  1. Nice work mate, i'll be keen to see this thing on the crusie :) I went to Dandenong Vic roads and they were real laid back, just checked the engine number and vin ;) Burwood vic roads are pretty strict and if your cars pre 90's they start looking at things.. :bash:
  2. This is coming up so good, its going to look sweet as when finished :) Keep up the good work mate ;)
  3. Hehe, you fooled alot of us with the ke10-11 lol :P Are you still going to put a 5k in it ir keep this one original?
  4. I still gotta take you up on that offer, cheers for the gasket too :P
  5. Found out i just needed to clean the crap out of the oil cap and now its all sweet :P Next thing to do is start making the car look better. I'm going to start by colour coding a few things like mirrors and door handles just wish i had a garage so i could put the heater on and stay out of this shit wheather and still work on the car :(
  6. Thanks guys :P Yeah i been driving it, done about 40km so far. I bought new head bolts and torqued them 24, 40, 60Nm cos thats what the gasket set said. Another one i heard was first stage, 29 Nm then 90 Deg + 90 Deg which would be a heck load tighter but my mate said just folow the specs on the VRS kit. I got a cardboard box and every nut, bolt and shim was placed on the box so i know where each one went back. Shims and buckets were labeled too One prob i have is oil is still abit dirty. Changed oil and filter twice now and the cap is still milky. I'll change it again for the 3rd time tonight and see how i go.
  7. Big update time. I got the head crack tested and pressure tested and all good. Got it refaced, I was going to shave it 20thou but my mechanic advised me not to because I'm using a 0.8mm head gasket. Fast forward 2 weeks.. Well i was going to use the 0.8mm gasket but my block was not as clean and straight as it could be and couldnt be stuffed getting a stone so i used the standard gasket that came with the VRS kit just to keep it safe. I put everything back together and it started up fine. Painted the cam covers while it was all apart
  8. Good work mate, sounds like alot of work, so how did you get a LSD diff?
  9. Count me in + 1 passanger, I just finished rebuilding the head today so I'm ready for the seat :(
  10. My mechanic just gave me his old sports steering wheel. I chucked it on tonight and it feels great but i don't think it suits the car. Its a autotecnica round woodgrain with pollished alloy and has a toyota symbol for the horn. Its about 1 inch smaller than the stock wheel and sits a little closer to the dash but it feels great to drive :(
  11. Sweet, yeah its been ages for a crusie. I know i spoke to a few members about a rollaclub cruise but i didnt know what was happening with my car and I still don't now. :S I just picked up my head for the 4age so hopfully i can put the engine back together this weekend. :) I should be ready to cruise on or after 25th July, Bring on Arthurs Seat! :)
  12. I wouldn't mind going out bush again like Healsville or Wourbourton. Theres a good place at the end of the Worbouton hwy called Upper Yarra Dam Resivor. I see a heap of car clubs go up to the dam and have a photo shoot. Theres a small pub up there too which I'm pretty sure they could host us. We could go on a twisty road like something Bowler orginised last time we were up in healsville. Meet in lilydale and cruise up there. I wouldnt mind arthers seat eather. I just have to get my 4age back together. :hmm:
  13. changing something inside the diff will do that too.. 1 fwd gear and 5 reverse :)
  14. Wakeup -> rollaclub -> work -> corolla -> dinner -> rollaclub -> sleep -> I got a few things on my plate atm so not much time to do anything but once i sort out my shit then i'll be back in routine like above  Other than corollas i get drunk with my mates, go out and spend time with my girlfreind, help my Mum out with her business or do small painting jobs with my painting business.
  15. Hehe, Nice! Soooooo close with cracking 10sec..
  16. Just read the whole thing from start to finish. Its looking real nice and its good to see your doing everything properly. It all looks very tidy and nice work on the porting  If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the head work?
  17. Sorry, I can't answer your question about ae71 and ke70's but $340 is a massive rip for a windscreen. I paid 170 for mine and i think you can get em as cheap as 150. Just check out the local paper for deals. Just tell them you have a ae71 corolla. If the screen does not fit, its not your problem and the'll have to find one that does fit
  18. Pulled the head off and found the gasket blew in 2 spots. Took the head to my mechanic and he recons maybe i will need the head welded up but testing will find out for sure. I should know in a few days. Bought a new reground gasket kit. It includes every gasket and seal i need to rebuild the top of the engine. I also bought a new set of 4age head bolts and also bought a 0.8mm TRD metal head gasket. I aslo asked if they could polish the exhaust ports on the head when it gets refaced :jamie:
  19. Yeah, sorta. It's mounted on the lower control arms and also on the body You will have to drop the exhaust to install it Edit The swaybar in the pic is upside down
  20. Hey, the head gasket on my 4age blew. Going to get some head work done and looking to raise the compression ratio. I was going to get the head re faced and get a thinner gasket. Standard head gasket size is 1.2 - 1.4mm so i was going to get a 0.8mm head gasket. Problem is i can only find ones for 20v and not 16v. Are head gaskets for 20v interchangeable with 16v and are bigports and small port head gaskets interchangeable?
  21. Has the engine been idle hunting? Mine started idle hunting then later it overheated all the time and then found out later my head gasket was gone.
  22. If you want, insead of getting a sheet of MDF, get a big thick peice of house insulation and staple it to the bcak seats or just get a loud stereo to drown out the noise :P
  23. What a bummer :P Can you just redrill some holes on the bracket and bolt it up there?
  24. I was going to get a head job but my Gf might get jealous.. lol Nah but really, i'll just take the head off and get it tested, if its ok then i'll just get it resurfaced, and get the inlet/outlet ports polished and get a 0.8mm head gasket. I was going to get the head shaved 30 thou but its a bit too much for now. The thinner gasket will do the job i think :P
