  1. OK, so I emailed Scott's auto rubbers, they don't do a full rubber kit for a ke10, nor do they do rear quarter rubbers, they just sell you the rubber per metre and you have to mitre the corners. For future reference, it's around $14 p/m. I've just emailed pinchweld to see what they have available and will let you all know when I hear back from them.
  2. I've seen a couple of nice rollas getting around orange lately! There was a forest green ke35 that drove past when I was at work, there's also a nice yellow ke30 and a white ke55. The yellow ke30 is unfortunately no good. The chassis is completely rusted, and we parted most of it out. It's only got a stuffed gearbox, bits of interior, rear doors, bootlid and shell left. Was going to take it to the scrappy's but have decided to hold onto it a) so I can practice painting and panel beating on the panels, b) so I can do a lifesaving rear end transplant to the 55 when we have the skills, time and money! lol
  3. +1 for the crossings thing. Where we regularly walk the dog there are 3 crossings that absolutely no-one stops for and it's not like they're easily missed: 1. They're at a X intersection on both sides, right at the give way signs. 2. They've got zig zag lines leading up to them on both sides 3. There are signs everywhere 4. It's well lit 5. It's a suburban housing area, where most of the driver's would be locals to that part of town Yet no-one stops for you and my partner said he was about 5cm away from being skittled the other night. He stopped, saw the car giving way on the other side and decided that the car was going to stop got halfway out onto the crossing and the car decides to go. It's like that pinky ad. I was telling Robert quite loudly what a dickhead this other driver was that also almost run us over on that same crossing and the driver and his passengers had the audacity to yell and scream abuse at us. There may as well not be any crossings there at all. Oh, and apparently traffic lights are way too hard for Orange residents. They've recently put up another set on our already congested main road and it caused absolute chaos. Seriously, how hard is it? Red means stop, Green means go, Amber means get ready to stop. If there's no room on the other side of the intersection, don't queue across it and if traffic is queued and stopped the way you are going, you will run into their ass.
  4. Is it coming from the door windows? Does your car "leak" when you take it through the carwash? I'd replace the bailey channels before replacing the rubbers.
  5. OK, next question, does anyone know where you can get just the rear quarter seals for a ke10? Neither lilavadee nor Phil's rotaries have them in their kits or seperately. I'm thinking I might email Scott's Old Auto Rubbers and ask him.
  6. so where does the whiteline swaybar hit the caliper? any photos? and does it only do this on full lock? Robert.
  7. In the parts we were given we have multiples of that grille, so you're more than welcome to have one at cost of freight!
  8. Unsure of build date, haven't had much time to look at it yet! Got the ke10, a ke11 and a load of parts on the weekend. It's a rolling shell that came without an engine and gearbox, and, as far as I know, everything else is there. It just needs to be put together. So the plans are: - Give it a good wash - Get a rubber kit for it and put the windows in it as soon as possible, to stop it becoming waterlogged. - Whack everything else back in it! :bash: Planning on putting an uprighted 4K, downdraft webbers and a t50 in it. Not sure what I'm doing about the transverse spring and all the other quirky stuff, I haven't had anything to do with ke1X's before. Tinting the windows, not sure about the chrome bits for the outside, Putting most of the red interior back in it, whacking in some gauges and a nice exhaust that's loud but not stupid and keeps the gasses flowing. Maybe a straight thru 21/4" or something Anyway, this is just a quick write up for now, I've kinda gotta go. I'll keep updating this regularly, as I am planning on having it together within two months as a daily drive (money permitting) I'm really happy, this is the first car that I have bought that doesn't have a tonne of rust or a f@$ked crash pad! Edit: Ok, so where I had to be, I didn't have to be! Um, so continuing on, I am going to be buying some classic loop pile carpets (black) and I am more than likely going to have to reupholster the front door trims as they have had holes cut in them for the speakers, and I don't want to put the speakers there. I am also going to have to repupholster one of the front seats. It only had a couple of cracks in it, but my naughty dog decided it looked tasty and knawed holes where there were once cracks. He was in very big trouble! The glovebox lid needs a new coat of paint, and the whole car needs a really good clean out as it was sitting for I don't know how long. I'm also after the grille type panel that fits between the bonnet and where the windscreen wipers are located. If anyone could help me out with this it would be great :y: Do other ke1X owners on here still have the original seat sashes? I was considering putting in the safetly retractable seat belts in, but Robert reminded me that that could be a real engineering drama. Also wanting to get more of the wheels that are on it and put some redwalls on it! Anyway that's all I can think of for now
