  1. The Superlite less car is the little LA Lancer, posted pics of the before and afters earlier in this section, than one has now moved on. The Watanabe alloys on triumph i actually bought for my RT72 1900 SL Corona but the Trumpy has the same stud pattern so on they went. I'll post pics of the Mini soon!, had that one for 22 years !!!...
  2. Had to shuffle some cars around the other weekend to get the one out of the back of the shed. Went in for a cuppa and looked out my kitchen window to admire the great veiw !!
  3. The right 13" wheels would be fine. And yes your carpet is original, remove it and give it a clean with a pressure cleaner, you'll be amazed at the results. As for the wear on the drivers side a pair of nice mats usually make it look a whole lot better !!!.
  4. Took the KE17 for a run to Bathurst to check out the racing and look who i ran into, al the way from SA! I found out that i could have run my Sprinter, next year i'm there!!!!!!! :D
  5. A very good degreaser, scrubbing brush and a pressure cleaner. Actually thats how most of the car was done, degreaser, polish, window cleaner and silicone spray for the tyres and mud flaps was all i used. Here's the engine bay pics. Was pretty clean to start with.
  6. Even had a little help !
  7. More before and after shots!
  8. This is the result after 12 hours of stripping, cleaning, polishing and putting it all back together.
  9. More pics. Drove it back from work, goes great but i think the head has sprung a water leak near number 2 spark plug!
  10. Thought i'd rescue this one, its only had 2 owners both in the same family, 74 model, 4 speed, big block factory 1400 motor and the usual grandpa touch ups. I'll post more pics after i've stripped and cleaned it. If anyone has bits for one of these i,m interested : rear bumper, interior rear view mirror, seats in white, also some Sigma steel wheels with factory center cap
  11. Thats only what i was told but Wayne was more than helpfull when we approached him about some bits. Still don't know what the cost will be so at this stage can't coment on his pricing.
  12. There was only about 8 KE1# and KE2# series Corollas but about 30 MS4# and MS5# series Crowns, mostly wagons and a few utes. Wayne, the guy who runs the place is the son of the original owner. Flynn's was the original Toyota dealer in Cooma many years ago. I was told he was a bit iffy about people wondering through and also about selling stuff but we all turning up in our old Toyotas and introducing ourselves made him feel at ease. He charged us $10 each to have a wonder, gave us a white marker pen to mark any parts we were interested in and just said if we open something make sure we close it.
  13. More pics, especially at Flynn's Wreckers at Cooma.
  14. Didn't know where to post this one but it does have one of my rides in it. Just came back from a road trip to Phillip Island with some freinds in a KE17 SL Sprinter, MX23 MK2 Corona and my RT72 Corona 1900 SL, we all went down to watch the historic motor racing. Our first day was Sydney to Beechworth, then to St Kilda for two nights then of to the Island for three nights. From there it was back to Cooma to visit Flynn's Wreckers then back home. We all had a great time with no major probs, we travelled about 2400kms on our trip and the old RT72 averaged about 7.5 lts per 100kms for the whole trip. That was with 2 adults one child and a boot chocked with luggage. The KE17 with 5K and 5 speed was about 6.6lts per 100kms. We travelled between 60 - 80mph on all the open roads.
  15. At this stage i wont be painting the car even though it'd look great same colour as the Sprinter. Already spent heaps, the truck at $2500 was the cheep bit, ally tray and ramps, steel for the frame under tray and wheel rack, painting and powder coating, nuts bolts and fasteners, Warn winch, wiring and labour now mean i've an expensive little transporter which owes me about $4000 more than a good car trailer would have cost. So if you need an early Corolla ring for a quote!!!! :y:
  16. Unloading, 1st drive truck onto ramps and place ramps on tray and step 2 remove straps and release winch!
  17. Happily sits on 100kph, the alloy tray is sitting on a steel frame. Used alloy to keep the weight down a little and also didn't want to have to keep painting a steel tray every couple of years like i had to with my car trailer. Still want to find some Landcruised or Prado rims with a bit more dish which should make it look better.
  18. And a couple more, the ramps which have been mounted on the side and the electric winch to pull the car up.
  19. Finally got the little truck back, here's a few pics. Still a couple of things left to do but at least its home now!
  20. Don't bother with the diff upgrade, my KE17 race car with a little over a 100hp at the wheels has no probs with the factory 4.1 diff. As for your 5K, a stage 2 cam some port work the factory twin carbs, extractors will all be fine with the auto. Red vinal trim always looks retro and never dates, you could always add some grey to it like i had in my KE18. Cars looking good!! :P
  21. Good to see another K17 being saved!!! Also this is an internet forum not an SMS sight. Spelling and none of that predictive text stuff!!!!!!!!!!!! Ah!! The Younger Generation !! :lolcry:
  22. Whit boot lid 67-68 with protruding dash cluster, other boot lid 69 KE10 with flush dash cluster, SE was the deluxe model, radio, centre console, cigarette lighter and black painted section on the boot. Grille no 1 KE11, no 2 68-69 KE 10.
  23. Didn't watch much of the UK Top Gear but foud the Aussy version quite good. For those who think its a direct copy of the UK version, well it is. Like Australian Idol, the same formate as the rest of the world but with local presenters and content. Personally i think it was well done and will only get better as they all settle in to their personallities. :y:
  24. Like i said earlier, in a mates race mini he gets 2 race meets out of a set of rotors, might sound like overkill but he's got the fastest Nb historic mini in Aus. Cost of replacement bits was reasonable, pair of new rotors, road pads, pair of front calliper kits, pair rear wheel cylinder kits and 2 rear brake hoses total $275 delivered.
