ok, took it for a drive down the street to try and warm it up. got home, still wouldn't move. decided to call up the local mechanic to see if he could help. wasn't keen on driving the car very far with no plates. turns out one of the mechanics likes rotaries and has an rx4. he had the actual mazda bit and swapped all my plugs for me, free of charge. thanks to all for your input. thats one more thing off my list. cheers. :lolcry:
-
yeh, this is the problem. the cars just warming up now so i'll try philbey's way then if that doesn't work i'm off to find a rotary workshop.

i think it alloy, it's a 4M out of an MS65. i'll go warm it up now. :lolcry:

ok, so i finally got some money and decided to service my crown with my new took kit. 5 of my 6 spark plugs came out fine but the number 5 just wont budge. the metal rod in the end of the plug tube started bending so i called a mate to come and use his 'stronger' plug tube. the plug ended up rounding his plug tube. i then called another mate to borrow his proper sparkplug socket. when he got to my house we found that it was too thick to fit in the gap between the plug and head. :lolcry: does anyone have any ideas? i'm thinking of taking it down the the local mechanic to see if they can get it out for me. cheers, hendo. ps. i have drowned it in WD-40 and CRC.

KEhendo replied to Spoolin's topic in VIC / Melbourne
you're probably right. looks like i'm back in for this one. still trying to borrow a set of trade plates for the day so i can bring the crown. if not i'll be in my 20. i'd like to scalp the ticket but it's a 3 day pass thing. i've got a mate who races HQ's and he gave me a couple of his crew tickets. -

oh noes, i've been offered 3 day tickets to the victorian racing series at PI on this weekend. now i'm only 50% sure i'll be there. -
yay! tool kit. :jamie: needs a clean but it's all there. reversible screwdriver spanners pliers wheel-brace, jack handle and spark plug socket. chock pretty happy with it. going to give it a clean and brush up then it's getting pride of place in the boot.
-
not sure where he got his bonnet and boot from but i do remember a place in america that produced carbon-fiber bonnets and boot. i'll try and find the link.

thanks for your support, :P cheers, i'll have to check him out. only thing i need is that front RHS indicator lens. BREAKING NEWS! last night i was helping a mate who knows nothing about cars install speakers in his daewoo(like i said, he knows nothing). going through his garage looking for some screws i found a.... wait for it... full original toyota motor tool kit for 1969 MS55 crown!!!!!!!!!!!! :jamie: i started freaking out and jumping around and my mates mum came out cos she thought i had been bitten by a spider or something. haha. the short story is that his dad bought a crown new in 1969 and for some reason kept the tool kit. then later his parents split and his mum got the tool kit by accident and just chucked it in the back of the garage. after seeing my reaction to finding it and realizing that it was her ex-husbands she was only too happy to give it to me for FREE! wooh for me! i've got to start going through more of my mates sheds. haha. :hmm:

TTG stickers, proven to: *give the car super drift powers. *make you a better drifter than keiichi tsuchiya *make you irresistible to the ladies. *reduce global warming *stop balding *cure cancer the list goes on... hehe. nice pick up. do these have a higher roof than the sedans?

think i'm going to leave this one for a while. it's not financially viable right now. it's not like i need three cars. (i also have a honda but don't tell anyone :worship: ) after last weeks cruise through the hills i remembered why i love my ke20 so much.
-
no news. progress has stopped. :P no money, no time. not sure where i'm at. part of me wants to just finish it, part of me wants to sell it and part of me wants to do a full restoration. i'd love to have it ready for HSC but short of a miracle the only way it would be there is on a un-reg permit or on a dodgy roady. i don't want to do either of those. hmmmm, any advice?

have seen that car before. somebody mentioned (edit: it was adam back on page 22.) that he pulled it out of someone's backyard. while driving round yesterday i saw a really nice ke15/17. it was gloss black so you could see the car was straight as a die, not a ripple. had all the corolla-1200 badges and was driven by an older gentleman. he saw me first, we both gave the thumbs up. it was nice.

many thanks to Andrew and Sonya for a great cruise. it was great to finally put some names to faces. i couldn't believe that this was my first rollaclub event even though i have been a member for just under 2 years. not sure what was going on with my front end. after trying to tighten every bolt we could find in the front end we found that my front wheel nuts where loose. after continuing on we had no other noises or shakes other than the usual ones. big thanks to Dave and Sonya for escorting me back to civilization. i was a bit freaked out after thinking i might have been chasing one of my wheels down a cliff, or worse. all the pics we got are on my mates camera and i'm waiting for him to upload them. i'll try and get them up here asap. -

sorry if this messes everything up but i have a mate that wants to come, can i be put down as a +1? we can go sit by ourselves at lunch if need be. -
lambo-doors yo. :y:
-
er, now i'm confused. is the car 1987 or 1997?
-
i have a civic form 85 and the only criticism of hondas is that the bodies wear out before the engine does. but like an early corolla in that respect. please correct me if i'm wrong but is this the del-sol version with the taga? i have always like the look of these cars and i'd probably be driving on now if i didn't buy my ke20.

i always saw drifting as rally driving on the road. my impression was that japanese people racing up and down the touges found it was faster to slide the car and keep the revs up to stay on boost rally style than to slow down and grip round the corners. thus drifting is born.
