Fair enough :bash: I'm going to try and take it back and get a refund. Brad is right, i came in asking for a ecu and he said this one will work, it doesnt so i want my money back.
-
Thanks mate, just looking at the pinouts for the ae92, it doesnt have half the things on the ecu as what the diagram says. THe ecu i have is identical to the ae82 one apart from the 2 little pinout things i pointed out, :bash: I think the diagram you posted up is for the smallport with afm, I got the tvis one.. I'm want to plug it in and find out what happens or will i blow the timing out to kingdom come? or will it not start
-
Its all good brad, thank for your help. :bash: Trev and Brad, you helped me out heaps, thankyou :bash: I'll just keep looking for a propper ae86 one.
-
Nah i'll just try and sell it. I didnt even know that ae92 came out with tvis. :bash: So umm... what would happen if i plug it in, will i damage anything?
-
sorry, just found out +B & +B1 are some ECU relay feed, nevernimd :( I thought i got my hopes up for a sec f@$ks sake, they guy said no refunds if its different ECU pins.. :bash: :bash: :bash: Anyone want a JDM Ecu for a 92?
-
-
Ok, Here they are, the side by side, ADM vs JDM ecu pics ADM is Left - JDM is right Here's a close up of the 10p pins that don't match up, only 2 out of all This is the ADM one this is the JDM one So heres the problem, The adm ecu has nothing writen on there while the jdm ecu has "ACT" and also where adm says "BF" the jdm says "FPU" Does anyone think this would be a problem? I wouldn't mind just plugging it in and go for a spin but you you recon i would do any damage? Sorry, I'm a noob when it comes to this kinda thing :)

Dude! I hope you still got that car, wanna sell me the engine? :)
-
Ok cool, thanks Brad :) I'll look into it soon Well, look what i bought today :) Bought it from a toyota wrecker that deals with a fair few JDM cars He didn't have a ae82 one but one from a ae92, He said its was still a 4age 16v Bigport with TVIS so hopefully all good :) He said it shouldn't be a prob but just incase, open the top of both ecu's and check the pin out connectors :P

Yeah the ae92 SX is the one with a 4age and has rear disks :) , just like the ae82 4age. I'm pretty sure your right about the front brkaes, AE82 twinkys share the same brakes as the ae92. You can just get any regular ae92 brakes.. doesnt have to be SX model for the front brakes. I think ae94 also use the same calipers :)
-
i'm only speaking from experience from a ae82 corolla, I converted my sedan over to disk brake rear end. Its not too hard, you just have to get the calipers, disks, brake lines and hubs from a twinky. Just pull all the drum brake gear off and bolt on the new stuff. You have to change the hubs (which is really easy to do, just 4 bolts) you have to change em because otherwise the disk rotor wont fit on. I'm sure its would be the same for the ae92 but not 100% sure

If your mate wants some cheap tuning and has a aftermarket ecu, he should get it tuned by a guy who knows microtech ecu's or someone who deals with alot of Jap cars, then they can get the most out of your engine. As the old saying goes, the gear you got is only as good as the tuner who tunes it. Because you got the ecu theres no reason you can't get bigger injectors or cams for that matter. A stock gze is about 170hp at the fly so for 17years on and 121hp at the wheels its not too bad :) The pistons and rods will be fine as they come forged from the factory.

If you want a really simple brake upgrade for your ae82 then just head to the wreckers and grab some calipers and meaty rotors from a Ae92 corolla. The calipers are about 20% bigger than the standard ones on the ae82. You'll defiantly feel the difference. :) Also grab yourself some good quality pads like Bendix or something. Thats what i did and I got no problem stopping now :) Edit: just read your first post.. :P Not sure what you could use other than another corolla
-
Sorry for your loss, hope your ok. Whip lash sux ass :) So are you going to swap all the old running gear over?
-
Haha, I wondered where this thread went to. I guess its a daily so theres not much to update ay? Did you ever swap the twinky suspention over?
-
Still got that sunroof Trev? :) Well i don't have many corollas, only 2 and both Ae82 First one i bought was a seca for a thrash around on a farm but when realized how good the potential was i got it registered then drove it around for a good 4 months. I then got some crazy idea that i could turn it into a hot street car with a 2pac metallic paint job and a fully worked 4age.. Later 4agte. after pulling it apart and paying reg on it for 2 years i realized it was a bigger project than i first thought and lost motivation so i decided to buy the sedan and turn the seca into a parts car to get the sedan on the road so the whole front end went on the sedan, best move i think i could have done. RIP Seca.. So here's the seca in all its glory as a parts car for my sedan project :P

I guess it depends on how they look but if its old skool i'd say alot :)
-
Cool! What do I win? Not a bad engine, looks like they have a bit of punch to em for the size. From a starlet yeah?
-
Nice work on the engine bay, 4k looks nice. Did you polish the rocker cover? Oh 4E-FE?
-
Wow, your so lucky to have picked that up for only $1200!! Just a half cut would have been Min 1500 plus all the labour and changing all the crap over. Looks like your running twincam front struts which means that the front hubs, bolts, brakes, driveshafts and steering have also been changed. Looks good mate? Got any plans for it apart from been a daily?
