  1. still like to know what caused the problem with the turbo, if it was related to the oil light coming on or something else??? best of luck with it.
  2. be careful, if they pay out on the turbo part of the warranty and anything else goes wrong with the engine you may void any future claims with an aftermarket turbo fitted. ask the question, and if they say no it won't, get it in writing.
  3. sounds like there's more of a problem than just turbo shitting it's self, 90'000 km's on a toyota is nothing. What's the sevice intervals, they may have to be decresed to 7'000 or even 5'000 k's and also look at the quality of oil there using, you may have to change it to a good syntheic. Castrol RS or Mobil 1. it sounds like there could be a small blockage in the oil feed pipe to the turbo, this can be caused by lack of servicing or poor quality oil. something to think about.
  4. check this out. http://www.rallysportmag.com.au/home/index...35&Itemid=2 go the corolla
  5. some of the early lite ace vans had the dished piston 4 and 5k engine. you could try Garrmax international here in brisbane, they may beable to get some new ones. number is 07 38811692.
  6. No!! that was the early swift that has the twin engines. The escudo engine is based on a 2.7 litre all alloy grand vitara engine, with twin turbos 6 speed hewland box and evo 3 diffs.
  7. this!!!! 1000hp+ in tarmac trim or 700 hp for gravel.
  8. electronic ignition or points?, if it's points they may have closed up.
  9. you can get a 3TGTE, have been working on a rally car that has one in it. As for 3TC, i think not. Good strong engine though.
  10. KM3?? something for the lite ace, they also came with the "Y" engine and the later Townace is the KR42 as mentioned. which also came with a 3SFE RWD. as for the KE70 wagon, it was Malaysia that got them. i'm a bundle of info today. :P
  11. Hiace never had a K engine guys, it was the Liteace and then the Townace. and the 5k came out in a corona and a KE70 wagon overseas somewhere.
  12. kt's a proper jap one as well, check out the chrome bumpers ;)
  13. i've got the TRD info here somewhere, i'll try and link it off my website.
  14. Northern districts sporting car club is holding another test and tune day. here's a chance to go for a ride in a Rally car. from what i know there's going to be quite a few turn up, cars that is. there are also going to be setting up timing controls like what they have in rallys, for anyone who is interested in learning how it's done.
  15. on a different note, the final results, Tony got 4th outright in the corolla.
  16. i dissagree, i used the EOI to see if it was worth rebuilding a 7k and selling it found out today that the 7k i'm selling is worth $1450 and not the $1000 i have it for sale for. so much for EOI's
  17. always a pleasure rob, the service crew is there for that reason, i must say Teedy done a fantastatic job again. just next time we'll bring some warm weather with us. i don't think anyone got any sleep that night it was just too cold.
  18. what not a 7K 1800cc, i have one for sale at the moment, most of the 4k stuff will bolt straight on to it, the only thing you'd have to buy is a 7k carby. plenty of torque.
  19. what irokin said
  20. i had this problem as well. fixed it when i put a denso relay in the fuse and relay panel beside the battery. the australian ke70 only has a heavy jumper wire were there should be a relay, just pull the wire out and replace it with a DENSO relay. if that doesn't fix it you've got other problems.
  21. Mr Revhead's right, replace the knock sensor. they generally work under 4 grand to control ignition timing, retards the ignition when detenation happens, if the sensor is sending the wrong signal the igniton timing will be being retarded, so it'll be gutless and be using heaps of fuel. also check for airleaks between the AFM and the throttle body this can also cause the engine to drink heaps.
  22. 1ggze is a 2.0 litre 6 cyl supercharged engine, good and strong but heavy. personally a SR20 DET would be the go, with the right mod's it'd get close to what you want with out having to cut too much of the car up. all alloy engine as well, less weight=more speed. could try a soarer(lexus) engine, quad cam 4.3 litre, alloy V8. anyhow good luck with it,and if u need any info on the car this is the place you'll find it. welcome aboard
