  1. didn't manage to get a huge amount done today... Pulled apart the rh tail light and straightened the bolt. Had to run down to Bunnings to get some sikaflex to reseal it and got some nuts and washers while I was there so I can whack it in tomorrow. Also had to bash the centre chrome a little as it wasn't sitting quite right. Got around to taking apart the fender indicators and giving them a clean. One is ok, one is not, so I'm after a ke10 fender indicator that isn't stuffed if anyone has one. That's all for now I gotta run ;)
  2. I think I might put the one on with the green badge (top one) looks nicer. Just need to make sure it fits with everything else..
  3. Rob was chasing some swaybar bushes for me today, and we finally figured out that my rear swaybar is aftermarket... So Rob took it out tonight (managed to break a link) so I can take it up to the aligners to show them the bushes that I need and now to get a new link! Also, sourcing adjustable strut tops for my car is almost impossible we've tried every parts place in town (we're sure they didn't even look to see if they could get some, they're quite expensive from what we've seen on the net and autobarn can't get them so I didn't even try supercheap. Robert says he'll ring a place tomorrow who definitely has them... we'll see how that goes
  4. ah, ok that explains it. I've got a picture here of the grilles that I have, so the green one is for a 15/17, the bottom one is like the one I sent you - so a ke10, so what is the middle one? All I've managed to do today is wash the car and clean and attach one of the tail lights - gave it a good clean and polished the chrome. The right hand tail light needs some more attention in the form of a bent bolt. So I'm going to have to take that apart and try to straighten it - it also needs 3 nuts which I will hopefully get tomorrow. I got a bit of organising done today as well, I went and bought 4 of those plastic tubs for the ke10, ke11, ke20 and ke55 to put parts in. I also bought some glad bags and sorted the nuts and bolts out that I could sort. I have a big humungous jug full of nuts and bolts which have no home at the moment... but I suppose you get that when you buy someone else's project. Anyway, I'm hoping to to get all the chrome bits on tomorrow and straighten out the bolt in the taillight and also attach the valance, radiator support and apron. Pics!!! Does anyone know where I can get some more of these hubcaps from? I only have 2
  5. 2 months LMAO we have decided that Rob's ke11 needs to be going first so that he can sell his sooby, so mine is on the backburner money-wise. I gave her a wash today and am starting to put parts back on and am thoroughly confused by the grilles - we have 5, in 3 different styles - urgh! Anyway, I'm going back to it, I'll give an update tonight.
  6. I don't seem to be very good at keeping this page updated, but I'm going to try! Anyway, the bonnet has been resprayed - better than last time, but i still need practice - I have figured out that I need a heatgun to heat the panel, not a heater to heat the room as the ambient temperature has been way too high and causes the paint to dry before it reaches the panel. So, in effect, the paint was all grainy and it felt like sandpaper when you ran your hand over the bonnet. I took it for a wash the other day and attacked the bonnet with some very fine sandpaper - it's now very smooth - I just need to finish polishing it. Robert has also attempted to fix the diff for me in the meantime - he put 3.1 gears in it out of a diff we had at home and replaced the pinion seal and shims, although its still noisy and he's trying to figure it out. Also fitted the rally tyres to the Corona rims a month or so ago, we got a local tyre place to fit them about a week beforehand and carted them home. Another interesting exercise was trying to find the wheel nuts we wanted - Rob had a scrounge around out the back and appropriated 6 off the ke30 and said we wanted these ones. So I went to Jax and said I want 10 of them, they said they had nothing like it and that they suited a TE/TF Magna with alloy wheels - Great! So I went up to the local Mitsubishi dealer and asked them "We need a VIN no" - classic! :y: So I did the rounds of a couple more tyre places and they were all the same as Jax, so I went up to the wreckers (they normally only have shit so It's not normally the first port of call) and they were actually quite helpful for once - they went and found 3 for me and gave me the rego sticker of the one they got it off so I could give the VIN to the dealer - and they let me have the nuts! So after going back up to the dealer and ordering them, Rob's like nah that's too expensive and decides to ring up a local parts place - sends me on the run around again!!! But anyway - we got the wheelnuts significantly cheaper than from Mitsubishi too! After all this, we finally got around to swapping the rims on a saturday at Rob's work - naturally one of the tyres was dead flat. It was going to cost us $100 to get the bead fixed but we had no other choice being 2pm on a saturday - so just as rob is about to leave work to take the tyre up to get fixed, some people from Sydney turn up asking if he knows any tyre place thats open - hes like yeah but this one's shut and it's charging a large call out fee, but they didn't care they wanted 2 new tyres so they could get back to sydney. We ended up getting ours fixed for nothing seeing as though we just swung them over $300 worth of work. :) with the rally treads and newly painted bonnet... So- the khanacross was awesome with the rally tyres - they made a huge difference. We also purchased a set of tramp rods - unfortunately we have figured out that there's not going to be enough clearance for dirt events if we fit them so we talked to a bloke about resetting them and adding a spring to the top of the pack which curves in the opposite direction to prevent the rest of the leaf pack from flexing. $500 including new bushes - we're just waiting on the funds. Also went in the Esses descent a little while back and have discovered that I need stickier tyres and adjustable strut tops so we can give it some negative camber. More things to buy! :lolcry: but anyhow, here's some pics of the bonnet process
  7. it's made of some sort of sheet metal... lol here are some pics, doesn't look as good as it did new but you get the idea :)
  8. Can I nominate mine? I really like this action shot. If you want a more posed shot I can get one...
  9. we had a shroud made up for my thermo by an air conditioning place and got it powdercoated black, the thermo is bolted onto the shroud and it's mounted on the radiator, not through the fins. works really well and looks neat too!