  9. ^^^ lol, I don't think I like the idea of working on someone else's car, I'm not that good yet and I wouldn't wanna stuff it up! I've been a bit slack on this page lately. I haven't posted up those pics of the carbs yet cause they're huge and I was having issues with them, I'll try again now for you Tally. Anyway, since my last post, the rollie's been in another khanacross and has developed a howl in the diff (whoops :bash: ), I have put some racing stickers on the car which has resulted in me not liking driving my car down the CBD due to dickheads thinking I want to race them. We've also acquired some Tramp bars, which we're yet to put on as I've taken the bonnet off the car to get resprayed. I had to put a triangle above the battery on the bonnet for the khanacross (it's just electrical tape) and the tape kinda took whatever was left of the paint in that spot off and it looked shocking! I'm hoping to do a better job than the last one (I didn't degrease/clean part of the rear quarter properly where I blended the paint and the new paint has come off slightly, also I think that I had the gun too far away on parts and the paint dried in the air and now I have this sort of powdery residue in places and it won't shine, I haven't attacked it thoroughly with the buffer yet, alot of people told me that a good buff will shine it up. I think it's just my shit beginner paint job.) Anyway, the bonnet is now back to bare metal. I also bought a set of 5 Corona Rims off ebay a little while ago for the purpose of putting rally tyres on for Khanacrosses. After pricing around for a while I thought I'd never be able to put rally tyres on, as I couldn't find anyone who would sell me second hand ones and a set of new ones would cost around $1200, which I thought was a little too big of a starting price for someone just entering this type of driving. Thanks to Redwarf who pointed me in the direction of a bloke who sold me six second hand ones for $130!! Anyway, a tonne of pics are attached... Rally tyres You can see where the tape took the paint off Sorry, the pic's still too big, I have to go now, so I'll resize it later.
  10. Name: Kylie Barling Car: ke10 Corolla Shell Motor & Driveline: None at the moment, blank canvas! Suspension & Brakes: Stock Wheels & Tyres: Stock Interior: None! Planning on putting the red interior back in it, minus the front seats, which I am going to replace with racing seats Body: Nice, straight body. No rust, pretty good respray in original white, needs a couple of bits fixing. Other: This is a rolling shell - all parts bar engine and gearbox came with it and I am in the process of sorting out a rubber kit for it so it stops becoming inundated with rain!
  11. He posted this before asking me!!! Tru fit carpets and Knox Auto Carpets do moulded carpets without any holes cut out. edit: Robert! use your own account! lol
  12. that makes sense. transverse leaf out, front swaybar in, coilovers in front with stiffer springs to make up for lack of transverse spring. so what do you do for brakes if the ke55/70 girlock calipers no longer fit? and how do we go about obtaining zero or slightly negative camber and shiteloads of caster? Robert.
  13. thanks for that Keith :bash: I wish I had a lathe at work, it would make my day. Trouble is I'd use it for all my own stuff and probably not for anything work related. I was going to price the job at a few engineering places, central west engineering or maybe jeff hort, I've got to ring around a bit. I still haven't got anything else for the engine organised yet, so it might not happen for a while. First things first, I need to make the interior inhabitable and put a bonnet/vent panel on and make it look presentable, no point having the engine without the car. I wish I could do blue slips sometimes too, but I really do know that is more trouble than what it is worth. But we digress from the topic of flywheel machining now, and I'm still logged in as kylie :y: Robert.
  14. Hey Been scrounging around for a while now, I've noticed people remove their transverse leaf spring and put heavier coils in the front of ke1x cars. Is there any particular reason why the transverse leaf spring should be removed and normal macpherson struts put in? I'm assuming that you can fit a whiteline swaybar to the front of the car and ke55/70 girlock calipers/discs on original struts without a huge headache? why go to the drama of taking the transverse spring out? Everybody just says that they took it out, nobody explains why. That is the all important part of any discussion, why! Robert/Kylie
  15. Hey We have some ke25 seats in reasonable condition considering their age, but the vinyl has cracked in a few places. Where can I get these repaired/recovered so they look the same as or as close as I can get to stock? Any reccommendations? Anyone want to give your fav trimming place a plug? Also, say I wanted custom carpets, for example, my gearstick is in the wrong place, ke55 box fitted to ke11, or I took the back seats out and wanted to carpet the unsightly floor (actually more to reduce the noise) where can I get this done? Is it possible to get a kit where you can mould your own carpets? I've had a bit of a poke around on the internet and found a few hotrod places that offer "kits" but unless you actually went there in person its hard to work out exactly what it is and how it works. Anyone have any experience in matters such as this? Robert (Kylie's account)
  16. Yeah, I was thinking that the Rare Spares ones are probably manufactured in the same place as the Thai ones and because Rare Spares sees us as old corolla enthusiasts, it's ok to put a nice little (or big) mark-up on it.
  17. You shouldn't break the screens. We took both the front and rear screens out of the ke20, it was surprisingly easy and we didn't break them, and because of the slow project, they have been moved twice and sat around for a year and a bit and have not broken yet. We also managed to bring the ke10 ones back from ACT in a rough old dyna without breaking too - they're not as fragile as you would think. I know I won't be able to find genuine ones anywhere that aren't ratshit (be good if I could :y: ) but I'm just wondering about the quality difference between the Thai ones and the rare spare ones. I just want some that I'm not going to have to mess around with or replace in 5 years time. It's alright, I won't have any money to put towards any for the next couple of weeks, this ACT thing kinda coincided with some rather nasty bills and busted the bank  :bash:
  18. At my cousin's wedding last year they had a buffet style set-up where they had an array of meat, vegetables, snacks and sides, etc that you could go up and use it like a self serve type thing. I thought that was an alright idea. Others have had your choice of 2 or 3 meals, like what has already been mentioned. I really like the buffet idea
  19. I'm of two minds on this now... I have heard some good things about them and I have also heard some really bad things about them. I think I'm gonna mull it over for the next few weeks while I put the rest of the car together. Thanks for your help guys :bash:
  20. I have a ke55 and she likes dirt. Lots and lots of dirt. I don't know how fast she goes cause she starts getting a bit flighty at 160 and there haven't been many good straight sections of road to get it up to speed. I don't even know how much hp it makes, should probably chuck it on the dyno! It has been rebuilt and bored out and has a cam and electonic dizzy and twin su's and extractors etc, so more hp than std, but I don't know. My car is so fully hectic that I have had it professionally lightened by strategically storing water in carefully planned out places so that I have reduced my car's weight my around 25% due to a very technical process called oxidisation. Cutting edge technology that is only apparent in the coolest of the fastest of cars! :rolla:
  21. That's the problem with this one as well, you do as they say or it's a warning. 3 of those and you're out, and it can be over the stupidest things i.e., you swept the floor instead of vacuuming it, there are product barcodes showing, the label on the shelf is in the wrong place. Instant dismissal is for anything less trivial than this stuff. We have a high staff turnover and when stuff goes wrong, the big big big boss owner gets up the big big boss, the big big boss gets up the big boss who gets up the boss who gets up the other boss and it's like this big snowballing effect where the more people it goes through the angrier they get and the more the shit hits the fan when it actually reaches you. Yeah, we've tried not to get ourselves into alot of debt. We bought a house last year, which we made sure was definitely in our price range, and much to the banks dismay we're paying it off at the rate we started with, which I think was about 8%, theoretically we could be paying around $180 pw instead of $280 but we chose to keep paying that amount so the loan is gone quicker. We've got a personal loan which is a result of our consolidation of our two loans and rob has a credit card. I refuse to get a credit card as I would never pay it off. I also refuse to buy anything with those buyer's edge deals. What's the point, just save up and you'll have it sooner or later. We're very lucky, our family gave us two loungechairs and we recently got another off eBay for a measley 99c (lol). Brings me to my next point, why do people always look down on you when you buy stuff off eBay, just because I know how to spend my money wisely. For instance, we were considering buying a dining table for ages and all the ones we liked, that we deemed were not going to fall apart after a year, were anywhere from $700 - $1500. WTF? for a dining table. One came up on eBay in our area. It cost us $20... I told my workmates and they just gave you that look of disgust. I was like, dude, I'd like to see you find a table and chairs in as good a condition and as nice looking as that for $20. Why on earth would you pay so much money for this stuff? That's another thing I don't understand... How can people go out almost every night of the week and get pissed at the pub and a) be right for work the next morning b) not have a trillion dollars of debt for paying $10 per drink, plus the amount of smokes they go through Give us some money for our cars, at least we have something to show for it. :hmm: I just thought of another thing that grinds my gears, useless whipee aerials, but I'm not even gonna open that can of worms :rolla:
