If you need the money back off him, then see if any of your friends have connections with a solicitor to write up a little reminder of how much you are owed. Dad has done this for private jobs and has been paid very soon after.

My tailgate has the same problem on the 38. Try the washers although you may be just stretched for it to latch nicely. Worth a go though if you want to get rid of the excess sag
Friend had a supercharged V6 Calais and the copper was dumb enough to believe him when he said that the big pulley sitting at the front was the water pump.
You can get away with murder under the bonnet, but cops are smart-arsed bastards and nabb you for something that technically cannot get you defected...
But i doubt you will have to many hassles with the legalities of the conversion.
