i would jack the car up a meter in the air otherwise youll do your back! remove balancer timing cover etc etc. don't need to remove radiator. (might even be easier to remove the engine and put it on a stand) you wont need to remove the cam. to drill a new dowel into the cam gear do what the other fellow done and use a old cam gear as a guide. drill some different holes in it and try to get the specs as close as you can

how does it rev up high? it should pull like a school boy in the higher rpms. advanced cam means more torque retarded means more hp/revs

seams like exhaust gases are escaping into the coolant. do a TK test to comfirm (checks for carbon monoxide in coolant) does the coolant have a dark tint to it?

is there a ball on the gearbox where the leaver sits on? how thick is the black plate between gb and engine?

Re sleeve it back to stock diameter is around $80 per bore, just get oversized pistons

please don't tell me your running a stock exhaust system? edit - if you remove the studs from your timing case cover it shouldnt take long at all to remove and check cam timing. but then again you can check cam timing from the push rod

i really don't know why arron changed the front panels? bonnet styles look the same, doesnt look like a slanty conversion :lol:

if i remember correctly theres 18 teeth on the crank and 36 on the cam gear. so 1 tooth on the cam is 20 degrees?

shes fixed i went to swap the emmulsion tube, remove the top part of the carby. while I'm here ill start it and see if it drips. didnt drip..... drill out the bung as shown above. she idles at 800rpm now :yay: barp barp barp

according to this my emmulshion tubes have something to do with my idle curcit. http://www.opelgt.com/forums/opel-tech-articles/26512-understanding-idle-transition-operation.html ill swap that before drilling!

the problem was from day one. I'm looking at the idle curcit to confirm

i went down to my local carby joint, i told him my problem and he told me i need to drill a 1mm hole in my butterfly cause i have no vac at idle? this make completly NO sense. a fella from work had a look at my carby after work and we found this these appear to be blocked off. on the spare 32/36 i have, they arent blocked off its the same as some one blocking these off on a stock carby the way he discribed it was. "when you have a full bottle of water and you start squeezing it upside down, it has to burp of the vac before it flows again." I'm going to drill the pri side bung out tomorrow, i hope i win

thats the problem! it could be jumping spark in the dissy or arc on the poles on the coil. just needs a hair line crack to arc out. on my 4k it would die/sputter at 3grand or under load. spark from the coil output was arcing to the neg side of the coil

I'm running 195 air correction in the mains and 170 in the secs the emulsion tube has only one opening and thats on the primary side. sec side doesnt have one edit - i have blown compressed air thru the idle curcit and carby cleaned everything edit edit -
