  1. Quoted again for truth. One of the biggest issues is people over-camming cars and then being disappointed because they haven't match carbie/ dizzy/ spark/ fuel/ head etc to the super monster they've installed. Big is not always better.
  2. Shady does. Forgot about that one. Bit of a fan of the Marek as well.
  3. Quoted for truth. A mod plate is your portable engineers certificate. Transport have a record of the mod plate and exactly what it is plated for. Each mod plate is individually numbered and therefore traceable. For a RWC, the mod plate codes just have to match the mods and away you go. The mod plate number is recorded on the RWC, cross checked at transport. Then get plates, put on car.
  4. KE70 wagon for grown-ups. :)
  5. I'm a huge fan of the Ferrari 250, which is probably why I think the most beautiful car in the last ten years is the Alfa 8C.
  6. I liked the Diamond Age. The last couple of chapters screwed with my head, but on the whole I liked it.
  7. I've read Last Human, but it would be nearly ten years ago (my black Lab ate it when he was a puppy, and he's nearly ten) and it wasn't a bad read. Have just read Clockwork Orange for the first time, it's been one of those books that I've been meaning to read for years. I didn't find it as disturbing as i thought (was told.....) I would. still a lot to think about though. Am embarking on Neal Stephenson's latest now, "reamde". About 2.5 million pages long as his later books tend to be, so I'll get back to you on that one in about a month.....
  8. Don't poke the bear. :jamie: My suggestions were "bollocks" or just plain "shitheap". :)
  9. He's after "Limited Slip diff", Not "Locked Solid Diff". :P
  10. I don't care what you paid for it, but two things stand out. 1: It was a bargain. 2: It was worth it.
  11. Get shouldered nuts, bolt them on. Forget about them. I don't think any set I ever had on the Dwarf fitted the hub as such. there was always play. No issues in twenty years.
  12. Gentlemen. Enough. :locked:
  13. You're looking too small. If a VS Commodore came out with a 6 or 8, you can fit that to any given VS, be it Exec, S or the Limited Edition Banana model. The engine needs to have been fitted to the series car.
  14. It really does come under the "How Hard Can It Really Be?" heading doesn't it?
  15. You should be able to buy 13x6 superlights (I know, slightly different) out of the box from Performance wheels in 4 x 110. Right fit, right offset. Spacers aren't ideal, and in many places, are illegal. http://www.performan...p=C&Cat=Classic
  16. From the rules that You have agreed to: Feel free to readvertise in a couple of days. :locked:
  17. What are you trying to acheive. I'm not real clear on it.....
  18. ^^^ Was it a garden gnome??
  19. Have disappeared to weird places before today. However there has been a case where the local customs guys cracked it when 700k worth of parts were brought into their country as personal checked luggage. The boys nearly went to jail for that one.
  20. Yes, o great Deliverator. :D
  21. I must confess that I have never read anything of his. Which for a self confessed Sci-fi reader, is probably pretty poor. :( One of the masters of the genre.
  22. You see Gentlemen, Robert Jordan only succeeded in annoying me by writing 11 books of a series at 2000 pages a book, and then dying before he finished it. Much prefer Raymond E Feist. I re-read Magician every couple of years. Tolkien: Loved the Hobbit, give or take LOTR. Haven't seen the movies, so that can't have swayed me... Parrot, I've only read Great Expectations of Dickens, and it didn't really do anything for me. Is Copperfield better? Hornblower: Have loved Hornblower since my early teens. Have them all. Highlight of my trips to the UK was going over the HMS Victory. Have got through about 15 of Patrick Obriens "Master and Commander" series before it all got a bit much..... Have just been through a Scandinavian Crime period. Martin Beck series (Great books and an interesting social commentary on the side), Helsinki Homicide (a bit pulpy, but not bad...) and another couple of odd ones. In the end I always end up at Sci Fi. Have been through Peter F Hamilton, Harry Harrison, Heinlein (his early stuff had some interesting thoughts, his really late stuff was in places a bit disturbing...) Harry Turtledove, etc.... Neal Stevenson is a favourite. Cryptonomicon is currently very much a favourite. Philby, I read my first Lovecraft about three months ago (Call of Cthulhu) and didn't mind it. Other stuff similar? Finished A town like Alice. Now on "The Trail" by Kafka. :) I have a Kindle. E-books rock. :D
  23. I seriously wonder how they've ended up as one of the worlds largest freight companies. If you want to see the world stop turning, "AOG" (Aircraft On Ground) aircraft parts are a good start. Generally, things get sent, arrive, and clear customs faster than you could ever imagine. However, this particular freight company seems at times incapable of sending anything anywhere within two working months. AOG spares are also one area where rival airlines will help to supply parts if all other options fail. Mainly because one day, they may need it too.
  24. We had a large multi national freight company ship an urgent aircraft part. It was meant to go by air from Atlanta to LA to us. It went from Atlanta by road to JFK (New York, yes the wrong way entirely), then to LA to us. The jet sat for an extra two days at around 200k a day. AAE have nothing compared to these guys.
  25. Having a house with several rooms stacked floor to ceiling with books, I ponder that their must be others out there that like a good read. What are you reading? What have you just read? What are you about to read? Where they any good? I've just finish a Charles Stross' "The Jennifer Morgue". Weird, demonological, and overall not a bad read. I would summorise the plot but I still can't work it out myself. Pegged for a re-read. Currently reading Nevil Shute "A town like Alice". An old favourite. I usually read this about once a year. About to read Anthony Burgess "Clockwork Orange". I'm puting off this one until I get over this illness I have. I've had high tempatures and the Stross book had demons and really weird things chasing me in my sleep. This one would be worse.
