  1. At U Pull It it is $100 for a diff drum to drum so you don't even have to remove the centre just take the whole lot. When I go there I look at the overall condition of the car to give me an indication of the condition of parts. Check the kms its done, etc. If any of them have car club related stickers on them I steer clear, if they have had fender mirrors steer clear. Its a sign they could have been thrashed. I know it sounds stupid but its just what I do. Also, be mindful some vans have different diffs to the sedans etc. Pays to google :glare:
  2. A pic with the MAs on it. While changing the wheels had a quick check to make sure it had the AE86 struts still in there and yep they are. I'm gonna park the two cars next to each other soon and get a pic. They are a very similar colour. I feel so lucky to have these two Corollas
  3. TOM - yeah a bargain indeed. Though for the effort I went to negotiating with this guy I deserved to get it at the price I did. Very very frustrating to deal with :blinks: MattyZ - We don't have blue plates in SA. I will just change over the engine no. and keep the car nice and tidy. Ke70kid - Thanks. The car was a bargain for sure but it still has some work needed to be done to it. All the hard work chasing parts has been done though
  4. So here are the pics...... Hai there everybody :blinks:
  5. Sorry kids - no pics tonight as it seems my wife thought taking it with her was a good idea :bash: Bought the panno home tonight and I love it!! Couple of things to sort out with it to make it more awesome but overall very happy with it  Pics will be up tomorrow I promise - you're gonna love this thing

  7. Good to hear you boys are getting stuck into the wagon - she just needed some much needed TLC  I put a deposit down on an AE71 Panelvan which I am picking up tomorrow night. Pics after I get it home and shiz :fuzz:
  8. Thanks for that Trev, certainly an eye opener. Let's face it though the majority of people buying privately are not going to go engaging a solicitor over their deposit. The legal fees would be more than the deposit is in most cases so they would just move on  When I take a deposit I always advise that it is non refundable regardless of circumstance  I also advise people if they do not put down a deposit the car remains for sale to the first person with a deposit. When selling my Chaser the guy refused to place a deposit so I sold it to another dude the following day for an extra $1000!! No deposit = car still available  The original dude was not impressed :hmm:
  9. Keep the deposit. A deposit is paid to secure the car from sale to another potential buyer, which means you then tell others who enquired that the car is under deposit. You then lose potential sale so really the deposit is compensation should the person change their mind. I have never paid a deposit for a car without the expectation that I would lose it should I not proceed. As for cooling off periods... a private sale does not have any of that so its buyer beware.
