Cheers man, am having fun learning as I go. The upgraded motor was waiting for me when I got home this afternoon, just waiting on batteries.Trying to figure out how to mate the motors electronic speed control to the existing receiver...electrics...*headache* :(

Rock crawlers, boats, planes, helicopters, whatever! :) If it's remote controlled & you play with it, put it up. :y: Anything you don't customise Paul? :laff: Going to see if you can land it on your neighbours roof this time? Maybe not, jammed throttles aren't cool. :(

Newbie, Looking For Advice (1988 Ae82)
carbonboy replied to brods's topic in AExx Corolla Discussion
4AC engine, Manual Transmission is what that sticker stands for. :) To get the best out of it, depends on what you want. If you want to keep it as a nice, simple car, a good checkup/service of all the mechanical bits & replace anything that needs it would be the best bet. Looked after, it's damn hard to kill these things. If you're thinking performance-wise, there's upteen-dozen threads on possible engine conversions. 4AGE would be the simplest, but you'd also want the brakes & suspension from the Twin Cam version. I personally wouldn't waste my time or money on 'working' a 4AC, you'll spend a boatload & still not make stock 4AGE power or torque. -
During lunchtime at trade school today, I wandered up to the signwriting department to have a chat with the teacher. Like a champ, he hooked me up with two large sheets of HIPS (High Impact Polystyrene) that they had leftover from when they used to teach plastic forming. Not only this, he was also willing to print the stickers for the car detailing provided I supplied him with the image files. :)

May be of help. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/59913-ke55-hubbrake-upgrade-5stud/page__st__15

Box guards? Flared wheelarches? Yes, keeping those & shaping in the sideskirts. If I left it as wide as it was, the wheels would sit inside the bodywork by about 6mm, not a good look. I shouldn't have started browsing that Tamiya website, I could do some serious wallet damage there! :laff:

I could just remove the rear diff from this chassis... :lolcry: Can't afford to/haven't got the skills to make a full sized 4WD AE82, this will have to do. :)

DIY FTW :)

:hmm: If I make the plug, I could vacuum form that to make a plastic shell. I have a shop vac I was going to use to get a slight vacuum on the mould & the fibreglass item in the mould as I have some vac bag plastic & tacky tape laying around. :) Could also do both, cheers for that video Jesus. Bloody great idea, it got the mental cogs turning! :2thumbs:

Haven't touched the car, been a little busy & a little distracted. ;) I've gotta spread some forum love to Jono.C who saw my bitching about the price of postage from the US & offered me this. He's done a fantastic job of reviving it & packaged the snot out of it so there was minimal chance of damage. Much appreciated man! :y: Like the gearknob, I've never owned the factory item. Due to recent events regarding shifty characters abusing our communitys For Sale area, I urge you all to be extremely careful with making purchases. I've been lucky so far, have not had any problems whatsoever but the potential is always there. On eBay for instance, if the seller has a feedback of less than 96%, I won't touch it. It's no absolute guarantee but it's about all I can do aside from ask questions, avoid Western Union transfers etc. I see we've had a feedback system of sorts here before, but it didn't seem to work. :( On my profiles 'about me' page there's a list of members I've successfully traded with, hopefully it may help any future buyers.

A hatchback no problem, if I make this work there's a few interested people. A seca...might be a little more work! :laff: We'll see how this one goes, if it works, I might do another model. :)

*Facepalm.jpg* I didn't measure twice, cut once. :bash: Made the plug too wide so I had the task of narrowing down, did look kinda cool as an ultra-widebody. It was so not symetrical it's not funny. :( Squared up the sides & reshaped the bumpers/wheelarches (sorry, no pics). Then bogged the hell out of it. :laff: If anyone's wondering why there's so much bog on the bottom of the front bumper now, it's because I want a front lip. ;)

I'll see your 4A, your 3A & raise you a 2A. :P Great to see you've got a Corolla to play with again! :)

Bieber fans YouTube it, Tupac fans buy the album. :)

That.....is freaking awesome! Congratulations on your progress man & good luck finding a solution to this one! :)

Great work Rob, brilliant idea! I'll be doing exactly this if I can't find mine! :y:

This I agree with & am all for, I'm not saying don't do it, just that care & knowing when you're messing-with-something-you-shouldn't be are required. Hence the control/regulations. I don't have much of an idea, but cheers! :y: I'm not against GE, I just wish human nature would focus on priorities, not what it seems to want (I could be wrong here, I'm just a cynical bastard at times). A priority for example would be the disease resistant crops or helping solve food shortages, what it wants (in this, case aforementioned global corporations) would be money. In the case of human engineering, curing genetic diseases/disorders would be a nice priority, as opposed to things like 'designer babies' (I want this colour eyes, this colour hair etc). People who give me a pre-rehearsed spiel & ask me to sign something get ignored, I'd decline too.

Mercury's pretty slippery too, that doesn't leave the human system easliy. :( That's true, I was thinking more along the lines of science lab rather than cross-pollimating. Taking chromosomes from, say, glow-worms & adding it to corn so you get glow-in-the-dark popcorn (bad example maybe). Things that would NEVER occur naturally, humans just have to go & f**k with everything. :(

If you REALLY want to mess up a baristas day as payback for a cruddy coffee the day before, order a weak, skinny-soy, decaf latte with half an Equal. I found the quality of my coffee improved remarkably from that point. What I'm most curious about is not a food additive, but part of your cookware. The Teflon coatings on baking trays, frying pans etc, it eventually starts coming off. Even minute amounts getting into your food over time may have severe consequences, Teflon hasn't been around long enough for proper long term testing in this regard for us to know anything. Genetically modified foods are even further behind time-wise.

Given time alone with that Lotus, I would do some very, very dirty, nasty things to it.

The AE80/82's have that problem, with the standard front bumper, even at standard ride height. The position of the front tow hook means that the towrope/chain will push the bottom of the front bumper up when under load. :( Which is why I'll be using one of those aftermarket jobs to replace it, just keeping it inside my cars bodywork so the popo don't get cranky. :)
