  1. I often browse both the mobile & full site via my phone, a Nokia N97 with the Symbian OS (primitive, I know) & have no problems at all. Aside from the fact that Vodafone & decent reception don't go in the same sentence. Don't know what people with proper smartphones are whinging about. :P
  2. Same same, they used to have at least 3 aerials hanging off the back of them too, until they wised up that they gave the game away real quick.
  3. F**k.....I'm hoping not, as it has had less than an hours run-time, it's sensorless. Will keep an eye on it for those symptoms, I have the ESC so the new motor by itself might not be so pricey. Unless I have to have an ESC that's compatible with a sensored motor? Not looking to get too financially involved in RC just yet...then again 1 turned into 3 very quickly! Having re-read the manual to see if it was sensorless or not, I discovered that the sudden lack of/appearance of acceleration could also be caused by having not calibrated the throttle range of the controller...at all. Damned instructions!
  4. ^^ These. :) Oh, I did get the tyres swapped over for the rims I'm putting on for the weekend. Major progress compared to lately...
  5. The heat-sink/cooling fan for the motor showed up, installed that (thankfully just enough clearance between the motor & centre driveshaft) & have started fiddling about with the rear body posts. While I had the motor out, I found I had the 17 tooth cog already on it... During the test run the motor appeared to be hitting the thermal cutout due to working too hard, I believe this was more than likely caused by the extra friction of the dogbones rubbing on the control arms due to the suspension setup I created. Have solved that problem, I might put the 13 tooth cog on & note the differences. Definitely polycarbonate, for body shell v2.0 (cheers for all your advice/suggestions Gizzys25 :y:). This HIPS is just too thin, you try to pick the car up by the shell & it just collapses in your hand. Also need to smooth up the plug a little, not liking the lines everywhere & work on the detail-stickers. Will bring it to Winterfest with me for a play, hope it doesn't rain!
  6. Thanks for looking out for us Adam! :y: Not sure about our Bacchus Marsh/Ballarat (very-westies) members, but between Brimbank Park & Williamstown, I'm happy.
  7. Yup, that's on the agenda! Going to have to sort the rear body posts out, massive amounts of positive camber & toe-in on the rear wheels due to the changes in suspension setup. But, managed to get out to a covered carpark & go for a test run. http://youtu.be/4Xn-hkw-rIA
  8. Sorry man, bad jokes. I blew a hole on the other side of that one, so it became the one I use to work out where the holes for the body posts go. Definitely thinking thicker material (as well as sticking to 4wd), this is just too thin. As it's a cheap model, there's not much adjustability in regards to suspension etc. :( Looking for adjustable control arms etc down the track. Have a 2.4Ghz transmitter, might abandon that plastic tube for the antenna. Had another crack, this one turned out okay first time around, reheated it (plug & all) & gave it another vacuum. Not sure if I did anything at all there but make another hole. :( Pull pins & top half out.. Remove bottom half. Now sporting the rear suspension bracket & shocks from the off road truck to allow me to mount body posts for the rear. Dog is unimpressed. Want to test it but it's very wet outside at the moment, also needs more low in the rear. Might head to a covered carpark later on.
  9. Double post. :(
  10. Any recommendations on where to purchase this material? If I can get some success with this, might have a play with other shapes/materials. Again, cheers for the 'tuning' tips. :y: P.S - You don't have to have the real car finished before you do this, I sure as heck didn't. ;) Had a play with a scrap item to work out where to put holes for the aerial & body posts. I can have lows? :D
  11. Quoted for the truth. Container loads of parts for them that not many people are interested in, win!
  12. All good, don't blame you, I talk too f**king much sometimes/usually. Cheers man, Bundy eases the frustration of being so close yet... *sigh* Another upside, used BBQ to cook dinner. :)
  13. ;) Just started pi$$ing down rain, haven't had a third go yet. Noticing that the shells are thinner & much more flexible than the ones I bought, might investigate using thicker sheets. On the upside, they weigh 3/8's of bugger-all.
  14. Congratulations man, by the sounds of things you've got it good so far. :D Hope you get to keep the gilmer setup, looks awesome. Good luck with tuning! :y:
  15. Will PM him about it when I get this to work, if he's willing (& open to financial offers) I'll do it. Cheers for the advice man, I'll have a play & see what I come up with. :y: My concern other than the heat killing the motor is the fact the motor mount is plastic... :) Next modification is a metal one. ;) :lolcry: Got some time to fiddle about, gave the plug a quick sand & prime. The join's not 100%, over it. This is how it went: Heated the sheet attached to frame over this. Then pressed it over this. Then switched on this. Got this. A little tweaking with the heatgun & I was left with this. :bash: Couldn't get enough even heat using this method, so dug out an old BBQ & used that to heat it, got this. Again, made holes due to being a little heatgun-happy. Have put some spacers under the plug to try & get it to shape in better towards the bottom. On a side note, haven't had to dismantle the plug to release it so far. Probably because it hasn't worked properly yet. :hmm: Third time lucky?
