  1. hail last night :)
  2. I bought new lenses and bulb holders off ebay.. dude in thailand I think. Can't remember what I paid, but roughly $100 for the pair.. which I thought was good considering wreckers wanted $50 a side for shitty used ones. Other people thought I was mad but meh... I like new parts :)
  3. For sure! Not quite the intent of the temporary permit, but don't worry about that :)
  4. st141 is a bit of an orphan as far as i know because they were largely built with australian content. the rt132/xt130 seems to the popular one
  5. From the TCCA newsletter this month: 8:30am-10:30am October 17 will be the second Cars, Coffee and Donuts, meeting point will be at Westfield “Plenty Valley” Shopping Centre, located at 415 McDonalds Rd, Mill Park. Degani Bakery and Cafe located inside the Shopping Centre are open from 7:30am, for those who would like to purchase a good coffee. I will have a supply of donuts for TCCAV members. I would like to openly invite anybody from other Car Clubs who would like to join us and display a car, or just come along to see some interesting Toyotas and talk all things automotive and more. As this is an Official TCCAV event, all H and CH plated cars are welcome. Please represent TCCAV in the best way possible by driving responsibly and refraining from antisocial or offensive behaviour. Evan G from the Rollaclub website is organising a cruise from Mill Park to Kinglake for lunch, and then on to Sugarloaf reservoir afterwards for some photos. He is asking people to meet at Mill Park McDonalds, (corner Plenty Rd and University Drive) just around the corner from where we are meeting for Cars Coffee and Donuts. All welcome. I can be contacted on the day on 0422 328 332 or beforehand if necessary. See you there! -Dave

  10. Its high time I got on and finished the old girl isn't it! Perhaps my target needs to be Hanging Rock 2011!! I have very little left to do... it comes down to needing some final dollars so that I can install the engine once and do it right... Really all that is left on the to do list is install 18rg and solexes with rodger's cable throttle kit install 5 speed and hydraulic clutch paraphernalia fit new clutch reco radiator fit xt130 struts do something about the ride height that hasnt settled enough to look good And it should be on the road... Its just having the last $$ for the clutch and radiator that is holding me up.. and a lack of time. Oh and I just bought a new house with a big shed, so that is going to be a show stopper for the next few months I suspect.... anyways... enough excuses already.... here is a pic of the engine ready to go... albeit I want to paint the rocker cover. I hope that image works.. for some reason imageshack has now made it into the banned list at work too :(
  11. Friendly reminder that next Tuesday will be our next monthly meeting. Come one come all to Bells Hotel South Melbourne. 8pm meeting start. 7.15ish if you want a meal before hand.
  12. Torquay Show is on October 31st. There is mention of it in the Vic events section :) More Crowns! More Crowns!
  13. Is the radiator blocked? Give that a flush too..
  14. mebbe... i should have played it different... and just suggested a nice sunday drive down the coast in veronica :)
  15. Hmm... I did a poor job of convincing Mel that a ride in Veronica down to Torquay with my Mum would be the perfect Sunday.... dammit!
  16. Hi folks Just putting together the TCCA calendar for October and realised the Torquay Motorshow is on October 31st. Gates open 9am and judging starts at 11am. It was a really good mix of cars last year and a really great spot by the water, but not enough Japanese machines :) Any one interested in making a day of it? Information and entry form can be found here - http://www.clubrunner.ca/Portal/Home.aspx?cid=1967 Given I don't have a Toyota that I can use.. I was thinking the VW maybe. Though my Mum will be in town so I will have to convince that a cruise is a good thing! Photos from last year here - http://picasaweb.google.com/adamlaws1974/TorquayMotorShow2009
  17. Do the Corona Xt130/RT132 strut conversion for your bigger brakes, and that gives you better strut insert options too. Good springs, good shocks front and rear and you will be set... and have spent all your moneys.
  18. This question is answered multiple times as Evan alluded to... search is your friend. How much money do you want to spend. This will dictate the answer. But a good budget upgrade would be kings fronts, what ever shocks you can afford that fit - Monroe/KYB/Pedders, reset rear leaves and sway bar from the late 55's.
  19. Great photos!
  20. Meridian Motorsport have some different bits and pieces listed for T-50.. probably as a distributor for Albins I suspect. http://www.mmsport.com.au/products/1497/T50-5-Speed-Helical-Cut-Synchromesh-Gears
  21. I had 15x7's on a ke35 with very mild guard flares... I would suggest if they were on an AE86 which is RWD they will be ok.
  22. Start with the basics first. All the overheating could certianly have led to a blown head gasket.. but what caused the over heating and the subsequent blown headgasket? Sometimes they go by themselves, most of the time something caused the car to overheat and then do the headgasket. No leaks is good. You say thermostat is good, so I will assume you have replaced it or checked it. So tick that box. Water pump has been replaced so you should be sweet there. Next one on the list - is the engine fan/thermo fan coming on? Check that. The radiator is in what kind of condition? I am tipping that its blocked and full of gunk and that is why the car is overheating, as its not getting enough cooling. One way to check this is to put your hand on the fins of the radiator (away from the fan and anything that will hurt you!) and feel the temperature across the width and height of the radiator. If its really hot in places, and really cold in places, you have a blocked radiator. Every single Toyota I have ever owned has had a blocked radiator because people use water instead of coolant etc, then corrosion starts, and then that stuff blocks the radiator.
  23. They will ass rape you either way I have found :) I would be pulling the lock out and having a crack myself :)
  24. Now I have seen everything... a cool Volvo wagon!
  25. The best way would be to weld up the holes... otherwise maybe try and find some tiny rubber grommets to fill the holes on the doors.
