  1. in cleaning the ms55 i have found $1:85, a 9/32 drill bit and a pencil. haven't found anything on the ke20 yet bit i'm still to pull out the back seat and have a look in there.
  2. haha, yay for stupidity. as i say, cage was only to mount the harnesses to. i don't plan on rolling it but you never know. i have surprised myself before. :hmm: i'll have a chat to adam when i next see him. not sure if i'll have to full cage it because of the lack of side intrusion bars. well, the plan at the moment is pedders lower/uprated springs in the front and just rest leaves in the back. if this makes it too understeery then i'll be sticking extra leaves in the back till i sort it out. will also be putting in a thicker sway bar in the front as i have ruined the handling with just the one in the back. shocks will be determined by whatever i can fit in the front struts. considering the ke50 ones that i picked up if i can get them to fit and can get decent shocks.
  3. i like ke70's in the beige but that has been done to death these days. i like subtle two tone paint jobs. there is a photo of gavclassic's ke70 where it looks two tone but isn't. lighter on the sides and darker on top. this one perhaps you could go for something like this.

he guys. i was in town yesterday and i saw a white corona wagon lowered over different rims front and back. had a cannon. parked in a side street off portrush road close to burnside village. just wondering if it was anyone off here. looked nice.
  5. while in horsham on thursday at about 1:30 i saw a yellow ke70 with some rims and chrome bumpers. i don't want to say it looked like a girls car but it did have fairy seat covers.
  6. i think i saw this at the train station yesterday. black wheels and no front bar?
  7. the one i heard was, opinions are like arseholes. everyone has one and i don't want to see yours.
  8. thanks for the advice pete. i was hoping to do the occasional hillclimb/sprint in the car. nothing serious, just wanted to have a go at driving hard without worrying the boys in blue or worse hitting someone/something. the only reason i wanted the cage was to mount harnesses to. plus, i'm young and stupid so the idea of a ke20 with a halfcage and a loud exhaust is cool. i know i will regret it at one point so all the mods i'm doing will hopefully be reversible. so the cage will just be a bolt in one, i don't really want to flare the guards. i can see stock ke20s only going up in price so i'm keeping all the old bits. lets see if i can have my cake and eat it too.
  9. omg. pretty much hate Adelaide right now. first i miss out on GOR now i miss out on this because i'm going to be stuck in that overgrown country town with the folks from thursday till sunday. :P
  10. you have no idea how tempting that is. i'll have to get all my bits together first.
  11. thanks for the comments guys. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=38786 according to this thread i can use ae86 shocks in my ke20. this opens up a whole world of shocks at my finger tips. (and takumi tax) is there much difference between gas and oil struts? pros/cons? using the front struts would only be a resort if i couldn't use the backing plates and calipers on my ke20 struts. what sort of red line should i be looking at with just rebuilt internals? the comp was good 2 years ago when the engine was put in the car. is there a reason for it to have dropped? in the faq it says something about 8k but i think that was a maximum not a recommended redline. yeh, thats the one. i like the passengers seat out of it too but was unsure if it would fit and the matching drivers one was stuffed. didn't have a look at the ke70's today.
  12. well after much stuffing round with other crap (not just the crown) i have finally got my act together and got motivated to start working on this again. some small updates include, fitting of steering wheel, some mazda 13inch wheels for my good michelins, 'half moon' headlight covers. transfer of my [HEND-0] number plates. wheel toyota center. thanks to max for this. black 13s. new headlight covers. plates on. now, it's time for upgrades and general tidying that i've wanted to do since i've had the car but never found the time. this includes fixing this pitting if it isn't too bad or rechroming if it is. fixing this huge chunk of bog that is falling out. not really keen on wanting to see what's behind this or how deep it actually is. ;) stripping and painting all these silver bits. (grill, under grill bit, indicator surrounds, ram-air conditioning scoops brake surrounds) nipping this in the bud before it gets bad. there is also a small bubble on the bonnet and a hole about the size of a pen hole in the rear quarter just behind the wheel that i want to see to as well. mods to come. don't worry, i'm not putting chromies on it and cutting the springs. went down to the wreckers and picked these up. i was hoping to find some ke30 ones for the bolt in (slight) brake upgrade but there where none at pick pay n go. i got these out of the ke50 liftback there hoping if they will fit. can anyone shed some light on this? if i am not able to just use the brakes, and i use the whole strut? will i need to swap the tops over? (the thing with the 3 bolts and the rubber mount) these where the earliest struts down there (78 iirc) and are running sumitomo calipers. my rear shocks where worn out a long time ago and look