Like Parrot I also have a brief artice written from Modern Motor staff which spent some time behind the wheel of a Buckle Spec Corolla, March 1968. This is the only article I have/seen but there may be more out there.

$99.00 is good, after all thats just to book it in. But $220.00 is just ludicrous, people will just find else where if it comes to that and so they should. Money for nothing, especially if you know the car is roadworthy and or standard but in good order. Then there will probably be a modified car tax, and then another tax on top if its over 25 years old. The more you try to keep an honest old car they road the tighten the screws even more :n: ROLLABOY keep doing what your doing, if the mechanic is happy just go along with it :)

Good but very very awkward story Luke, but it brought out the best in you. Gokai will keep you in line :y:

Nice, those early model SX seats definetley look the part. I'm sure you'll sort out the Cigarette burn  Now with the spare wheel cover arent they slightly contoured to suit the pressing of the floor? Yours seems very flat or are you going to just pop it in and then screw it down with the knob. Looks good regardless, better than the original wafer type!

The both diffs have their + - points. The banjo aka T series fitted to the T-18 has options of what lsd you can install. I think theres 1 and 2 way centres, From what ive read you may able to buy a diff from a JDM ae86 which has rear disc brakes and lsd from the factory. (I'm sure someone can confirm this). Borgies on the other hand are believed to have stronger axles than S or T series diffs but the lsd availability for a Corolla is not possible as the housing is too small hence why people weld them up. However if you have some coin to spend, you could buy a borgie from an R31 Skyline, get it shortened and have the mounts repositioned to be compatible with the T-18/Corolla floor pan. Choice and availability of lsd centres is much greater as well as rear disc brakes. But the losses are in the outlay of getting the diff/axle assembly shortened. You migh even have to play with tailshaft joints also... I'm sure someone can shed more light though :y:

Being so clean and well presented would only attract positive attention. But its the little details which bring the car over the line too. I really like it and can understand the work put in as Ive done the same but to a smaller extent.
-
The choices and attention to detail on this fine two door are what really make it a standout :y: . Does it really warrant a respray because it looks perfect in the photos! Keep it up.

No worries I'll keep a look out for some clean panels for you  True, 4af was built with economy in mind so it was never going to have the astromic capabilities such as the ge,te or ze variant. But they still still have plenty of power if you need to put the foot down. I've had two adults in the car including myself and the car pulls really well thanks to its low down torque and flexible top end. So yes its a good blend of power, economy and reliability. I generally get around 6.8L/100km around town I can't complain about that!

Haha thanks Sam, my first car (AE82) with a carby had an insanely lumpy idle when it was cold. At operating temp it was slightly more civillised but still lumpy  Whilst it had a standard muffler it'd do the snap, crackle and pop through the gears. Thanks to 360,000kms though. The 92 is pretty cool, as much as I have a thing for carbys the next car was going to be injected. Drove a manual carby 92 and it wasnt much, infact the old 82 went better. Efi is smoother and responsive but with the muffler on there it still has the burble to it. Definetley noticable but not look at me. I drive it quite gently too and it still sounds good! If I go to Pick a Part i'll message you and we can meet up :y:

Ah nice, that 30 is unique in its own way. Probably the colour or just the combination of things it has on it. Come on put up some pics of this 35 hardtop! Who changed my user name "The overrated KE70", :laff:

Looks tough :y: Those Celica steelies are perfect for it! Who owns the VH wagon? always had a soft spot for them  However yours dominates it in the last photo. Keep it up!

Looks awesome, and that carpet looks so lush. I'm not suprised about the condition of the water when you rinsed it off! Actually I like how you did those tail lights I might do the same thing  Will look great when its finished, can't wait to see it :y:

Alex what you need to do is gently prize off the horn pad (from the top) which has the corolla badge in it. With the tips of your fingers slip them between the horn pad and steering wheel plastic cover on the back of the wheel and pull away until it comes off. Disconnect the battery if you don't want to make noise as I just did :) Putting it back on just make sure the two clips line and with your palm hit it back on and it should be fine :y:
-
Didnt you see my post with panelbeaters number?? If you have all the materials ring him. Believe me he is very good at what he does and he did a great job on my 92. He's a top bloke to talk to and you may work something out. Especially if the car is original to begin with :)

Looking great this progressing so so well. That last photo looks very nice and your right about the three chrome domes on the back windows. This can only get better and better keep it up :) :y:

Monocoat metallic? What I like about Toyotas of this era were they actually had a seperate sticker in the engine bay Stating the brand of paint possibly Dulon, colour etc instead of a two letter code which followed later. Will you give the engine bay some love? I can see something a little too modern in there.... Hose clamps  Toyota had a series of clamps it used on its cars, this type was correct to yours. Keep up the good work, this complements the ke20 to a tee :y:
-
That is a nice example of an RT40, especially in that colour which suits it to a tee :) Just a good cut and polish and wax and a wipe over the interior and its done. Will you pull off the door cars and clean out the inside of the doors and spray a cavity wax or similiar in there? Just little preventative things in those old car trouble ares to keep it looking proud. Love the old numberplates too

True, atleast at Kilsyth the car park is big enough to drive the car around in. Campbellfield you can only go back and forward and do the old handbrake all the up trick to try out the clutch. If I remember correctly though when dad bought my first car from pick a part which was ae82 he may have been able to grab a few things from the yard to include in the sale.. But with any older car they will need work regardless. Good to see they have the sence to put it for sale instead of just throwing in the yard like they normally do. Or buy Rollaboys ke55 :hmm:
-
Pick a Part wont succumb to offers unfortunatley, not at the Campbellfield yard anyway. Still though give it a try and see, if they wont lower the price ask if they can allow you to get some free parts specifically for that car if you buy it. Just to make up the difference.

I know there is a rollaclub member known as Hayztwail who lives around there, maybe its him? And yes thats Top Karts, it looks a little tired but its a good track!

Thanks Luke, the tap itself dosnt leak thankfully but for good measure I thought i'd put a little teflon tape around the thread and see how it goes which was alright. Pulling off the bottom hose can be a pain, so I understand there is the drain plug to let the water out a little easier but I guess that little dripper just acts as a primary outlet is if you really want to control the flow of drainage instead of it gushing from the plug. The screw is there to stay :)
-
Those bike parts look fancy Luke! Glad you know how assemble that as i'd be lost! Hope things settle out for you as far storage for those car bits you have there.. I became quite engaged when I saw BT that low  I fitted a bonnet in my old ae82 so you should have no issues!

This is the other visual style of 4age I like where its polished up. Will you go clear cam covers? Aluminium coloured pulleys :hmm: Have a neutral colour theme going on? Looks good keep it up!

It dosent leak any water and its running temp is quite efficent :). I didnt lay wax on until today given the nice weather for a wash first. It came up a treat :D Tried something new and its not Megauires but Nu Finish, that suff is fantastic! Replacement Radiator. The results of the Nu Finish polish. I spotted at pick a part a twin dump exhaust tip, with a bit of sawing, grinding and welding.... Now it sounds quite throaty deep down under light throttle and burbles at idle! Taiwanese unit on the right was not right to begin with :n:
