  1. Speaking of KE20's.. TCCA got an email looking to sell a one owner orange KE20. Its auto and looks to be a bit faded and some spots of rust, but it might make a good project for someone. Its near Geelong and they are looking for around 2 grand. Still registered until October I believe. PM me with your email address if you want me to foward you the details.
  2. Toymods guys are having a cruise next Saturday through the hills if any of you want to tag along... its on the 10th July.
  3. mark 11's don't actually sell for that much sadly.. a really good nick one might be a couple of grand i reckon the diff's in them are quite popular for conversions though
  4. Slotted will improve it to some degree, but you can't beat size when it comes to brakes. I would put the money towards bigger rotors and better calipers... but depends on your application. Are we talking a car with a K engine drive on the street, or a race car with a 7K?
  5. Clean yellow *e7* panel van turning on centre rd near centre rd wreckers. Wasn't close enough to get a good look at the driver but the car looked neat as a pin.
  6. So when will she be coming hillclimbing? :jamie:
  7. Good idea on the hinge thing.. wonder where I can buy them! Will have to go look.
  8. Took Veronica to the VW meet last weekend. I love driving this car! The meet was held at a cool hotrod workshop called Rancho Deluxe in Collingwood... will have to take my real camera nex time! It rained lots on the way home, so it rained inside the car on my feet as well... figured it was time to have a proper look. The drainage tube had a metal joiner in it which has rusted and fallen apart.. so that is one source of water leak but I realised there was multiple sources when I had a proper look. I will fix this one with a new joiner of some description. Further investigation up behind the dash with a torch and I could see much rust, and lots of self tappers, and maybe even a rubber glove :( So I got in under the bonnet and peeled the trim off that bulge in there.. here is the sight that greeted me D'oh, but not really unexpected in a Type 3 I guess. Shame someone did a dodgy repair once before and didn't do a good job of it, but ah well such is life. I put the cover back over it, and will worry about it another day. There looks to be some funkiness around the brake fluid reservoir area, but I decided that ignorance was bliss and didn't look too hard!! Given it was now hosing down outside it was time to fiddle inside. I have been toying with the idea of building a suitcase stereo, with bits that are floating about the garage. So grabbed my ipod, an old amp, some wire and a jumper battery and tested it all out. Worked brilliantly, so now I just need to find a suitable suitcase, and do some wiring :) So today I went to Altronics today and bought some hardware: 2 x 6x9 speakers - $59 1 x Cigarette Lighter socket with Alligator clips - $8 (might cut the clips off and hardwire it in when its all sorted) 1 x cigarette lighter plug with swith (can turn it on and off) $8.50 A great guy on a veedub forum kindly donated a good looking suitcase to the cause, thanks Ben! I sat everything inside the suitcase tonight just to start getting my head around how I will put it together. Right now I am thinking I will get a piece of MDF, and make a platform / lid that goes right across the suitcase opening. I will then screw the speakers into that, and mount the amp in between them. Will then drill many holes in the suitcase lid to allow the sounds to escape. Will run a lead with the cigarette lighter plug on it into the back of the suitcase to power the amp. Can unplug it and roll it up and take it away easy enough. Need to fit the cigarette lighter socket in the back of the car some where easy to get to, but not in the way of the seat moving, and wire that to the battery. Drill a small hole near the handle some where and the ipod lead can go in through that. Then trim my MDF lid in something that looks decent, and hopefully job done. Can any one think of any problems with my ideas?? I am not so good with wiring.. all I know is its bad when the smoke gets out!! Small youtube video of it playing.. be better if the speakers werent sitting on their magnets I think.
  9. Sensational!
  10. Tomorrow night (Tuesday) is Club Night. As Mike Raymond used to say... BE THERE!
  11. If you are running standard springs and not coil overs, you won't get as much negative camber as would be possible with coil overs, but it should make some difference
  12. Yes the car got a roady in NSW and rego'd up there. Its in my brothers name, but hopefully it won't be too hard to transfer it to me down here. Probably will need another roady, not sure.
