  1. Bob the Builder did mine. That's why it's held together for two years!!
  2. Head is slightly counterbored 1.5mm to get adequate compression 10.9:1. the pistons are shaved slightly, too. 78mm pistons. Mine has whatever are the longer rods are, too. You also need to scallop your bores so the crank will swing. A slight nudge to the sump is also good. ARP 327 Chev rod bolts to hold it together. Its all a bit time consuming, better to start with a 4k. All equals to 1359.9cc. :)
  3. For reference, I have a 4K crank in my little 3K. It would have to be a hell overbore to get 1360cc out of a 3K. :) Stops reving somewhere past 8500. Tacho stops there. ;) R
  4. http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Garage/8422/4age.htm The longest bit was typing "4age"! :D
  5. Google.com search for "4age" Found the answers in a shorter time than it would take to post.
  6. Right. The time is getting closer. It seems we're doing the Rocky Rally the week before, so will therefore have four days to change from dirt to bitumen settings. Piece of cake. Having said that, if anyone needs some garage space (Fook?) or some help in preparation, the Stanza should be gone by then and I'll have two bays again. I'll probably be home each weeknight for about two weeks prior, but will be away the weekend before the challenge. Giddee Up!! Time to start getting excited! R
  7. ... And y'all know who's class that puts you in, too, don't you? :D
  8. Language.... :D
  9. There were a few Dazda's around. An associate navigated in one years ago. This was back in the Group G days of "Small car, any engine, go rallying!". This one had an engine out of one of the Peter Steyvesant Bathurst RX7's. He said when it hit 11000 rpm he stuck his fingers in his ears and waited for the engine to leap out of the bonnet. It then proceded to do that kind of revs all day. Publicly stated by this very experienced nav as his most memorable ride.
  10. Received phone call at about 1730hrs, it's official, it's off.
  11. Repco... :D No, honestly, that's who I get all my bits thru..
  12. Or in Fook's Camry's case, 17mm, then 16 as we hammer a socket on it, then 15mm, hmmmmm, angle grinder time! :D
  13. Bendix Ultimates on the Dwarf. Just think Good pads= Good stopping=Smaller rotor lifespan. You can't have everything. I skim my rotors twice a year, and change them probably every two. Dwarfy doesn't get driven that much either.
  14. Cash prizes too for them. Made a bit of money out there a few years ago....
  15. Teddy, try paying rego on them all! :D Usually I have a fifteen minute rule, although I broke it today, if it's more than fifteen minutes away, it goes on the trailer... Today was a rare outing for the dwarf. Hell, I even gave Datgirl a drive!
  16. MMmmm..... I've washed mine, apart from that it's still "as run" from last week. Ahh... that's right, I have straightened the strut brace a bit.... ;)
  17. There's no charge if you bring a car, and there's no charge to look. ;)

    Cams

That's a good price. Wade in Melbourne charged me $80 11 years ago to do my 169x grind. Now THERE was a camshaft.. ;)
  19. Myself and Datgirl are intending to be there to play...
  20. Teddy: I don't know about a Kodak moment, it was more a look for the Labrador with the roll of bog paper moment. I was trying to see how far we could push a 4 left, and the answer was "not that far".
  21. The in-car footage from Simon Evans was awesome.... coming around the corner and finding a size 36 cow right in front of the car, joking about it, and getting around it, all while doing warp speed. Legend.
  22. In future, I can recommend a really good dentist, Ralph French, Car 53 WRX. Wouldn't have helped on the weekend though.. ;)
  23. 15 Classic Rally cars started on Saturday morning, tagging onto the back of the ARC event. First we were off to Imbil to service, then off to Araucaria 1 stage. We unfortunately blew a tyre off its rim about 10 Kms in and was forced to change it mid stage, thus losing 6 minutes and buggering any chance for a really good placing, we thought. We got back onto the road with four good tyres again, and set off down the fastest strtch off rally road I have ever done. Ever. Just over 7500 rpm in fourth, for about 6 kms, with gently sweeping lefts and rights on a dirt road about six lanes wide. We hit one crest at full noise, about 165-170 k's, and launched. It was the single best moment in a car I've ever had. The car literally flew. For ages, coming back to earth prefectly. Wow. Spectator point at Cutters camp followed, where tacho hit internal bump stop. Should change gears more often. Tower Road 1 was next. This was a really shitty stage. Went into self preservation mode about 5kms in and put in a pretty crap time. Still, there were a lot of cars that didn't make it through. It was at about this time I started to think that Subaru RS' did actually grow on trees as there were that many of them stuck in the forest. Mitsubishi 1 was a 770m bitumen blast through Imbil. Lots of revs, lots of sideways. We started to get our shit together. Service and out to Kandanga. Marvellous roads and we were getting into the groove and getting quicker. Caseys Gully followed, 12.5km's of more great roads. Quicker again. Datgirls pace notes were spot on. Back to service then out to Araucaria 2. No flats, fully commited to notes, spotted big sign in the middle of the bush saying GO THE REDWARF!. Couldn't stop Datgirl from giggling. The best stage in terms of team work we ever done. Car doesn't go any faster. More Subaru's stuck in bush. Tower Road 2. I thought the road was better the second time, but most people disagreed with me. 45 secs quicker through here than the morning time. Once again fully commited with the car on the edge. 2nd fastest classic, only beaten by $75000 Fiat 131 Arbarth. Hit a causeway that hard, Intercom dropped out and Datgirl had to yell pacenotes at me. Not ideal but it worked. Back to Mitsubishi 2, more revs, more sideways. Service and leasurely drive back to Caloundra. Thanks must go to our service crew, Wayne and Theresa, and my wife Gaenor. We'd come into service with a list, and we didn't have to touch a thing. Not only that, but they washed the car at every service, so that the car looked a million dollars everytime we went back out. Thanks Guys. I have to thank my sponsers as well, Pedders Geebung, for ... well... heaps. Nothing fazes those guys. Crusin Auto Spares and Frawley engine reconditioning. Damage report is one trashed "indestructable" sump guard, and we bowed the top of the strut towers, due to the struts attempting to exit via the top. All due to trying to avoid bloody Subaru's parked off the side of the road. Thank also to Datgirl, who is still to this day the best nav I've had. She inspired confidence, and I knew I could trust every call. Rallying is about teamwork, and we were one hell of a team on the weekend. I think it's disgusting now that at ARC level, the co-drivers name MUST be in smaller letters than the driver. Drivers win rally's, but codrivers can very easily lose them. Thanks Mel. We managed to come in 4th outright in Classics, which we were wrapped with. Great result, great weekend, great event. Bring on next year. Rob
