The 1zz-fe engine in mine is more torquey down low but doesn't have much up high. the 2zz-ge which is in the tivos has 40 more kw than and its more like 5000 the vvti kicks in you can really feel it and then you feel it again when the lift kicks in. so for 3200rpm your in powerband and once you change into second your straight back into power. i'm soo impressed with the way ours drives i'm gonna pay it off and get myself a tivo.

just to add to the above upon more discussing and research a lot of modern cars a now painted with this method. the possibility of the paint failing is very real if it isn't done right. but.... in saying that manufacturers now more often than not when using that paint method bake the paint after laying the acrylic. this eliminates ALL possibility of the sovlents still being there and hence reacting with the chemical 2 pack. comparing 15yr old paint methods to what we have now is like comparing apples with oranges
-
ok. according to the paint tech at work you can do it. the notion that you can't come from the acrylic being a sovent based paint. and to dry the solvents need to evaporate. this evaporation is what can cause the 2 pack on top to crackle or bubble up. this has come about by looking at older car and you see the clear coat peeling away etc. also that the acrylic paint is 'soft' or moves as such. to answer no.1 the acrylic needs to be allowed time to properly dry. at least 24hrs... also depends on humidity temp, etc. it can take up to a week in cold temps. in a crash shop this isn't real feasable.... IF the solvents have completely evaporated then there is no problem with it. older cars were painted using older style paints.. new clearcoats have a lot better attributes to them. Du Ponts oe8000 has an incredibly high UV rating which will protect for years more than what the older paint would've. no.2 Acrylics are a soft media. unless hardener is added. but in most cases you don't use it. so to stop the paint from 'moving' you sandwhich it in between 2 hard surfaces. 2 pack primer 2 pack clear. this is used quite commonly on cars called a 'tri coat' finish. To simply assume because of older paint systems that have failed after 15yrs that acrylic is a no go is silly. paint has come a long way since then. Crash shops etc commonly say it can't be done because thats what they are told... but this is in their circumstances where they can't allow proper time for everything. hence why 2 pack colours are widely used at crash shops. because it a quicker process overall. DNA is a reputable company and their basecoats are acrylics.... you can add hardener but it isn't a necessity. and you still use the same amount of thinners up to 75% its just there to quicken the drying time. I have done a lot of reading on this... the general theme seems to be yes you can, no you can't. Mainly from tradies in the 'Crash shop industry' or DIY'ers so often tradies are fighting on paint forums about this subject. i choose to do this as my work is an industiral painting factory and this is a very common process to use coming direct from Du pont, PPG, Protec, Jotun etc who have all spent squillions of dollars developing painting methods. and also our company has done a lot of work for holden and mitsubishi. but again everyone has opinions regardless of proofs or experience and every tradey thinks they know but even they fight about it.

ah sorry mate that price for the wheels sounds alot better.
-
jase the primer is a 2 pack. the base colours are acrylic. the clear is a 2 pack

good work those wheels look the goods.... $120 bucks for the centres seems a bit expensive even ay... maybe the price of powdercoating in Brisbane is more exxy than in adelaide. just thinking cos to do an entire trailer from start to finish... degrease, sandblast, dismantle, put in jig, caulk and top coat in a metallic pearl powder we only charge $350 bucks!!.
