  1. I own the old/current generation Mazda 3 which I think is much better on the eyes. You can call me gender challenged if you like but it makes for a damn nice daily when you drive more than 1000ks per week. I have the luxury model SP23 with Leather and all the fruit. The new model to me is ugly, it looks like it has undergone a simple facelift/change at the front and back and some of the doorlines have even remained the same. It looks to 'far out' for me. To be honest though I haven't had a close up look I just saw one on the back of a truck being delivered. Though I would like to give the 2.5 L a whirl, I think it would be a bit of fun as the 2.3L is fun on a daily basis without being an absolute ball tearer.
  2. No more pics after the weekend as promised but I will put some up this week. I stopped in at Buddyparts on Friday on my way home from work and picked up a few parts, we got chatting and basically he will be finishing my car for me. He will be doing the wiring, tuning and making an exhaust and any other last little bits I have missed or I couldn't be bothered with. Looks to me like he does awesome work there and his prices were better than anyone elses. With any luck my Yager fitting might FINALLY turn up this week, seriously that place has some issues :P , so then I can finish off the cooling system and connect all my rad hoses and get it as ready as possible for Jay at Buddyparts to work his magic. Basically the more I do the less he will charge me which is fair ;) At this stage it is tentatively booked in for next week, and he said it will be done within three days so I could be driving it by next weekend :P

    Spotted

I'll have to check it out. I spotted your 30 outside your place last night when I was visiting the outlaws, liking the gold wheels, but was a bit hard to truly appreciate them due to the fact it was dark and raining. Will have a better look next time I'm around :hmm:
  4. I'm out due to the weather. If it is raining anything like it was last night disaster is imminent. I am up for testing out this drive anytime in the dry though no worries :hmm:
  5. I'm going to be keeping a close eye on this, what a wicked base to start with in a 2 door 70. Keep up the good work and look forward to seeing your progress :hmm:

    Spotted

Also spotted, arguably the best KE70 in Adelaide at "The Servo". Good to see you have it running again Dan and hope not too much trouble with the wet last night. For those of you who do not know where "The Servo" is it is a Keto Wonderland which at one stage was home to two of the best KE70's in Adelaide. One left but the original and the best has returned to fight another day with its dirty nissan motor!! :hmm:
  7. Not wanting to go too off topic but I have come from a turbo import too, having owned a JZX100 Chaser, MKIV JZA80 Supra Twin Turbo and also a little stint of ownership with a CA18DET equipped Sprinter. After having the Sprinter and virtually never being able to get traction and enjoy it to it's full potential I can tell you that an overpowered KE will be stupid. But each to their own. If you really want power in your KE, get a dirty Nissan motor, can be had from just about any importer, conversion kits are readily available and you can extract more power out of them for cheaper than a 4AGZE. I stand by this comment any day of the week too for those haters out there of the dirty nissan motors. After you put it into a wall, then re-read this thread where I told you it will be stupid with too much power :hmm:
  8. Benzo I thought you would listen to your own material.... Future Sex Love Songs by JT - that sort of stuff :hmm:
  9. yes it is because Nana's are usually wanted by the mafia and shot at on a daily basis :hmm: It is actually a sticker of two people bowling either side of the words "Work is for people who don't bowl" There are some other bowling related accessories to go on the car soon. ;)
  10. Well I had the privilege (I won't say pleasure) of hearing a Facet Pump starting up and pumping the other night and my god they are loud. This particular one was mounted under the back of the car on an AE86 Sprinter and you could really hear it. I hope mine will be ok mounted in the boot of my 71 as I do not want to fork out the $200 or so for a Carter Lift Pump.
  11. I put that sticker on already I couldn't wait. It looks killer and is a good size too. I will put up pics of it after the weekend when more progress pics will be taken.
  12. Luc I have thought about this... I don't have the $2.00 required for the buy in, but I do have the pink slips to the Mazda. If I lose you can have it, but if I win I take the $2.00 and the respect. To some that is worth everything ;) :hmm:
  13. Sounds to me to be an ignition issue which is similar to what I had in my old KE70. Have you checked or replaced the points lately? How dirty are the contacts on your rotor button or distributor cap? How long since you changed the leads? I fixed mine by cleaning all of the build up off the rotor button and contact points in the distributor cap, cleaned the points and re-adjusted the gapping. It is only a 20 minute job with the right tools. There's a few tips for you.
  14. What happened with the import bars?? If they are for sale again I am dead keen. I will need post to SA but will add on top for the expense and effort. I really want these bars on my nana AE71 :hmm:
  15. You should have put a deposit down, that way they have to hold it, and sell it at the original agreed price ;) I know it pisses you off but I don't hold anything for anyone without some form of deposit. Been stung too many times :hmm:
  16. Well they appear to me to be MZ10 Soarer period wheels so something from the early 80's I'm guessing
  17. Widened steelies does not equal skidders. It can actually look quite good if done well. If you look at the rest of this guy's styling on his car you can see he is not trying to be a skidder or whatever you want to call it. Superlites only come in set offsets as far as I know. My mate orders wheels from them so I know a bit about them or can find out. If you wanted some custom made from them (which I am sure they can do) it will cost a lot as they would not have the casting for that particular offset, width etc and would have to develop one. Widened steelies at $480 per set is cheaper than a set of Superlites no matter the offset. Superlites can't be had for less than $800 a set brand new and that is WITHOUT tyres.
  18. I think in your case widened steelies would be the best option as you can then choose your offset. It doesn't appear that many wheels come in your desired offset or PCD. The steelies and tyres set up you have at the moment looks the goods so maybe if it were wider it would still look the goods. Perhaps try and find some images of steelies that have been widened. I know someone did it on NS with an R31 and it looked quite good. I don't know if you can photoshop them, but if you do put it up so we can see.
  19. Well I got stimulated by Mr Kevin Rudd this morning so I paid for the following goodies:- - Surge Tank - Lift Pump - EFI Pump Just need a few more little things. More pics to come after this weekend. :P
  20. That is a crazy combo 1J into a panno. :P
  21. I'm in in my Mazda 3 SP23. You can all laugh but you will be surprised by it's mad skillz brah :P Also I can sit back and enjoy the plush leather seats whilst you all get thrown around in whatever else :P The only reason I am bringing it is because my stupid Corolla is not finished yet, and I want to get out and meet some people from here and go for a bit of a drive :hmm:
  22. Sounds like it would be the case with Lawson and I don't think they are too popular around these parts. Like everyone else has said including me you really have to ring around for Toyota stuff as it is not as popular as the Nissan poo. You may have to order it in and pay a deposit though. I still don't understand for the life of me why you want to ruin that car with an over-powered set up but it's your car. I know the car and have seen it with the previous owner who put the 4AGE in and it was a good setup then, maybe just try aftermarket cams and some other NA mods to bump up the power a little. An over-powered KE is a recipe for disaster.
  23. So what are the other differences between 1st and 2nd gen silvertops?? I ask this as I am currently installing a 2nd gen and just curious?? :P
  24. Yeah I did think about it Sam but decided it was not worth the effort. You can do it but you have to admit there is not much room back there. At the moment I am really interested in getting it going and can sort out the finer details once it is running. I really need to get it on the road :P
  25. It might pay to open the bonnet and have a look, or in this case lift the seats up :P It should still have the sticker on the motor saying the name, if it hasn't worn off. Or try the compliance plate and if you can't interpret it post the information and someone here will know