  10. how about you paint it in a matte primer coloured top coat so that there is minimal allowance for rust? Great find! :sob:

  13. There's a new black lancer getting around town lately with the plates HOTDAM. The car's nice, but it's not that nice

  15. Make sure you take extra care with sheeting and masking everything off. I thought I protected everything really well in my shed when I resprayed my 55's rear, but there still managed to be overspray in inexplicable places. Anyway, OHke, this car looks really schmick with that paint job, I was one of those non-believers who didn't think you could get a good paint job from a roller, I was wrong! It sounds like you have a lot of patience from what I've read about this technique - I don't think I could ever do this and come out with as good results as you have Great job!
  16. Hooray, someone happy? :bash:
  17. amount of difference it will make, sweet fark all, imho. how old is the car? what condition is your water jackets and radiator and water pump in?? how much crud is already in there? how much crud is in your heater core? Robert.
  18. +1 WGMG Driving a Toyota Dyna which Rob has been fixing for his dad. Naturally, the only car that we have on the road out of all 6 cars we have is the Sooby which we swapped for the Dyna so we could tow the car trailer. It's gotten alot nicer to drive now, but I am short and I have issues getting in and I am not used to having horns on the spokes of the steering wheel. I almost hit someone being extremely cheeky on a roundabout. She looked like she was giving way and then decided not to. :P Slammed on the brakes and started hitting the middle of the steering wheel, needless to say the horn didn't work because there is no horn there and after I finally found the horn, it stuck and didn't make a peep. Argh! what is so hard a bout giving way. Why do people put horns on the spokes of steering wheels, they're not the most convenient thing to reach when you need them and they're annoying when they actually work because, I don't know about everyone else but, I bump them in my normal course of driving. GRR. I want to get my bonnet done as soon as possible so I can drive my own car. I really don't like big cars! Small Cars FTW :bash:
  19. Yeah, work's always the down side. There's a motorkhana on this month, and the next (possibly the last for the year) khanacross is on next month. And you're right about the yellow 30 too :bash: Anyway, not alot with the 55 has happened in the last couple of days. It's now completely back to bare metal (the grilles in it are really annoying to get all of the paint out of) it has been degreased, rust converted twice and degreased again. I'm going to do a very tiny bit of bogging tomorrow - the bonnet is relatively straight - and then re-rust convert it as part of it seems to have liked the rust converter so much it decided to keep it. Then I have to move a whole tonne of crap out of the shed, clean it and drop sheet it. Fun fun. Does anyone have a really good shed set-up? We've got a double garage, it has one car door, a bathroom in one corner (already there or we wouldn't have bothered) louvre windows and bare frame inside. I've been wanting to replace the shitty old entry door, it seems very rickety and wouldn't take much to boot it in, I also want to put in normal windows (the wind still seems to get in and a couple of the louvres are broken), a nice sized exhaust fan with filter, a 2nd hand reverse cycle AC and I also want to put gyprock on the walls and ceiling to stop so much dust collecting. But that's just plans for now, don't have alot of time nor money to throw at it at the moment, but that's how I'd like to have it before I paint the ke20.
  20. Yeah, I'm thinking that if after Rare Spares via Auto One in Orange get back to me and do not do rear quarter rubbers by themselves I will just get the p/m stuff from Scott's. I don't really want to get something that I have to mitre myself, because I'm very good at stuffing up the simplest things, but if I have to I will....
  21. is that the one where they put in all those ridiculous circus noises every time she says f@$k? If so, I hate them, they just ruined a perfectly good song and made it absolutely crap to listen to. That's ok, I only have to listen to star fm at work, and they've only played it a couple of times, I just turn the radio right down, and usually noone notices for around 30 mins!
  22. Perhaps you should listen to triple J  They don't censor anything, the most you get is a warning just before a song to say there's swearing in it :hmm:
  23. Yeah, makes you wonder how bloody hard is it to keep track of the mail. This goes to this address, this goes there, etc. At this stage I'm just trying to find out where I can get some rear quarter rubbers for the ke10 (without having to buy a complete rubber kitfrom Rare Spares for $640), everyone I've asked hasn't had them, and if it's just going to be generic pay by the metre rubber from Scott's I may as well just go to Clark Rubber in Bathurst or Dubbo. I've just gotten the email back from pinch weld. They do not do full rubber kits for the ke10 and it's the same story as Scott's for the rear quarters, you're sold so many metres of the rubber and you have to mitre the corners. Why is it that no-one seems to have these quarter rubbers?
