  1. Thanks for your comments Benzo. It would be a good daily, but I have a work ute for that  So its just a good looking occasional car!
  2. Mr Hanky at Hanging Rock Car Show a few weeks back.. was a great turn out of old school Corollas, Celicas, a Crown and a couple of Coronas! Will have to decide on Mr Hanky's future soon. Home loan interest rate rises make my 4 car collection a bit silly...
  3. Just realised I never posted my photo link... here it is. http://picasaweb.google.com/adamlaws1974/H...owFebruary2010# Definitely a good event!!
  4. One day a mechanic's skills and time will be valued like that of a plumber or carpenter, because there will be so few of them out there as no one is entering the trade. But that's not now, and I imagine it will be a tough ride. I can guarantee you that what you want to do with yourself now, is probably not what you want to do with yourself when you are 30. The uni degree is a far better thing to have behind you than a mechanic's apprenticeship. Stick it out and transfer to something more interesting next year. Failing that, look at other trades. For example CNC Machining. If you are good and work for the right kind of business, you can make some seriously cool stuff. And I guarantee its not as hard on your body, and will allow time to pursue your car interest. In fact you will have fun making bits for your car. Welding/fabrication would be another option to consider. How ever if you have your heart set on being a mechanic, try and get a gig outside of a dealership. A general workshop will equip you with broader experiences and different experiences which can only help in the long run.
  5. reproduction - non-genuine copies
  6. Now if you can just get each newbie to read it before asking the same damn question we will be sorted
  7. I bought some repro tail lights from one of the guys on ebay for about $140 delivered. Comes with globe holders and globes which is good. They are good. Needed the wiring loom sorted on one as all the connectors were in the wrong places, but was easy enough to sort out when using the old one as a guide.
  8. Thats OK.. you are sacked from the club... oh wait... you weren't a member yet.... oh well you will just have to join next month :)
  9. WE like new members! Bring a filled out form from the website if you can. Meeting starts at 8ish. There is some socialising/dinner from 7/7.30, usually around table 8.
  10. yeah those rimes are a fail on the wagon. i like the other one much better :) each to their own though. your car, you do what you want.
  11. girlocks are ke70 i think.. and run the same shape pad as a vn commodore. which is good cos lots of people have performance pads available for that caliper :) I have a set on the shelf I shoudl sell come to think of it!
  12. I hope when you say mad rims you mean something no bigger than 15's and with plenty of dish! Chrome 20's on a little old Corolla look shit* :) *in my opinion anyways
  13. Bigport heads although considered rare, appear pretty frequently on here and ebay and go for $70-100. I sold one about 12 months ago on ebay for $75 if I recall correctly.
  14. Are you still getting 13 volts? Celicas have an external regulator that do play up so changing the alternator and fixing your earth issue may not have sorted all your problems. Hopefully it has though!
  15. Anyone with an AE82 want a front spoiler/bumper cover. There was a neat red hatch there yesterday with a good looking front spoiler. Had side skirts too but the numptys had sat the car on their stands directly on the skirt and kind of bent it. I took a photo if any one wants to see what it looks like.
  16. are you talking ke35 two door hardtop on to k255 two door hardtop? i would guess yes they were ok, though one might have intrusion bars and the early one may not. if you are talking ke30 two door sedan to ke55 two door hard top, not a hope in hell.
  17. xt130 corona struts and brakes will fit without cutting and welding. you just don't convert them to coil over and use a normal lowered spring. easy. you will need the corona steering knuckle too.
  18. hehe I followed you out bamboo... i saw a guy carrying 4 hubcaps and i wondered what he had scored lol |blink| oh you must own the ke35 that was in the carpark! nice :hmm:
  19. Definitely the pressure is a factor, but you can buy cylinders of compressed air too, so I think there is more to it than that. As for the rest, all entirely possible. As I mentioned, I was a little dubious about running Nitrogen through them to avoid the "bomb" scenario. so maybe there are a few reasons for it.
  20. yup.. we use it in v8 supercar land.. all because it is dry, and therefore less susceptible to the random unexpected pressure increases that our tyres would experience if we were using "wet" compressed air. its also used to run the seriously heavy duty rattle guns used in pit stop wheel changes.. in this instance its the lack of oxygen that appeals for them too.. its been known for the rattle guns to spark inside... when the hammer is beating away trying to get the wheels off.. and people worry that the oxygen and the bit of oil in them might make an explosive mix. i always wondered about that since the rattle gun is surrounded externally by outside air... but hey.. better people than me have worked this out ;)
  21. 2TG's go very well! Parts are a bit hard to get and expensive is the down side to them. 4AGE's are more modern and better supported in the after market. Old school is cool though. You get stuck in don't you Matt! Very impressive ;)
  22. Nice pick up there Aaron.. that ke35 is pretty special given how original it is. What are your plans for it?
  23. depends what wheel nuts you run on them i think..but plenty of people run wheels that are only located on the studs besst practice is to get the hub centric rings, but like cut springs, plenty of people get away with the alternative 10mm seems like a big difference though i have seen thouse hub centric rings on ebay too
  24. Probably worth getting the fuel pump sorted before doing the tuning. Every thing I have read says the dual carbs don't like more than 4 psi of pressure. You probably already knew that :jamie: If you need any parts for the 2tg, stewart wilkins motorsport is a good supplier www.swmotorsport.com i think
  25. The more the merrier. We are aiming for a large Toyota contingent, so every one feel free to come along :)