  16. WMMH - Buying tools using the boss's account due to discount from shelf price, what also MMH is having a nice, chunky list of deductions come tax time! :D
  17. So, a heatsink is more of a bandaid solution/motor longevity thing? It's currently running a 12 tooth cog on the motor (no clue on the number on drive gear), I have an 18 tooth I could fit if that would help at all? I've noticed that this accelerates a LOT quicker than the original item as it is, even with all the settings on the ESC dialled back. Will play with it a bit before cranking it back up, learn, crash, learn some more. :) Very new to RC! Bought the orginal just to have some fun, the ad claimed 'up to 30km/h', I'd say 25km/h maximum. Was good fun when I took it on the local track rather than just annoying cars up & down my street. Compared to some of the equipment out there, this is literally just a toy. If it is lucky enough to reach 50km/h, that'll do me. You're right about stones, the tiny rocks that get in & jam the drive gears are a PITA too. Hitting the reflector squares on the road isn't a good idea either... Before someone mentions it............I will do it when I get time! :D
  18. *Waiting for bog to cure* :P Sorry, been sidetracked by a f**kton of trade school theory work. Also, just realised the frame isn't going to fit into the oven, so thinking of acquiring a heatgun as well as holding it over a heater on full blast. This may help me avoid having to explain to my female housemate/landlord why I am semi-melting plastic in her oven. Will probably give it a crack Wednesday, have night school after work tomorrow. :(
  19. R&D & a burnt finger! :laff: The receiver I ordered has a spare channel to power the cooling fan & might help even up the weight balance due to heavy(ish) battery. Finished shaping/smoothing, bit the bullet, cut it in half. Touched up the edges to neaten up the join. Not before I'd drilled alignment holes & made pins to suit, from some old 4AGE head studs I had laying around. :D (screws will be removed during vacuum process) Previously mentioned box & a frame to suit, needs more holes I think.
  20. I'm already halfway to the ferry. :P
  21. Upon testing of the new setup, I discovered just how hot the motor could get, the ESC heatsink was fine :o Heatsink with cooling fan to suit my motor ordered. :D The (hopefully) last little bit of shaping bog is curing, have revised the cut line further back to the mid-point of the rear wheelarches. Time will tell if it works or I completely f**k it up. ;)
  22. Got all of my overnight-parts-from-Hong-Kong & assembled it all. A bit of experimenting with the steering servo to get it right & it buzzes around my bedroom floor quite nicely despite the wiring being quite agricultural. :D Need to make the friggin shell now.
  23. Probably best I stayed away from here late-last night, had a bit to drink, might've let loose a little too much...& possibly ended up with aforementioned week long ban. They're not the best chassis (I'm aware of this :P), but they're still not a bad bit of gear. Good fun making the drivers of more expensive cars wonder "why is that Corolla STILL in my rear view mirror?". :D With the right modifications, reasonably quick lap times/cornering speeds are easily achievable. Plus, reverse donuts are f**king hilarious. Webbers's car is one that's a good example of a car (that is/was?) for sale that's well priced (IMHO). To get something similar to his would cost a LOT more than what the asking price is Hmmm, for $6K, a KE70 or an early MX-5? For the same money, I'd be joining the hairdresser community. Damn, too late, I drive Blue Thing... :(
  24. I'm in the same mood, so I'll play along. ;) Newer is better in some cases because (hopefully) the bugs in the previous generation have been ironed out. Eg. The 4AGE, 16v BP -> Oh $h1t, we made the valves too big -> 16v SP -> We need more torque -> 4AGZE -> We need to flow more air -> 4AGE 20v -> We want something insane -> TRD Formula Atlantic. Newer also means (to me) less chance for the car to have been flogged out by multiple moronic owners, not much less given that there are lots of cashed up idiots out there, but slightly. Also less time for rust to have had its way with the bodywork. Copy of older technology, sure, but unlike K engines, the cylinder heads aren't the biggest restriction in power production. :P *Prepares marshmallows* P.S - I like to think we're just having an 'animated discussion' here, that no real offense is actually being taken. :) Edit: Noted! :y:
