  1. if you pull the sender unit out of the tank, theres a little sensor down where the pick up is, it's the one with a single wire going to it, these are interchangeable with most other Toyota's. just get another sending unit from a wreck and change the sensor over. and no they don't flash. Medicine Man or TRD could shed more light on this.
  2. brake master cylinder is under the dash near the steering column, not an easy job, but also not a hard job, just involves pulling the speedo out and dropping the steering column down.( if i remember rightly ) :jamie: workshop manuals are few and far between for that model liteace, i do have most of the spec's and some later manuals that may help. a lot of the later Y series liteace and townace's are very similar. see how you go.
  3. you need to CC the head as well as a cylinder, depends on what size bore.
  4. really need the chassis code off the liteace before i can tell what you've got. seams a little early to be a y series but i have seen them before, not many of them around. what parts do you need? info is not easy to come by, but most of the later liteace's are the same. if it's a Y series engine as you suggest it is, engines are all interchangeable, 2Y 1.8L, 3Y 2.0L, and 4Y 2.2L. Most Y series were also floor shift (5 speed )while the K series were column shift. if you need anymore info just PM me.
  5. try this link, there's a pdf file with most of the tune up spec's. click
  6. hey mate doesn't sound like you know much about these cars or engines, most 5k's don't have adjustable tappets, but there is some out there that do, search the FAQ, most of the answers are there, if not search the forum, they'll be there somewhere.
  7. whats the chassis code, it could be a y series engine. what info are you looking for?
  8. should be 12 volts or more, sounds like the battery is the problem.
  9. i think you set these up the same way as 18rg!
  10. thats good to hear. hopefully this will fix the problem.
  11. 7AFE with an 4AGE head, 1800cc with the good head. and it has been done!!
  12. you said you changed the ignition barrel, but did you change the pig tail that plugs into the back, it carriers the electrical switch to turn the ignition off and on.
  13. you need to know what pistons you have before you decide on what head to use, just a hint!!!
  14. sounds good, we use forged pistons in the rally car, but have in the pass used cast ones with some interesting results. Toyota make the best cast pistons, they'll handle high rpm(up to 7500-8000) most of the time. The TRD info you speak of is on rollaclub somewhere, i have the spec's here as well. it's a good read, interesting to see how they done it back then. Redwarf could be someone to talk to about pistons, i think he use to run Charade ones in his 4k. not sure of the size though. there was a guy in Timaru (where i come from) called Warren Burt, he was into his k engines he may know of some. think his business was called Warren Burt motors. he had a kp60 that done 136mph over the flying quarter, it was 1300cc.
  15. 79mm pistons were only TRD items i thought, i don't think they are available aftermarket in that size. what sort of quality are you talking about?? forged or cast. what are you going to be doing with the car? racing, rallying or just fast road.
  16. I think someone at Toyota has a finger up Holden and Fords bum, If Toyota had a good RWD car they could have the whole fist up there!!!
  17. nice if we knew where you are?
  18. 4k commercial (van) engines also have a thicker bore, i have bored a 4k to 5k before with no problems. one thing i did strike is the guy boring thought i was nuts.
  19. don't know, we've never had it on the 1/4 mile.
  20. my old KP60 done 16.23 with a almost standard 5k.
  21. nice link!!! :drgrim:
  22. Guys these carbs are easy to service, a standard carby would be harder, just make sure you put everything back in the right place. Carby cleaner is the stuff you should clean them with. the carby kit only comes with gaskets, seals, diaphrams, and needle and seat. NO jets!!! it should also have a diagram with an exploded view of the carby. Don't remove the throttle plates as you can damage these easily. there is also bearings on the throttle shafts, it's good idea to put some grease into these, just pop off the grease seal to get to the bearing. Don't forget to set the float level as well, Google it. it's measured from the base to the bottom of the float with the base upside down, the instructions may even have it. hope that's helpful.
  23. any photos?
  24. I've had this problem before, check the float level, if it's not set right the engine will die in a corner due to fuel surge. i have even seen guys make little baffle plates to go inside the fuel bowel to stop this happening. did the exhaust guys fit the extractors?, they may have knocked something on the carby.
  25. he was driving home from work and it just started making noises, it's just a standard 86kw 4AGE 84 MR2 auto. hasn't been played with at all!!! :lolcry: rev's would have been under 4 grand, easy.
