  2. Would you need a full inspection to get rego?? I know of a guy who brought a bike in from interstate and he just needed a check done on the numbers to make sure it wasnt stolen. He just got it done at the local cops. Although if you have some obvious body problems the cops may force you to go to regency... Alex bates (previous owner of scott hoffman/oke020's ke10) originally brought it into SA from interstate and i believe he didnt need to do much at all to get rego. anyone know more?
  3. Hey all, seeing i've finished uni and too lazy to get a job I'm fixing up my ke30. i got side swiped early last year and the passenger side sill panel is pretty bent up. SO, i went to town on my ke55 wreck and stole the entire panel plus more so i can do a swap... (about 9 angle grinder disc's later) Does anyone have any idea how i should go about it?? anyone don't this before? I read somewhere that when the sill panel is removed the car can flex out of alignment?? scott.
  4. I had this situation but the other way around. A lot of my friends know I'm into corollas but don't know shit about them so they often see other cars and go "Did ya see that rolla?!" when a 1200 coupe goes past etc. from reading this post id say the aw11 - exa call would have to be the most insulting. i think id be offended if someone called my ke30 a 120y.   5. James, I bought a write-off ke11 ages ago with a 4A-C in it, the motor is currently in my ke30. All i want to say is, although i learnt alot doing the conversion, in hindsight i probably would have kept the K series and just worked the motor... unless you upgrade to a 4age later. The car i bought had a freakin custom firewall but this is not necessary, as jason said, if you place the motor properly. you'll need a custom tailshaft too. the ke11 i had was engineered and it only had ke20 disc's, standard rear diff and brakes BUT it did roll 3 times into a tree so take that into consideration... Also, Ae71's came with 4A-C's and the brakes on them wouldnt be too dissimular to the ke38 and the ae71's weigh a fair bit more. Scott.
  6. your taking about the ca20 motor. they also come standard in the Aussie gazelle's. I'm going the ca18 into my ke30 also, i was convinced because you can get them dirt cheap. If you can get the ca20 for free with all required running gear, then go for it. the mounts for the ca18 are probably the same or simular so you could always swap one in later. what is the car going to be used for?? scott.

  8. yeah cheers Jamie, thats basically the same line of thinking i was following... even if i just parted the engine up id get my money +more back :P i think ill give it a go. nothing wrong with a bit of fun... ill be working full time next year so a det wouldnt be out of my range either. Hey all, This is more of a - I'm very close to doing this, do you think its worth a go? type thread. heres the low down: i've got a ke35 with a 4ac halfway in. done the hydraulic clutch and suspension. a mate has a ca18de VERY good condition, low k's, well maintained. he wants $400 for the motor with full loom and ecu. it also has all manifolds including tuned length extractors. it has no gearbox. You should all know 400 clams is a months pay and I'm tightarse :P Nay or Yay? convince me... Cheers Scott.
  10. I thought the clear coat provided protection for the paint as well as making it shiny lookin'? i did 4 clear coats on my ke11. I'd definately clear coat it. and like fook said spray it really thin so its almost running.
  11. i've got a BW diff centre thats 3.79:1 (came from ke70 wag) I'm keeping it incase i got interstate one day. Jap diffs unbolt from the front, BW diffs have the bolts on the back... the BW's have a plate mounted on the back that says ratios scott.

  13. DAMN! how nice are the cars in that shed! thats my kinda shed :jamie: this photo is what i was after, looks like they do go all the way to the pivot. thats cool i just thought i may of had a free anti-tramp idea... i might just try it and see what happens. cheers scott.

Has anyone got some pics of an anti tramp setup on a car? does the bar need to reach all the way forward to the the leaf eye pivot or can it be shorter? i basically am wondering if i can use some spare lower control arms welded to one of those plates that mounts the leaf u-bolts to the shock absorbers as an anti tramp bar on my ke30? make sense? scott.
  15. heya all, i happen to have all the bits required to build myself a ae35 (ke35 + 4A-C) for free! i want to get it going with what i have but i don't have a clutch master cylinder. what i want to know is, can a ke10 brake master cylinder be used as a clutch master? i use to own a 4A-C ke11 and as far as i can remember this was done, maybe with some interal changes?? i know you all probably think I'm tight but i want to have the car running and be able to say it didnt cost a cent... cheers scott.

I'm with jamie regarding L20b i got close to putting one into my ke11 a year or two ago. i did a 'dummy' fit into a ke35 and it was a very close fit. the L20b i had, had a backwards sump that fouled on the x-member. if it wasnt for that it wouldnt have been too bad... got some crappy blurry photos if anyone is interested... I'd love to see a vtec honda motor in a ke rolla why don't you try going down the SNEEZI (ke30) road.. what was that? 2ltr turbo of some sort. scott.

Hey dingo, yeah too bad bout the car, seems like you were in the wars! good to see the enthusiasm getting it sorted out... what exactly happened to the locker? i didnt think it was possible to blow a locker! i thought it was usually your axels that get rooted... unless your welds come undone? just take it into work and weld it up again :P catch ya scott.

  19. the wrecker up the road from me has a ke30 4door with a 308 in it. looks 100% stock from the outside, just lowered at the front (weight) he gets cars like this, chucks v8's in them then sells them off to people for $4000-7000 to drive as daily's :P they all keep the original 3k rego too! he also goes in burnout comps. has a ke35 with a 202 straight 6 a few years back. scott.
  20. i'm very proud of this: i managed to convince my mate to put a ke70 diff into his mk1 ford escort! he's locked it up and treats it like crap, running a worked 2ltr through it. its beter for lots of reasons such as: better ratios (best escort ratio thats affordable is like 3.7 or something) bigger drums panhard rod swaybar mounts wider track but still fits in guards 114.3 PCD better handbrake setup. they are good diffs really, be good to have one in my ke11. scott.

  22. stock ke20 front discs (ssssssshhhhhh dnt tell anyone) XE rear drum (lines disconnected for more fun) ok, let me get this straight. not only are you only running small arse ke20 discs but thats ALL you're running!!! SHIET! scott.