  13. Some where like AJPS will also be able to help you with what you are after.
  14. Getting rare, hard to find without rust for "first car" prices. Toymods forum is full of Celica enthusiasts.
  15. I am saying try a wrecker who has a KE35 and take it off that car. Or look at the wrecking threads here.
  16. Do you want the chrome piece or the rubber seal that attaches to it? If its the chrome piece I would try a wrecker, and probably just take the whole rear window that it is attached to. If its the rubber seal, try rare spares or scotts old auto rubber. when you look at the model specific catalogue its obvious in there.
  17. Cusco make an excellent camber top for KE30-55. I only used mine with coil-overs so can't comment on the effectiveness or otherwise of them with standard springs and spring retainers. AJPS can get the cusco tops for you.
  18. Well I collected Veronica Buttercup from my brother on Saturday. He was pretty keen not to hand over the keys actually... I replaced the plug leads since the old ones were cracked and falling apart. What a c**t of a job that is...... there has been some dodgy servicing done before me I suspect too, since there was a spare spark plug sitting in one of the tubes. Any way on Sunday we trundled down to have a look at the VW nats.. some nice cars there.. and then about 12.30 I hit the road and headed for Melbourne. Veronica cruised well at 65-70mph on the speedo (later confirmed as around 110) and just ate up the miles. I had originally planned on stopping when I ran out of light, but when I hit Albury at 6pmish, I thought bugger it lets go for home. It was rather chilly in there by the end as there is no evidence of a heating system... more clothes on kinda fixed that, but I can't see that being a convincing strategy for those of the fairer sex! Here are a few pics I took on the way home: Refuelling behind the Big Merino's arse... On the road some where Bridge at Gundagai Wallan Service Centre final pit stop Wallan again Home! Never driven a car that gets this much attention.. one bloke nearly drove me off the road in his eagerness to give me the thumbs up. Very amusing. Plans now that she is home is to first save up a bit of coin.. then address some of the things that are becoming apparent: - wandering front end - service and tune - major rainfall inside the cabin above driver and passengers feet - new tyres - fix the little bit of rust before it becomes big bits - heating? - longer term I want to get the rear seat trimmed to match the front.. and sort out the door trims and carpets which are good but not great.
  19. Yes and its in a good home. You are far more committed to the cause than I was! The one in Canberra appears to still be for sale, but as you say I reckon is overpriced and doesn't have sexy SL bits.
  20. They are on sale as supercheap - go buy some, good things to have around the place permanently. That is the axle stands, not the springs :blinks:
  21. Very nice. I should have kept mine eh Parrot? :blinks:
  22. Lets start with the basics. Stuffed chassis is least likely of your issues. You are saying it is pulling when it is in a straight line, not under braking. This means 99 times out of 100 that the front end geometry needs some work. Go get a wheel alignment. $40 and will probably solve your problem. If the issue happens under brakes, then its more likely a brake problem, but as you are saying its not, start with the wheel alignment. No brakes at all like you suggested to begin with could be - rear wheel cylinders leaking, no front pads left, no rear linings left, rear brakes way out of adjustment, or a failure in the master cylinder, or a leaking hose. Check the front pads to see if they have meat on them. Are they worn to a similar level on both sides, inner and outer pads? Are there any fluid leaks? If all that checks out OK, then its not the fronts that have a problem. Rears. Pull the drums off. Is it wet or dry around the brake cylinders/under the rubbers on the brake cylinders? If its wet, replace the brake cylinders. Plenty of material on the shoes? Sweet, now adjust them up, so the rear wheels can only just spin. Give it all a good bleed. Any fluid leaking from the lines and hoses? How is pedal now? If its still shit, then you probably have a master cylinder issue.
  23. Its that time of the month again on Tuesday... so to speak!
  24. Looks like Simon's.. known as twentyeight on toymods.. and maybe here too