as if they have been there since 72 by the amount of road crap on them. these will be replaced by something much better when i get to the suspension work which at the moment consists of a slight(40-50mm) lowering job and some stiffer rate springs. have not done any specific research into this but a few people have recommended KYB adjustable ones. me being the wanker that i am want some kind of trd shock. :) blues or greens. but as i say, i need to do some proper research into it. i have also picked up a 32DMTR weber carby off a fiat 128. after some advice and a super handy diagram form Taz_Rx i'm thinking i might not use it and have a go at bike carbs. the more i think about them the more they start to make sense. i have talked to a mate that can weld and he's willing to have a go at a manifold for me. i was thinking flange/some kind of short metal tube/silicone adapter/carbs. this is only a preliminary thing and i still have to work out intake sizing/carb jetting/where to get the silicone bits form. maybe even having to beef up the fuel system. if it starts getting ridiculous then i'll just forget the whole idea but if it can be done for about 6-700 then i'd be quite happy. there will hopefully be some kind of camshaft coming later on but i'm still undecided on what profile. all depends on, if i have the $$$ to balance the engine for more rpms and what intake i end up using. i'm hoping for the car to be super fun and rev to just over 7000 but not be a complete pig in traffic if i need to daily it. exhaust is getting planned out. at the moment it's looking like a 2in system with a trick or two but might end up just being boring with mufflers and stuff. i want the wheels will end up being 14 by 6 or 7ish. i want some decent rubber but i don't want massive flares or to munch my guards. may end up getting some te27 flares if i get over excited with my wheel choice. i have flirted with the idea of a half cage with buckets and 4 point harnesses but this my be a little too far for the street and by my understanding need to be engineered. i've set myself the goal of having it done by the time i'm on my full license (june 2011). if all goes to plan and nothing comes up it should be done... maybe. i'd love it to have done by GOR 2011 but i'm not going rush it if it's not the way i want it. good on you if you lasted through all my ramblings. please leave a comment if you can help with advice in any of the areas. (struts, bike carbs, cam, suspension, halfcage ect.) cheers, alex. [/rambling update]
  13. spotted an orange ke30 on malvern road just near wattletree road. all hanging panels where yellow and the boot was held shut with rope.
  14. i like them on car that where designed to have them. yes, ke20s had the option for whitewalls from the factory so that's why i have/had them on my car. i find it helps to break up the side of the car when running big profile tyres. (by big i mean 65+)
  15. what kind of gearbox would you have to put behind this? i'm assuming there would be no rwd bellhousings for the 4e but correct me if i'm wrong. custom stuff would be way too expensive for someone like me who has no access to any fabrication facilities.
  16. that magna thing on carsales was complete BS. i remember when it first popped up, it was for sale at $3k. the hks engine alone is worth way more than that. notice in the engine bay shot that he has put any distinguishing features (lights, bumpers, grills, mirrors, ect) just out of shot? either way, there is no rational reason to convert a fwd car to rwd. all the stories you hear of people doing it are experienced car builders/fabricators and only ever do it for the fun or shock factor on peoples faces.
  17. hey JiP, the headlights on the red 37 dodge look to be off a E class merc. the whole car is a little wrong to me. i never like cars with carbras on. the white/cream one is much nicer but if it where mine i'd ditch the stick on bullet holes.
  18. just about to make that point. whiteline = selby's i've got there one for the ke20 fitted to my car and it makes a world of difference. BUT only if you up-rate the front one too. at the moment i have the same problem as coln72, me car cocks the inside wheel on tight turns. i'm not saving my $$ for the front one to match to hopefully rectify this problem.
  19. hey guys. can i join up tonight if i just bring myself down with the $55? i've been meaning to join up but never got around to it. the start of a new year seems as good an excuse as any. :) meet at 8 still?
  20. i think this is more what he meant.
  21. not sure if this helps but on my ke20 i'm running 175/70r13s on mazda rims in place of my stock 12s and i'd say they are perfect. no rubbing or scrubbing at any amount of steering lock or suspension load.
  22. there is a yellow ke70 wagon in pick a part kilsyth with a 5 speed in it. i took the gear knob hoping it would fit my k40. it didn't. if anyone picks up the 5 speed and wants the gearknob, come pick it up and its yours. |blink|
  23. found this pic in my crown travels.
  24. just saw andy tooting me as i mowed the lawn. also saw a yellow ke20 with hotwires turning right off dandy rd (presumably to Peter Robinson's). may have been the car that (pozman?) was selling for a friend?
  25. there where 2 ke70 flat fronts last time i was there. one yellow, one white. parrot has been in the meanwhile. he will be able to inform you more.
