  1. It sure is Dan, Did Evan tell you about the 5k because I was the one who showed him  It was waiting to be picked, happy to hear you got it. Whats the go with the 55?
  2. Nice Corolla mate, the actuall paint finish looks quite good. Just the preparation has let it down. At least its still getting around in Indonesia! Like you I'm thinking its for the choke thats next to the a/c switch. The dimmer switch for the gauges should be on the rh side of the steering column. Looks like a good project!
  3. Awesome progress, this should be a real pearler in no time. Looking forward to the finished product.
  4. Looks great Reed, unique colour choice :y: :y:
  5. Its been before and a member from memory had a ke30 posted up and yes the radiator was mounted sideways. Its just boils down to what your going to use it for. Burnouts, drags but any circuit work it reconsider the choice strongly as the handling will just go out the window as mentioned by the other guys. Good luck with the build mate :y:
  6. Ah fantastic thanks for the tip! I may need to remove those rain channel trims to clean in the a pillars to rid it of anything which may have accumilated in its 17 years. So are you going to reuse those trims for the windscreen, or just use one of those generic rubber seals as seen on Vt Commodores. A few glaziers I spoke to recommended this as it was more effective in sealing and was less likely to have movement and trap dirt/moisture etc, etc. Are you going with an acrylic or 2k paint? Colour choice sounds realy nice. Loving the progress on this mate, keep it up :y:
  7. Second ae92 on here with the ants nest, how did you go about removing that plastic trim goes down the a pillar? and also the windscreen trims? Your advice would be appreciated :y: Nice progress too.
  8. Nice clean ke70 mate, those early Skyline rims look really good with fat rubber :y: :y:
  9. No worries mate glad to help :) :y: A wrecker down in Melbourne which has since closed up had a rough ke38 panelvan in there and to my suprise it had exactly what I was after. Finding one a ke70 is virtually impossible. For some unknown reason, the original owner put the earlier ke55 mirrors on and had them colour coded which looked just wrong. Also with an accessories brochure I have for this model it confirmed what LH mirror it should have, so then I was on the hunt for a driver and passenger and after a some time bingo.
  10. Check out ke38 panelvans. They were fitted with the black mirrors on the LHS which were standard kit on early model ke70s. Visually identical, I was scratching for a very long time to source a LH one for mine and then I noticed a handfull of ke38s with them. A reference pic off mine. But also RA40 Celicas (Early models 1977-1978) and MX32 Cressidas (Late model with vertical bar grille). A google/carsales search will confirm these features :y:
  11. Looking really good mate, wasnt really a bad thing taking those mouldings off anyway as one generally falls off on its own accord. It looks preety clean in the rust department as i cannot see any above the windscreen or below the tailgate. Owning one of these in white they looks preety crisp after a polish, so a respray would look even better for sure :y: With the interior from the SX, what is the condition of the interior plastics? Such as console lid, b pillar trims and boot panels. If its thats charcoal colour be wary of the plastic turning chalky from sun/heat exposure. It must be to with the composition of the plastic as the majority turn like that. Keeping the Csi hubcaps, your lucky it still has three of them! You only need one more. Keep up the good work mate.
  12. Very, very lush and juicy fantastic work guys! :y:
  13. Exactly what blzbub666 said, buying any cheap black aerosol will look cheap and nasty as it will weather badly and flake off... Spend a little, do it once and it will look good.
  14. Good job /\/\ If you still have the panels off, give that cowl area a light wire wheel and give it a good spray of body deadener. Also spray the bottoms of inside the guards (where the mudflaps screw onto) :y:
  15. Looks great so far, for a sec I thought those wide mudflaps were the tyres! Keep it up :y:
  16. Beaut little car by far, looks too nice be drastically modified. Just replace the tail lights with the ke30 ones, full chrome around the whole light- it will transform the whole car and can be bought quite cheap off ebay :y: :y:
  17. Original screen or not they were poor to begin with with 99% of ae92s produced. My windscreen dosent leak but the plastic trims which is supposed to assist with the sealing are just rubbish. They weather, buckle and lose their adhesion properties which allows dust, water moisture and grime to enter and the worst thing - rust. (Thankfully only two small spots). Soon the rust will get cut out and welded as the car is in dire need of a new windscreen anyway. I know its a little off topic, but the majority of windcreen blokes I spoke to in Melb say after replacing the windscreen they use a generic rubber seal as used on the commodores for a better seal. I have seen this and believe Toyota shouldve used this method instead of the rubbish they used instead. I'm sure you'll pin point the leak and am interested in the outcome :y:
  18. Brendon, If your putting the ae71 doors on this keep the original blue ones aside for Jimi with his light blue ke70 as he may want straighter doors, win win for everyone :y: :y: Keep the updates coming!
  19. To me 80 is a fair bit for a gauge cluster, I'm guessing being an independant business thay need to make some income so they price items to what they think its worth. Yoy should come down to Melbourne, plenty of wreckers with these models an theyre cheap :) Just keep looking, if something pops up i'll let you know :y:
  20. If your going with the original colour its called "Buff" Perhaps pm TazRx or Bamboo as they have identical cars in the same colour code :y:
  21. If it were $50.00 for the pair of lights that would be great. But for one unit thats a bit rich, hop on ebay and have a look around. Actually theres a site based in NSW car parts wreckers hack? anyway just google it and you should find what your after. You should be in Melbourne, Pick a Part down here have tail lights on special this week $17.50 each! I was tempted to buy them but bought another csi hubcap instead  And the number of tacho dashs were atleast 5 at a rough count. With the tail light though, maybe offer the guy $25.00 and your series 1 light :hmm: He can only say no. That exhaust on the green hatch looks interesting :)
  22. Autobarn, supercheap stock these for around $40.00 from Ryco. I bought one with the intention of putting it on but decided to do it next service. Lets us know how you go anyway :y: :y:
  23. Thats not too bad economy, but a simple thing as changing the spark plugs, air filter and fuel filter should make a difference. I take it your driving style is preety sensible with the occasional clearing of the cobwebs. If there is a subtle change, but not what you'd expect, i'd consider checking the sensors and giving it a bottle of injector cleaner and spraying out the throttle body. As an example, my ae94 hatch I bought in March with a 4afe and 5 speed driven preety sedately that has had new plugs, air filter, oil, oil filter, coolant, throttle body clean, a shot of injector cleaner (which you should try) gave me very good economy for city driving which was 180kms and 11.08 litres of fuel which returned 6.15L/100km. I fill the tank to full, when the 1st quarter is used thats when I top it up, hence 180kms, and amount of fuel used.
  24. Even if you get one from a CSi Limited, it will look identical only it will have the tacho instead of the larger fuel and temp gauges. Have a hunt around the wreckers and pull a set of 13" trims off, just make sure theyre they have the round dish and are finished properly, some chrome can appear dull no matter how well you polish it. The beauty of painting the wheels black is that the absence of the centre caps wont be so obvious and it will be a good contrast agains the chrome trims :y: When I had my timing belt done in march, it was around the $250.00 mark.
