  1. Hurry up and finish it will ya?! Been making good progress of late. I have ulterior motives...I want to see the KE15 on the road :)
  2. reckon you need to be asking in the right spot try the dedicated crown thread on toymods... heaps of knowledge there
  3. Spotto... Evan turning into Werribee Plaza yesterday afternoon. I was in stealth mode in my borrowed clubsport wagon, so you wouldn't have seen me :)
  4. Welcome jedzwagon... jelly beans were old school RWD wheels, so the chances of finding them in 4 x 100 is remote, and the offset probably won't do good things to your bearings and cv's either.
  5. Nice score. Other M series engines fit without too much drama. 1UZ struggles thanks to the chassis / suspension set up. Engine is too wide. LS1 fits nice though I believe :)
  6. Good turn out...thanks for organising it Brendon Pac's silver RA23 is gorgeous!
  7. Mmmm 18RG goodness :)
  8. put another one in? some more information on what you have in your car... what you are planning on doing with it... and how much money you have to spend might get a more helpful answer!
  9. And..... the money shots! All the hose clamps need replacing with ones that arent as big. The cam cover needs to be painted crinkle red Hoses need detailing Hose coming out of the cam cover actually needs to go some where, and the charcoal canister needs to be hooked up or something too. And I need to get the dizzy rebuilt and electronicified. Damn project cars are never finished are they :D
  10. Yeah as far as I know circuit racing in karts is the best and most affordable option for kids under 14/15. Oakleigh Kart Club is one of the bigger clubs in Melbourne, but it depends on where you are as to where will suit.
  11. Mmmm Crowns!
  12. I think he was $20 on oztion.com.au 2 years ago... last time I looked there were others advertised.
  13. We have a winner! I have been having issues getting the old girl to run properly. Stalling at lights, dropping off to just two cylinders, it was starting to shit me to tears. Anyways I put in new needles and seats, and that fixed it... for 5 minutes... then it returned to her old ways. Then Saturday week ago I noticed the fuel filter had changed colour inside to a muddy murky brown colour. When I whipped it off it was full of muddy rusty fuel, and I realised my problem was likely to be my fuel tank. So I wrestled the tank out and sure enough it was rusty and full of sand and corrosion. Not pretty. Off it went to the radiator place and got dipped in their tanks to clean it out. Took it home again and last Saturday I had to install it, determined I wasn't going to miss Hanging Rock for another year! So fuel tank went in. Got the fuel lines connected up with much swearing and grunting. Put 15L of fuel in, and then discovered about 3L of said fuel sitting in the wheel well. Turns out the seal around the fuel filler connection in the tank was shite. So tank came out again. Found something that would seal it. Tank went in, and fuel stayed in this time. Happy days! I cleaned out all the fuel lines as best I could, and ran a wire through the fuel pick up to get all the crap out of that too. Banjos were sludged up good so thanks for that tip Rodger! Cleaned the bowls out as best I could. Then with a new fuel filter on board I fired her up, played with the mixtures a little and took her for a test run. Everything was good! No stalling, no missing, just driving. Happy days!! So she got her first wash in 18 months and then I went and filled the tank to the brim. Still no leaks! Early Sunday morning I fired her up.. and with no dramas drove to Hanging Rock, and back again. Success!! Thanks Rodger (Solex guru) for all your help and perseverance when clearly my fuel tank was a major player in our issues. Your patience is much appreciated. Couple of photos from the day

Thanks to Ian for organising and leading the cruise up to the grounds, it went exceptionally well! 21. The oval may suck Nobs.. but it has many positives like a better opportunity to be all parked together, and no risk of falling tree limbs on to your pride and joy when a storm hits ;) If you really don't like it you can park else where though :) Or organise the cruise next time :) hehe
  22. Sounds like you need a kind soul to grab one for you from Centre Rd Wreckers Leah.... I am sure some one here will volunteer and can drop it off to you!
  23. I have never read that the XT130 booster suits a KE70. Rest of it looks common enough. As for getting the suspension out, its pretty easy - just unbolt what you see. I tend to take the brakes off the struts as it makes it easier to manage, but that is just pussy me.
  24. My observations on all old Toyotas continues to be that they are mostly 30 or 40 years old and the radiators are blocked full of rust and what ever other sediment is created from corrosion, due to not being properly maintained. If you have not reconditioned the radiator (usually costs less that $200), replaced the thermostat and water pump and checked the condition of all your hoses, you will continue to have cooling issues. People fark around trying to hose out their radiators to get the blockages out, but nothing beats the caustic baths that radiator shops soak a radiator in overnight to get the sh*t out.
  25. According to this thread on toymods, where the angle of the strut housing was measured compared to the stub axle, there is definitely a difference between MA61 and KE70, with the MA61 giving more positive camber. http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/showthread.php?t=50999&highlight=database But strut tops and different LCA's may negate this. I don't know what effect all those angles have on scrub radius / steering geometry, but I am tipping its not ideal. In case you can't see that thread, the summary of the angles was RA40: 7.6 or 8.4 degrees KE70: 8.4 RA28: 8.4 TA22: 8.4 XT130: 8.7 MA61: 10.6 MX83: 13.1
