My 4age Definetly Needs Backpressure I Think
Johno replied to ca18det_ae86's topic in AExx Corolla Discussion
Yeah i know but I thought i should share my experience with others when i thought my 4age engine was stuffed. It was misfiring and the oil was milky and no power at all. I chucked on an exhaust and all good now. :jamie: -
Pretty cool.. hope your still going to work on the 92 :)
-
Ah, cool. Now I get it:) lol

I don't understand, if i wanted to change my drive shafts i will still need to undo the 30mm nut as well as the x6 12mm nuts on each side. I wont be pulling out the gearbox, not yet anyway.. :)

Hey i want to find out some info about cold air intake pods and what sort of aftermarket ECU's would be good for ae82. I'm not here asking those questions but i want to find some posts about this stuff because I'm sure this has been asked before. When go to the search page i type in "AE82 pod filter" or "Cold air intake" but comes back with 26 - 39 pages! I then type in "+Ae82 pod filter" same thing. Then type in "+ae82 +Pod +Filter" It comes up with random stuff so what am i doing wrong? Any help is very much appreciated, thanks :)

My 4age Definetly Needs Backpressure I Think
Johno replied to ca18det_ae86's topic in AExx Corolla Discussion
The exhaust made a MASSIVE different for my 4age. Before it was not reeving over 2,500rpm, misfiring, took it for a drive and it was hardly any power at all, fitted the second manifold piece and high flow cat and still bloody loud but a small increase in power. Got the stock 4ac exhaust all bolted in and power now :) rev;s fine. -
Ok, cheers. Its the part that connects the gearbox. They are still the stock 4ac ones. I will change to the 4age one's after it gets rego'ed. Just need to get a deeper 30mm socket to undo the hub bolts

This might be a little late to say now but with the squeak/rubbing noise.. My ae82 did it too after the conversion. It was really bad at low speeds and i found it was the flimsy metal backing plate that protects the disk rotors. It was bent in a little and rubbing a bit so just with my hand i bent it back out, problem solved :)
-
I almost did that too when converting to a 4age. The front LH side droped a bit too low when changing some stuff. I was told that i stuffed the CV's because they have a vacuum seal and when it fell there was a hissing sound and to put it back in had to force it in against air pressure. Is mine OK?

Update? We gotta have another cruise very soon so hurry up and get it on the road! hehe :)
-
Well i guess this is a bit late to say now its sold but it looks like a really nice ride, i dig the colour too. :)
-
Good to hear its on the road, I bet a cruise is on the order now ay? :)

Thanks Budowski :lolcry: Trev, you really know your shit when i comes to corollas.. Lol They must be the platinum ones.. i'll uprage them a bit later.. thanks for the info mate :)

It's all to do with the external size. The plugs that are in the car are 16mm spanner size, the new ones i got are 21mm size and the socket wont fit in the head to let my tighten them up. I took the rolla down to the auto shop and showed the guy my problem, he brought out 3 other types and none fitted, so in the car park i took one off the engine and said i just want another set of these. He looked closely at the plug, typed in the code on the computer and he said they are about $25 each said mine still look really good, just need a clean up with some sandpaper. I'll just wait till i do some serious work to the engine, whenever that it.. ground cams are on cards for the near future :D I can't remember what plugs i have atm, i think they are NGK R or something like that
-
I went to buy new spark plugs today but i can't get any of the right size, I did find some but they were $25 each but not in stock so i;ll just wait till i do some other work to the motor. I have been driving it around little bit, i forgot how fun corollas are! :) I just wish i could stretch it's legs out a bit more than what i did today  I finished the front grill, Power plus Midnight black, white Toyota logo and for the finishing touch.. A 1989 Toyota Camry badge repainted. I fixed the problem with the bonnet hitting the window wipers, I got a drivers side 1986 Toyota celica wiper arm. It sits flatter than the ae82 one. The passenger side is also flatter but when i turned on, the passenger side hit my newly painted bonnet :D Just ended up putting the ae82 passenger one back on. Its so nice opening the hood and not hearing that horrible crunch/click sound Pics of the grill installed, almost there :)

I agree with both of you, If its black bumpers, keep it on. White bumpers, off it comes. Still thinking about maybe changing it back to the black bumper, maybe I'll keep it looking stock and it can be a sleeper, had lots of comments from random people already asking what's been done to it because they noticed the rear disks. I have just a few small things to do on it now then drop it off for a RWC Test
-
Ok, rightio  Yeah, back on topic.. bigport would be easier to install in a ke30
-
Nice score! Wish i could get one.. I reccon just get it rego'd then drive it around and colour code the bumpers and then later on, save up and chuck a 4agze in >|

I got the breaker switch from the old seca, all working now. And a mini dust storm in my eyes :lolcry: Thanks mate >|
