that the video was not forthcoming for one year now and that it was time for them to turn the evidence over to me that I need to clear myself.
  23. I think if its a borg diff you can swap to 4x114.3 axles from a ke30-55. However someone might have put a complete earlier jap diff in so check what diff it is and get back to us.
  24. Getting back to what AUDM said. You must have a cat if your motor came out with one. The chassis has nothing to do with it.
