  1. Caution: Autos DRINK the fuel, especially on the highway. Was 370km from 35 litres today. Manual gearbox going in on the weekend (thank the lord!)
  2. Have a look to see you havent disconnected the Idle cutoff solenoid. It runs from roughly the battery area, theres a connector just forward of the strut tower and it runs to the carby from there. If this isnt connected your car wont idle but its possible to start it if you use some throttle. Just have a look for a disconnected wire around the carby area.
  3. Accually the silvias blue too :)
  4. It has everything to do with cut springs. It was on a sweeping corner at 110km/h. don't try to defend them, if youre stupid enough to use them, fine, kill yourself but don't go spreading bad advice.
  5. LOVE IT :y: I miss my KE20 :)
  6. Cut springs are never safe. I'm completely disgusted and appauled by the number of people who think its all rosy to modify their cars like this. Its illegal for a very very good reason. What happens when everything doesnt go right? I remember seeing a story about a young man in sydney who had cut springs in his car (It was a laser or similar 80s kind of fwd car). He was acting a bit silly on a freeway when he clipped another car. The car he clipped spun and crashed killing the driver (a young female). He kept on driving. The police tracked him down some days later with the help of witnesses and impounded his car. The forensics team went over the car finding evidence showing that he had clipped the other car and that he had cut springs. With this and the witness information they charged him with Manslaughter and he went to jail. He was under 20. There was another case down the Gold Coast I'm told, where a high performance car with 4 people in it rolled on a corner killing 3 of them and paralyzing the 4th. The car had cut springs, they were all under 25. don't think this stuff doesnt happen. It does happen, and people do die. So whats the price on life these days? A few hundred dollars it would appear...
  7. HKS by any chance? :) http://www.hksusa.com/products/?id=657 Part #17141-141158, matches whats stamped on Trevs
  8. haha good stuff, still running the SR20DE with 9.5:1 comp?
  9. David from Norway says that the car is well known there, but no-one knows the secret of that engine. The guy is in Denmark.
  10. Yes the Redtops (and possibly later models up till around 1997-1999 depending on locality) were built with a girdle including the SR20DEs. The crank walk on high HP motors is because the standard crank bolts are slightly too small. You have to retap the thread and use slightly larger ARP studs made specifically to help the problem. SR20s have the nice block feature of being able to completely replace the bore sleeve with a stronger one. Its possible for the stock sleeves to push against eachother and turn an egg'd shape but alot of its to do with tuning (detonation) but any motor will die with a crap tune. With good tuning the stock sleeves survive up past the 500-600whp mark. Another potential problem is that the alloy block will warp more easy than a cast iron one. But keep them cool and they'll keep on hammering. can't say Ive seen a properly prepared SR20DET block explode at anything under 600 odd wheel HP.
  11. 235/45R17, 4.3 diff (or 4.1), 0.759 5th gear ratio, 7500rpm limiter. Theres no way you could push it through the air that fast though.
  12. LOL. If I tried that method hiro I'd be doing about 150kmph.
  13. Didnt have dinner....at least not that I can remember...
  14. Just watch the image sizes guys. Some of them are not so dialup friendly.
  15. woo woo! you know ya wanna Trav!!
  16. Post like you know what your talking about. You'll get better/more responses that way. The people around here are willing to help people who help themselves.
  17. I'm prepared to spend $2000+ on a good set of Tein, Cusco, Kei Office, HKS etc etc coilovers because I KNOW they've done their research. I know theyve got the experience to backup their product. I know theyre top quality because they can't affort to make a crap product and lose reputation. G4, never heard of them, don't know their background, don't know if they even try these things out on the real world, hell I'm not even sure they understand how a good suspension setup should be. I bought a set of second hand Cuscos for $1000 ex-japan. Took a little bit of a risk but even if they were blow I could have them rebuilt for under $600 and have a virtually brand new set of coilovers for $1600. I wouldnt hesitate to do it again should I want another set in the future. Now from the admin/mod: Removed commercial links. Not gonna help sell things, if people want them they can hunt them down themselves. Hope you understand.
  18. umm...wtf?
  19. Quick search in the yellow pages turned up a heap of places. I'll paste some here if you want. I found the place that I'm gonna take my injectors to next time I need them done (were flow tested when I bought them). http://members.optusnet.com.au/ipswichcarbs/
  20. Nice vid. can't help thinking that theres gonna be heaps of people driving off cliffs up Mt Glorious trying to imitate the new "tokyo" drift movie.
  21. Locked for your own good Trev...
  22. So if a doctor told you that jumping off a cliff is good for you, you'd do it no questions asked? Just because a doctor told you doesnt make it 100% true. Jayant Patel was a doctor...would you listen to his advice? I think not. Perhaps what your doctor said was more for psychological reasons. The point is don't take everything for granted, ask others opinions, research. You didnt include much detail in your reply either. "Without much sleep". How much are we talking?? 4-5hrs? or more like 30 minutes? Do some research and you'll find that with little sleep, i.e. 1hr a day, it becomes incredably hard to function. Do some research tell me what you find. If you can find credable sources supporting your statement I'm more than happy to change my views.
  23. Without much sleep is quite a bit different to without ANY sleep. Even 10 minute power naps can improve your memory functions (but according to a NASA study not alertness...?). Regardless I wouldnt be driving or operating machinery. Why arent you a doctor if you apparently know everything about anything??
  24. What a load of garbage. After 17-19hrs of sleep deprivation its like having a blood alcohol content of 0.05. After 5 days I dread to think what your reaction times would be like. Good luck with shaking the insomnia :ninja:
