ahh sweet, someone else has covered it! looks quite detailed. wow the fist ke10 only weighed 690kg! wonder what made the front track difference on the sprinters? they don't have slightly longer control arms do they?? or is it the discs? thanks Doug.

This is one of those things i would like to know how to do but never do cause it seems too hard. I have spare box's so i just keep swapping them... well done!

No shit!? that means i have a ke10-B! didnt realise that, ill go look at the plate. that means you have a ke10B right? ya forgot ke16 :P So does anyone know what yeah/month they went from ke10 to ke10-b?

As far as i know the late 1969 ke10's are the ones that look exactly like ke11's (except without 1200 badges) what month of 1969 did this change happen? Does anyone know when exactly the ke10 dash changes from the round protruding guages to the later ke11 type? I always thought that all early ke10's (don't have front apron indicators just have the white parker lights) had the old dash?? but looking a fayt's car and alex bates old green ke10 they have the later style dash.... And i was under the impression Toyota started building the first models in 1966 but have since found a bit of info that suggests they started in 1967. anyone? Any other info simular to this would be good, I'm trying to build a website covering it all. thanks. Scott.

cheers Mikey, i've done quite well with it at the front and the sides, just can't get the back in and stay in. The problem is I'm attempting it without removing the windows. if it works out well ill let people know how to do it... Scott.

I just pulled a nice unripped lining from my ke10 wreck to put into my ke11. i can get it to reach and sit nicely from one side to the other but from the front to back its just too tight. what am i doing wrong? is there a order to which you put them in? anyone done this before?? thanks, scott.

I live on a small farm so i learnt to drive in the paddocks in a ke30. got my licence. got a free ke70, rolled that. pulled the dents out and and replaced the bent axels and drove it for another year. SO much fun. joined the oldcorollas yahoo group, bought a ke30 started to get into modifying. buy a rolla for less than $500, do some mods, drag a modern car worth over 10 times a much off the lights and your hooked. got obsessed with the ke1x series and started collecting parts. bought my ke11 and just recently a ke10. because we have a fair bit of property i've own a LOT of wrecks the only corollas i havent owned are ke15/17and ke20's. but there is still time.

ive had enough of it today, i have already made a bit of a mess of it :P i even tried making a tool to remove it. if another spacer can be made easy enough i just get it out what ever was possible.
-
rusty: the only tool i have for measurements unfortunately is a metre ruler so they wont be 100% accurate. The pedders gas struts insert as removed from some ke30 struts is roughly 403mm long and has a rough diameter of 43mm.
-
Rusty: i just took the insert out of some ke30 struts ill measure it up for ya in a sec. Doug: Have you got any tips on getting the inserts out of the ke1x struts? I'm having trouble getting the top nut off and my manual says you need a special tool. the screwdriver and hammer just arent working for me! :P

i found this on the whiteline site a few years ago. not sure if its still valid. Someone was asking about ke15 suspension and this is some of the reply given by Paul Clausen from whiteline. "KYB list some standard replacement type shocks, but they aren't really intended for performance use. It would be worthwhile looking into some strut swaps (only if you do it properly), to get some decent shocks and spring options. " no ifo on what struts to use tho!
-
Thats awesome, i've got plenty of decent ke3x strut inserts! I'm gonna try this tomorrow. I've been meaning to ask you (doug) about that for some time... i've been looking back at this thread: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/oldcor...s/message/19839

I know here in SA, few years ago, lowering blocks could be bought from Motormate for $80 or so. not sure if you have motormate interstate. I have pulled 1969 leaf packs apart without a rattle gun. I have reset leafs in my ke30 cost $300 including an extra leaf. I must admit tho I'm not 100% happy with them as not they sit dead flat and don't provide the best ride. My ke11 has extra leafs added ontop of the normal pack with one or two flipped. This lowered the car enough and stiffened it aswell but skips quite a lot around corners (good fun tho :P ) got 7 leafs in there now, little overkill i think. Soon i plan on getting a standard leaf pack, removing a leaf or two and adding small lowering blocks. then running stiff sway bars and some sort of anti tramp. Be a bit of an experiment. all in my ke30. my 2c Scott.

if you get your '25 back and it has a decent cam and extractors you wanna sell. let me know :P cheers, scott

ScottKE1X replied to NoPsi's topic in General Mechanical

ke16's are basically ke10 wagons ke18's are ke11 wagons when you say panelvan do you mean it had no widows? I have never seen that before, maybe he's welded them up.... I've never seen 2 sprinters in the same place at the same time in real life either! I agree with AE35, you really can't say something like that without showing some photos!!!
