Something Silly - Air Fresheners For Cars
HRV-00S replied to SoulSearcher's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
Sounds like it was written by a wine taster "noble woody soul and subtle metallic edge" Tasty :o -
Motors going back together nicely but still waiting for the head :D also been busy fixing all the dodgy stuff and trying to make everything fit. Got my self a perma-cool remote oil filter kit, cause there's f@#k all room with the low mount turbo, I wouldn't want to even try getting the little bastard off. I'm not to sure about where to mount the new oil filter because it's about 4x the size of the original 4a filter. Thinking about putting it in behind the passenger side strut tower, will fit but only just and will need a bracket made up. Where does everyone else run there's? I did a search but no love. Someone has to have a better set up. mmm can't wait to have some fun with this :o Striped the thick black paint of the fmic, now it's to shiny. I'll give it a LIGHT coat of flat black :no2: Made some brackets to replace the zip ties to secure the radiator Not pretty, but it works :) ( :y: Flat black fixes all)

Here's a couple of pics, was told it's a vl turbo radiator from the guy I got the car off but will have to check it against the bloke at works vl to make sure. It was originally held in with zip ties but I've made some brackets (pictured) and the bottom sits on the original (vl) rubber blocks and fits pretty good. Big enough? Simple brackets (not finished) Weld stud to plate and plate to radiator Sorry there's no measurements, I couldn't find a bloody tape measure (I really need to clean my shed out :o )
-
My #E7# has a vl or vl turbo? radiator in it. It's a fare sized unit but fits well and does the job. A better fitting (then mine) or 2 thermo fans with shroud would be good to :o Can get some measurements and post a pic if you like. Cheers Dan

It only had about 20,000k's after a reco, but when the cops found it (local hot spot) it was on it's side and the motor was still in it. They gave it a f@!kin hard time before they striped it, was at an old air strip on top of the mountains (dirt & sandstone) copper even said "these things must go alright" cause of the helies and line lockers on the sandstone shelf. Went to retrieve it after work to get the engine and diff but the motor was gone and the diff was all f@!ked up from being pushed with a 4x4. That tree under the back of it in the second shot caused the big ding in the rear quarter when they pushed it over. The fire melted the No plates but the VHT on the engine looked like new even tho all the other shit was melted off :y:

Sorry to hear about the wagon mate, and not to get you down any more but my KE70 was stolen early last year. I got it back the next day. It was still warm :D Hope you have better luck then me :y:

I never even noticed it was a two door. Never seen one before, but I like

Ok, the motor's back from the machine shop it's been balanced, bored and honed. I assembled my rods and pistons today while the wife was out, could only imagine what she'd say if she seen me boiling the pistons in one of her sauce pans  also checked the oil clearance for the mains, all good so lubed up the crank and bolted it into place. I have a long weekend this week so should be able to get the bottom end back together along with all the other shit that hangs off the block. Should get the head back in a week or two ready to bolt on. So if all goes to plan I should be back on the road in no time :D A couple of things I've been playing with lately
-
wow, these wild wagons are poppin up every where  At least your doing things the right way around, I bought my wagon with a 4agte and it's a friggin animal to drive with all that power going through the stock brakes/suspension. You'll have to let us know how she handles. Have you got any plans for propulsion once you get it to stop and steer.

Hahaha, That's almost as big as the front mount cooler on mine. Beige must have been popular in the 80's, there every where

Think your self lucky! The cool thing out my way is to fire bomb your car if it's parked in the street? Been about 5-6 done in the last fortnight, and a couple were in the next street over from me. F@#king idiots will get whats coming to them.

Yeah mate, but its hard to find "a few hours" with a baby to look after when I've already got so much to do. Plus once I move the battery and run the new wires (money/time) then I'd have to get some pipe bent up (money/time) it would still need to be boxed in and after looking at it yesterday I don't think it would get good air flow behind the head light. That's probably true to, but it will be enclosed in thin alloy plate with a double wall on the front with like a 10mm air gap so the front of the air box doesn't heat up as much and a scoop under neath to draw cool air from under neath. But it's still got to be better then the old SUPER CHEAP pod that was sucking hot air straight from the radiator like in the first pic. Relocating the battery is still an option, but will have to wait till the motor is back in to see what I've got to work with. Thanks for all your input people, much appreciated :) Cheers Dan

Thanks for your input guy's :) I done a bit of a trial fit today and should be able to run it straight of the turbo, but wont be 100% sure till the motor goes back in, will probably need to move the thermo fan over a little so It can be boxed in and divert some cold air from under the front some where. This is pretty close to where it will sit once the engine is back in Damb, I can't wait to get this thing back on the prowl  Cheers Dan

woops :) double post
-
Yeah, I've already got boxes in the back for the fuel system/speakers. That's an option but I'm pretty lazy and it sounds like lots more work :) Plus the rad support has already been skillfully modded for the front mount piping. ie: lots of big holes cut in it (by previous owner) Thanks guy's Definitely don't want the coppers wanting to look under the lid, could be motivation enough

Hi all, I picked up a ram pod filter the other day and have been pondering how I'm going to squeeze it in to the engine bay. It's a fair sized piece of kit and I don't want it sucking in hot air from under the bonnet, was thinking I might have to run it up from the turbo and out the top of the bonnet and run a small scoop over the top for CAI. Only problem is it's a bit of a sleeper so any scoop would have to be a subtle/low profile design, tho most people would probably think I'm just a retard (read: ricer) with a scoop on a shit box rolla  If the foam filter element is just proud of the bonnet basically inside the scoop is water (rain) going to be a problem? Any ideas/suggestions/personal experience maybe a better option that I haven't thought of yet? This is what I've got to work with (old pic) Something like this maybe? Cheers guy's Dan :)

Hahaha, They may be the ugliest wagon ever! but that will just make it so much more embarrassing when you get hosed off at the lights by one :) Good luck with it mate

nice, I had a riced up one of these for a couple of months after my KE was stolen, ran like a dream for the few months I had it. Sold it to some old lady and a week later it was at the same work shop I had my ute a with a stuffed head. Was a 4a-f or something and a pretty common problem I was told. Could always find a big pole and reverse gear to get your motor back :lolcry:

Shit man you got off light, Happened to me in my old escort. Stopped to turn right across traffic, pushed clutch in and it stalled, started it and it lurched forward wtf?, Tried again to start with the good old heal and toe in the main street, spinning the rears (wet road) and on the brakes waiting for a break in traffic. Tried to go and it spat me sideways onto other side of road and stalled again but this time it wouldn't start, then some dude run the orange light and couldn't pull up in time. Was my first car and on my P's I had no idea what was going on, I had just bent the fork? got another one same thing happened but no crash. So I got a new on from Ford and it was the last one in the system, what a shit box, next car was a rolla and never had a problem till it got stolen ;) Still sucks but man, Definitely go a new one or try reinforcing it through the weak area
