  1. You really need to modify the rear guards anyway, otherwise the flares available don't sit correctly
  2. Body yes, window frame no.
  3. http://www.autocables.com.au/ Yarrambat Vic http://www.cablesandcontrols.com.au/ Lidcombe NSW or http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TOYOTA-COROLLA-KE20-25-26-TE27-ACCELERATOR-CABLE-NEW-/261075175840?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cc94b09a0
  4. The only way to realistically tame it down is to put a milder cam in it. It will probably be a lot nicer to drive too, which is probably a good thing.
  5. There are specialist cable places advertised in the car restoration mags like Australian Classic car, or whatever it's called. I'll have a look at home if no one posts them up.
  6. Me too!
  7. Not the same. The second one is for markets outside Japan, not including USA. Possibly, (I don't know) the Jap ECU may have mapping for higher octane fuel.
  8. 89661-12030 is Japanese market AE82, MAP 89661-12080 is also for an AE82 and also MAP
  9. Yes it was. You and I often cross paths buying on the interwebs Tally! They had a zip file of detail photos of the car before it was parted out attached to each auction of bits from it and it looked OK, having a detailed look at each photo. The front seats sold for just over $1000 so can understand why they parted it out. Always interesting when you see another yos... as highest bidder, wondering who it is. The actual shell cost $486. Remains to be seen what the final shipped cost ends up as.
  10. Not really. Easier yes. I picked up the KE25 long ago planning on sticking a spare 4AGE in it, before deciding to go with a 2TG instead. From there I started sourcing parts from Japan, Europe and the US. Crossmembers, pedal boxes, brake masters, looms, diffs, clusters, etc etc etc. Myriad small bits and pieces. Few 2TG's and T50's locally. Then this came along. Didn't occur to me until I was chatting to TE278U recently that if I got the shell, I would have a complete actual TE27. Had a chat with Aaron at Import Monster, next thing you know, it's on the way. I already have everything to build a complete car, and the shell I had needed some work, so why not. To bring in a complete car from Japan you would be looking at roughly $20,000.
  11. It's a TE27 shell. All the TE27 parts I have sourced were intended to go into my KE25 shell. Now they will go into this resulting in another local TE27.
  12. There is some rust at the base of the B pillars, and also the pockets at the rear. Doesn't look to be too bad. Hopefully that's it other than the surface rust you mention. Remains to be seen what the rail is like under the battery tray though. Car is still in japan so have to wait and see when it arrives. Good test for our friends at Import Monster, delivering a non rolling shell!
  13. What I'm thinking is that presumably you have some sort of plate that the cable is located through? You could put a bike cable adjuster in that. Good to hear about the cluster!
  14. Can you put a bicycle cable adjuster in place of where the cable is secured at the carby end?
  15. So there has been an interesting development........
  16. I'll probably roll past Rare Spares on Thursday on the way to Import Monster for my regular pickup..... I'll let you know what the go is.
  17. Interested to hear if anyone has any comment about these. Are they worth working with or a waste of money? FRONT FENDER LOWER COROLLA KE20, $55.55
  18. Another member brought to my attention that Harvie's KE15 is in the latest Fast Fours and Rotaries (July 2012). Just bought it today. Good write up with some great photo's.
  19. I saw these on yahoo the other day. A bit ghetto, but may be ok if you are a good welder......... The translation to Japlish says, "Was removed from the 2-door Corolla KE10 late. KP61スターレット用のRシャフトを改造してPCDを110→114,3に変更されています。 Has been changed to 110 → 114,3 PCD make modifications to the R shaft for KP61 Starlet"
  20. Is the speedo cable common (or suitable)
  21. That is likely a JDM model only I would say, so unlikely to see that bonnet here (thank god - it's bloody awful). Toyota Australia always had an interest in AMI through the 60's before taking the controlling interest in the 70's as I understand it. I must say, it is very refreshing to hear of the response you got at Toyota. Whatever, for marketing purposes they could call a model whatever they liked in various markets. Certainly the cars here wouldnt have had the horizontal flutes in the scuttle vents, vertical flutes in the C pillar vents, sprinter badging on guards and so on. Just like a TE72 was called a T18 in Australia, just marketing.
  22. This is from a Weber conversion booklet put out by Borg Warner (they used to be the Australian Weber agents) sometime in the early 80's giving a listing of suggested jet settings for various tunes, including Corolla's (1200) for twin 40mmDCOE on both stock and full competition engine, Celica's etc amongst many others. I have put the whole listing up in case you have something else of interest in the shed. It lists suggested choke, secondary venturi and assorted jet sizes. This should give you a bit of an idea for a reasonable state of tune prior to heading along to your friendly local dyno. weber settings.pdf
  23. Here you go. early sprinter.pdf
  24. I'll post up a picture of an early type KE25 Sprinter tomorrow. The bonnet in particular is quite different.
  25. I ended up grabbing a set from a KE26 since it was sitting at the wreckers. Then had to go back a couple of days later after realising I would need the castor rods and brackets, plus crossmember to chassis bolts also.
