  1. The one that holds the fuel return and some vacuum lines.... I couldn't work out last night how to remove it. I will have another look on the weekend in the daylight.
  2. Sorry I will edit it, I knew you did some sort of grinding in there. In any case it is not required on the silvertop, either that or they have reviewed the design a little. The one I bought is of there new stock. I am trying to remove the large steel thing at the moment, I have undone three bolts, what else is holding it on dammit??
  3. Custom extractors from an exhaust shop will cost you about $700 plus. At the end of the day it is pointless really as you may unleash about 3 kilowatts of power. On a dollars per power ratio that is not money well spent. You have to wonder why no-one makes these for a 4AC, it is because no-one is interested in them anymore and it is simply a waste of time and money as no-one would buy them. No-one bothers with 4AC's anymore because assuming you have an AE71 the upgrade to 4AGE is not that expensive or difficult. If you cannot afford the upgrade in engine I suggest you simply enjoy the 4AC as it is. There is no point upgrading the 4AC as at the end of the day it will always be a 4AC. I will wait for all the 4AC fans to come in here and defend it, but at the end of the day you need to upgrade your engine.
  4. Nice work :P
  5. I trial fitted my Yager fitting last night to a Silvertop 20V 4AGE. On a Silvertop it did not require any modification to the quads to fit up, however it does require: - significant grinding of the alternator adjuster strap as there is no way it will clear it even without a hose on it. - removal and redesign of the fuel return hose and vacuum arrangement underneath the quads. So far for ease of fitment and use I am giving it a 7/10. I thought I would point this out as on the blacktop I think Matt you had to grind some off the quads also. Silvertop does not appear to need this, or maybe they have refined their design a little as it does have a small taper at the top to accommodate the quads.
  6. I have not yet run this yager kit, next week it will be running so I will let you know what I think of it. I was sceptical in the beginning but others have been running this set up for some time without issue so I guess it must be fine. I will post up my observations of it. :P
  7. Ok so more parts acquired today, count down is on to have it ready to be sent off next week... - Thermo Fan - YAGER Thermostat Fitting - arrived finally :P - Fuel Pump Mounts - Various hose clamps - Custom radiator hose setup - New plugs and leads A little work to do this weekend to fit the above items then that's it from me. I did a quick calculation of what it has cost me so far including labour for the wiring and it came to $4150 :) Far out that has added up quick. That doesn't include a lot of random stuff I have acquired along the way that is required. Bear in mind also that alot of my parts have been acquired at trade prices or what I like to call forum (read cheap) prices. Buying stuff off forums has saved me a fortune. If I had bought everything at full retail price I think I would not have been able to afford it. I will give a breakdown of my costs in another post, not that I want to REALLY add it all up. Let's hope it's worth it, so amped that it will be running very soon. :P
  8. Well it has stopped raining.... anyway when I was over yours I did notice you have a luxury concrete driveway to work on. You should try working with the crap gravel driveway I have, add that to the fact that at night now when I work on my car it is about 3 degrees. When you hit your hand on something doing a bolt up the cold makes it hurt more :P
  9. Problem solved by automotive shop - I need 8mm leads :P
  10. :P to the crash repairer that "fixed" my Mazda
  11. Check out the 20 Valve into xxx thread at the top of Engine Conversions section. This shows you alot of what you need relating to cooling etc. I can vouch for Sam Q he makes good parts. He made mine for me. For the front pipe fitting can I recommend a Yager thermostat fitting?? It requires no mods to your original water pump set-up and is fuss free. You just need to find some alternative radiator hoses. You will need the rear and side block off plate from Sam Q if you are going 20 Valve. I have almost finished this conversion so can provide tips by PM also. LittleRedSpirit on here has an awesome build thread which covers a lot of the issues you may face along the way. I have pm's him also with questions here and there and he is always helpful. Hope you don't mind me offering your help Matt.
  12. Thanks mate I gave you a call. See you soon. Good to see people on here can help :P
  13. I spoke to someone yesterday who said they can make me some with the appropriate covers on the plug end and the right length etc but at the moment I am looking for a very cheap solution and just need to know the thickness of them. You are never going to believe it but my thermostat fitting from a certain place finally arrived today :P
  14. This is the preferred method yes. They still do exist in fact I had one in my hot little hands a couple of weeks ago that I didn't need, sold it within two days. I would be going to far out country wreckers and looking for one. 1. Country Wrecker won't have already been raided for pedal boxes 2. Country Wrecker won't know they are worth a overrated 3. ???? 4. Profit
  15. Ok so I am a bit stumped over what will turn out to be a simple answer for someone on here. What size leads do I need for Silvertop 20V. Thickness etc? I enquired at an auto shop and they only gave me the no. for a direct replacement and these will be too short for my application. This is to be run in an AE71 with aftermarket ECU, Bosch Coils (individuals) etc. They need to be longer than stock. Can anyone help? Thanks Luke

    Spotted

Spotted an AE82 with a panda paint job last night, trying to be an AE86 obviously. Just buy an AE86 you fag :P
  17. Hi all, I need a few small jobs done and thought I would ask here first. This is what I need done: 1. Need a thread "tapped" into a part. I can remove the part and bring it to the person. It is only very small. Organised thanks. 2. Need some pipe to join two radiator hoses together. Someone suggested an exhaust shop just wondered if anyone knew of somewhere cheap. Organised thanks. 3. Can anyone lend me some KE70 stockies for a week or two?? Need to have decent tread just so I can drive my car home from the workshop. My current wheels don't have enough tread and after all this work I don't want to get defected on my way home for such a small item. I cannot afford new tyres at the moment on top of everything else, I know it sounds lame. I will give a small donation of money or alcohol for the lend of the tyres. The top 2 items have been organised. Thanks Luke
  18. Plans for the car are a nice daily without creating too much attention :P
  19. My car will be running by end of next week :P
  20. That looks wicked, you need whitewalls like right now to finish the look :P
  21. Jay's two door xE7x is so full of win. I saw it in the flesh when I was at his shop the other day. He is just all casual like "this is my street car". Ha ha what some people would do to drive something like that as a daily. Also who's is the white E7 with the quads, also full of delicious win :P
  22. Red Gem on here was selling a whole set-up for CA18DET into KE70. It was the whole setup from his car including motor etc. Might be worth looking up and will save you a lot of hassle. Also there would be tons of information/people on AE86DC that would have done this conversion. Kaizen Garage springs to mind for the engine mounts. He is a top dude to deal with too.
  23. I saw this on Beach Road Christies the other week, awesome to see another killer KE10 on SA roads :P
  24. Crap :P
