  1. You can do some straightening, but its often best done with a jack and a couple of bricks while its still on the car. There are bolts into the panels under the ends of the bumpers, plus bolts down into the lower front rail from above, as well as some from in front into the ends of the rails. Also, the wiring on the lights needs to be unclipped.
  2. Apprentices should stick to stock motors and chassis. I know I couldn't have done a modified car with a $6 and hour wage when I was an apprentice. Just do a lot of research and save what you can over the next couple of years and you should be able to do it. It may well be easier to do a 20v conversion if you want to continue to use a stock ecu.
  3. So that means you would use the L-K housing from the liteace truck and use that to adapt to the w50 which is the same pattern as the L commercial boxes?
  4. Ah the 253, all the power of a 4 cylinder and the fuel economy of a v8. Seriously though I'm sure someone has done it but it isnt legal to drive on the road most places.
  5. Pre scoop days, thats a while ago.
  6. Thank you. I appreciate the interest lots of people have shown. Speaking of setbacks, I also have a a hernia I need fixed and the cost of the operation is going to eat my ecu money plus another 3 grand on top during the holidays.
  7. Bit of a setback. Gearbox shop didn't get the box finished. Have to wait till next year.
  8. I'm fighting a couple of tickets right now where the Police officer described me as a "Drifter" on his transcripts. This is while I was just overtaking some slow pokes on the highway. He got totally over excited about nailing a drifter and screwed the pooch and as such will be exposed for the profiling and discriminatory biggott that he is. Just wait till I cross examine him and ask him why exactly he stated that on his audio tape. Was I drifting sir? Was I doing sideways skids on the highway? I put it to you sir, that you had already decided to dump a bunch of tickets on me as soon as you decided that I was a "drifter", in your words. Despite me driving in a straight line up the highway as any other motorist would. This also explains your complete unwillingness to listen to my valid and safety based reasons for driving and overtaking in the fashion I did, and also explains why you became extremely excited and chased me down to the limit of the evolution lancers performance with no lights or sirens. This intensity of chase is extremely concerning as I was just alleged to be a few klm over the limit. One would expect a charge of unduly being in the right lane would be completely just if infarct an investigation had been carried out. This investigation needed only be as simple as following me for a distance and maintaining the element of surprise whilst observing what I did. If I had failed to move left upon appropriate road surface and completion of my overtaking, you could have justly applied a ticket. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to demonstrate to the officer my conscientious use of the right lane as I was not permitted to even finish overtaking. One would also take this hallucinatory assumption to profile me as a drifter as the same one that would be the motivation for your belly laugh all the way back to your vehicle.
  9. You wont want to see any more after you watch one of oke20s videos where hes popping wheelies and doing 8 second passes.
  10. Would have loved to have come but couldn't afford to risk anything as I had traffic court this morning.
  11. Come visit whenever mate. Wheel bearings are all done. Messy but rewarding work.
  12. I did more work on the bell-housing union today. I examined every hole for its suitability and I ended up making a 5 bolt and 2 stud union thats perfectly strong. I was able to tap into the meaty rim of the bell-housing for the most part. I have a photo with all the holes numbered around the bell-housing and some notes about doing it if anyone wants to see them.
  13. Is it just firewall and gaurd clearance that is an issue Sam? I have cusco camber plates, lca camber bolts, ae86 and ra40 lcas and the ncrcas. So between all that I should be able to make something work nicely.
  14. Heli coil in the back of the motor has just been fitted. Also had Danny the heli coil guru tap the threads in the block for the mounts. Not heli coiled at this stage, but with this equipment he was able to tap the entire depth of the hole. When I visited my mechanic mid week he showed me a 2azfe that had been completely cooked in a rental car after the driver got a stick in the radiator. The bore blew out between cylinder 2 and 3, all the valves ruined, coils all died, manifolds warped. Pretty much a massive ʞ©$ɟ up, but it was interesting to examine how the thing failed.
  15. Explain. I think they might be needed. Depending on what I do with front brakes. I'm using ra40 struts and am looking at different brake options. It might be a way to get a little clearance if I need it between lca and rotor.
  16. Just got Neg camber roll centre adjusters in the post. :lovin:
  17. So I was driving home from a mates place yesterday, and I start to hear the front wheel bearings over the sound of the radio. For some reason the front right side was stuffing up. Also the steering went really light around the middle. I jacked it up when I got home and sure enough the bearings on the side had about 3mm play. I removed the outer one to inspect it and found an extreme level of wear and a lack of grease. I put it back together enough to get me to service. The wilwoods stress these things really badly. Luckily, I bought a set of wheel bearings to put in ages ago, so I have them in a drawer at my workshop. Guess what I'm doing today. Haha.
  18. don't forget to vote for the car of the year

  19. I don't feel the engineering in the design of the steel cover would be that far over that you could go drilling holes in it. I'm actually pretty happy with the weight of the flywheel. The blacktop flywheel on the 20v is a little lighter that this unit, not much. I think with the higher capacity and the ability the larger motor has to rotate it, it should be about right. With the torque spread of the stock cams and vvti, it wont need to achieve massive rpm change to go forwards.
  20. Hahaha, thats a slap.
  21. -20 points for needing heavy machinery to roll over a zook with no motor or box. :lmao: Good score Dave, keep it in the family.
  22. ...and theres not much slower than an auto 4k.
  23. The W57 is now at diff lapping having the brass shifter kit fitted and a general health check. I made a couple of blank off plates, one that mirrors where the starter fits on the 2az, and one that closes the inspection hole at the bottom of the motor. Ive arranged to have the motor helicoiled where the engine mounts bolt up.
  24. So call him Lawrence Joseph.
