  1. Shame you can't keep it. Good luck with the sale. Tell Evan to get forked ;)
  2. Thanks for both tips - found it ;)
  3. thanks. no wonder i can't find the f**ker ;)
  4. hey all anyone able to tell me where the engine number is on a 4ac in an ae71. have had a look and can't see it, but clearly I am blind! ;)
  5. Manual 5 speed ae71 at centre rd today. tan interior that looked ok from first glance. Pedal box has been taken already. Gearbox appears to still be there (well I assume it is since the shifter is sticking out of the trans tunnel in the right spot!) Not much else there of note.
  6. I reckon I should get off this soap box..but please don't cut springs..especially standard ones. Its illegal and it will void your insurance if you are sprung running them and have caused a big accident. Plus generally speaking the car will handle like a bucket. Spend a few hundred bucks and buy decent lowered springs off the shelf. Pedders, Kings, A J P S all sell them.
  7. Yes I believe they are a 2" strut housing
  8. No need to go as far as the Hilux calipers with the xt130/rt132 struts.. that is massive overkill. Just use the sumitomo twin piston caliper that comes with the corona strut. use the otomoto coil over conversion kit. its well priced and has all the good bits you will need including steel coil over sleeves
  9. yes they would fit. i think the cusco items are a better thing myself.
  10. Ahh a rally car.. about the only thing actually capable of overheating its shocks! Probably worth mentioning that so that all the kids aren't filling up strut housings in their bog stock ke30's eh :)
  11. Awesome find!
  12. Evan A shank nut as you have circled would be a neater and better option. There might not be a whole lot of thread sticking out the top for you to get the nut on to. A J P S sell them by themselves I believe if you want to buy them. I got some made up by my machine shop to suit my Koni strut / Cusco strut top combo in my ke35 race car. I have read various reports where guys have also had to buy the "upper hat system" from T3 to make them work with coil overs and prevent stiction when turning, will be interested to see if you need to do that with yours. Are you just fitting them to standard struts, or using coil overs?
  13. If your road car is over working the shocks to the point they are over heating, there is something seriously wrong with the set up of the car! By all means do it if you like, but don't spout it as a "must do". People don't need to be misled by cockamamy ideas that you think are a good idea.

  15. Your nice new shock insert should be a snug fit inside the strut housing - touching the outer walls and transferring the heat. If it isn't you have the wrong one.
  16. Are you guys serious?? The oil you see inside a wet strut (ie standard Corolla strut) is the oil the strut is actually using to control bump and rebound. Its not for cooling., though that is a secondary effect. If you put a new insert inside a strut housing, this oil/gas is contained within the strut insert. Adding oil to the top of this is pointless IMO.
  17. Sprinter guys use a Hyundai Excel radiator which comes with thermo and integrated switch I think. But first make sure your cooling system is up to scratch. Old Toyotas are usually full of sludge and the only real way to fix it is to get your radiator recored. add a new water pump and thermostat since you have already dropped the coolant, and you will probably find you don't have any more cooling issues
  18. Great cars.. love that Corona hard top
  19. i believe ae86 power steering knuckles are what you are after
  20. Merry Christmas all!
  21. That is funking awesome
  22. Or you could buy King Springs that are lowered and legal to fit for the same money! Or A J P S also do a super low spring for this car. Cutting springs is dodgy - don't do it! Your insurance could be made void if you have a prang and they discover the cut coils. Not so good if you hurt someone badly and are directly responsible for the costs..
  23. Its school holidays again isnt it! I am intrigued. Why would you want to make an AE82 a RWD car?
  24. septembersquall did that to his ke3* wagon actually, but i don't think it ever had a grille.
  25. I have seen a couple sell on ebay in recent times. Sticking a Commodore engine into a Corolla is obviously going to require some custom fabrication. If you can't figure it out and do it yourself, then get a skilled fabby to come and have a look and do it for you. Just make sure you have a big wallet!
