  1. Personally I didn't think much of drifting and going sideways etc at all, to me the best kind of thrill is driving hard in the mountains, however I like the idea of no 2nd chance when driving so Rally appeals to me a lot. Drifting to me has been brought from the underground in Japan and presented on a world platter, and if you know anything about Japanese moden culture you would know they like to be different, hence all the show pony stuff. I respect drifting as it is technical and it does require skill, personally I reakon the cars look fantastic however I like anything designed for race use that looks different. I still wouldn't mind to get a RWD and give it a go and see if I like it.
  2. Hello Men / Boys & Ladies I have came across this :blinks: : HY Automotive When looking for a Starlet EP71 dash loom / ecu plug guide. :D DieCast Nation Good site about diecast cars, if you're into that sort of thing :angrybird:
  3. you're so coming with me to the next skid pan day :P
  4. Well, honestly, I think its fantastic. It is my fave 'car' movie of all time.. and yeh your spot on Sirolla in order to make sense of the movie, they HAD to make some changes from the cartoon. Otherwise it would be more WTF????? I have the actually proper DVD with english subtitles, and its great. So yeh, if your a major fan of Initial D then you'll love it, if your a fan of the cartoon then you'll won't like it.... however that said.. just think of what Sirolla said, imagine trying to cram the whole lot in 2hrs... ???
  5. I have just finished watching Initial D - The **real** movie. I must say at 1st its a little 'wtf' that didn't happen in the comic or thats completely wrong... so when watching just remember its loosely based on the cartoon, however they do a decent job of craming the whole 1st series into the movie. I enjoyed it, however if you're a true follower of the cartoon, you may not like it. That said, there is some fantastic drifting through the mountains, the acting is decent, and footage is great. I don't wanna give to much away, so I'm not saying any details. If you can get your hands on a copy then enjoy. I rate Initial D the movie :P :rocknroll: :rocknroll: :rocknroll:
  6. Happy Birthday Haikal, sorry its a late one buddy!
  7. Hey guys, Some of you may be aware that it was my 24th birthday not to long ago and my g/f organised for me to attend a Advanced driver training day including skid pan. Damn did I have some fun, I actually enjoyed myself a bit to much and didn't try to set any decent times on the timed little races we had. Learnt a whole bunch of stuff about breaking, turning and breaking, but more importantly the limits of the Astra.. and the limits where reached very quickly!!! I found myself getting the little thing skidways to many times, and I must say it's very easy to get yourself out of a pickle if needs be. My competitetion for the day include: 2004 model 993 GT3 Porsche (Built for Targa Tas with Camera gear!) Audi A4 fitted with GT30 Turbo + Porsche breaks Audi TT tuned Audi S3 tuned Audi S4 VW Golf R32 (V6 AWD) VW Golf GTI tuned Mazda RX8 tuned Mazda MX5 tuned :D Well... my best result was being only 1sec off the time off the VW GTi, don't ask about the others! I didn't have much memory so only photos for now, I have a couple of vids of me, R32 and S4m but I need to work out how to host them. Anyhow boys and girls... I highly recommend that you go and attend, learn some stuff and cut fully sic bro :D
  8. Are you sure spectators can go? on my one it says NO spectators in big writing, I'm not sure if its because its an all day thing with theory lessions etc ?
  9. I have had to pull out of going to the event, friend will take my camera and get some snaps for me tho. :D
  10. I think I'll make an apperance, I promised my friend I'll tag along, bit sad you can't make it, I'll make sure I take heaps of photos.
  11. Welcome ! and enjoy your stay!
  12. As a general rule of thumb, its a good idea to replace the clutch when the engine is out of the car, Nick is right servicing a FWD car can be expensive when you start having to do things to the clutch!
  13. Corolla's are known to be strong car, tho like every car they get old and things do go wrong. The only time will you have to worry about CV joints is if your driving in a way to put more then normal stress on the CV joints, don't do skids and start turning the steering wheel side to side etc... this type of driving will limit the life of your engine, driveline and tyers. A negative aspect of owning a FWD car is the extra wear and tear that happens to your front wheels, these is due to the front wheels having to act as the steering and power delivery. Don't be put off, FWD cars are fantastic for zipping about here and there as daily drivers, and if your into drag racing, you can invest some money into a decent suspension setup and enjoy having power to the ground mucher quicker then RWD/AWD but be warned to much power and you'll fry the tyers and go no where :)
  14. yep what Nick said, they are a very nice rolla and you have a lot of options down the modifying path. Personally I would go for a 100KW 4AGE or 4AGZE, I'm pretty sure you can even use a black top 4age with 6sp in them. :) If I remember correctly its either a drop in affair or one engine mount needs changing...however be warned, when changing engines etc please remember that you may encounter problems behind the dash with electronics. There is a member of Rollaclub team with a nice ae92, I'm sure he will see this thread and be of more help to you then me ;)
  15. thats it! and a CAMS thing too you forgot... but damn! I'm going to get on my g/f's case now and make sure we actually put money into the maxi fund!! I found a good site which bids on yahoo auctions on your behalf and the dude does all the postage etc and works it all for u.
  16. Damn! you guys rock! I'm really impressed! One day I hope to race like you guys
  17. Ok I'm going on the 27th with Audi Club, sorry boys I didn't have a say as this was booked a very long time ago by my misses for me for my Birthday :jamie: I'm already nervious
  18. You don't like him? hmmm I'll let his tyers down hehehe :jamie:
  19. Ohwell I will see what happens before then, and yeh I just wanna take my daily driver.... soarer or astra doesn't matter  And yeh your right JUST DO IT :jamie:
  20. damn! he/she must have some serious mula :y:
  21. Do u think I should just wait for my next car which will be twin turbo and rwd, and I have 100% no idea how to drive it when traction is lost (from what I gather completely the opposite to FWD) I'm not saying I'm the best FWD driver out there but I do know how to drive one quickly and I would benefit on learning some new things.. however I would benefit alot more from learning to drive a RWD... damn that sounds lame hhehe :y:
  22. Is it a big wet pad? and a figure 8 track from what I saw from the videos? do you get to go around the mount cotton track?
  23. no one wants to go? I hear there will be a real GT40 racing and the RS200 :y:
  24. oh man I so wanna go! I think I might have some money from my birthday, and finally I have a car that won't break down on the track let alone trying to get there...... hmmm will see what happens on Thursday/Friday to see if I can get some money up :y:
  25. Toyota did make a 8v 4cyl Turbo Corona, however finding one alive now days is liking finding the Yeti :y:
